Slow and steady wins the race. Finally another podcast….. Mel’s recommendation: You Need a Budget web app Mel recommends a handy zero-bed based budgeting tool this show. She has actually been using it for over 6 months and it has proved very useful. Annual and monthly subscriptions are available. You also get a free trial period that runs just over a month so you can take it for a spin prior to buying. Kelly’s recommendation: Oranges & Lemons by XTC Kelly revisits a favorite album by a too often overlooked band, XTC. This is a double album featuring … Continue reading →

Nurture & Support returns 🙂 Mel and I hope to get back to at least a monthly update for the podcast. Here is one in a row… Kelly’s recommendation: Oculus Quest 2 After many failed attempts, I finally have a VR device I love. No computer required, easy set up, and amazing VR experiences. Definitely worth a look (and once you get it, get the Vader Immortal series!) Mel’s recommendation: Alien III audiobook Mel LOVES the Alien series. Well, except for Alien 3 movie, which she pretty much hates… UNTIL she came across an alternative script by William … Continue reading →

Sorry this one is as timely as we originally planned, but Mike had a few “moments” in this episode that I had to creatively edit. Took awhile 🙂 A YouTube version of this podcast with supporting images is available here https://youtu.be/IGdzykbd1QE BTW… here is a link to the Dylan Knows show mentioned in the podcast https://youtu.be/9Fk_HmrQjQ4 Be sure to subscribe to The Bog Panda YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/bogpanda Thanks for watching! This week in sort of a Nurture and Support and Squat Cobbler combo, we visit with Gerald Webb about the amazing podcast “The Shadow Diaries” brought to you by the good folks at Studio71 and Snarled Entertainment. This podcast stars Madelaine Petsch & Kara Hayward and around episode 4, our favorite cantankerous, ugly shirt wearing friend Gerald Webb shows up. In a few weeks the season finale will be published and we plan to do a “tweet sync” where we all start the podcast off of the Snarled YouTube channel playlist at the same time and tweet along with it … Continue reading →

Special treat around the 18:30 mark 🙂 Kelly’s recommendation – The Boys This Amazon show is based on the graphic novels of the same name by Garth Ennis. While there are many tweaks, it does effectively bring forward the dark, funny, dark, strange world of the graphic novel. If you have problems with profanity.. not your show. If you have problems with VERY dark situations… not your show. The cast and writing are spectacular! Mel’s recommendation – Art With Flo Just like Kelly, Mel remains on the lookout for a graphic art Sherpa. Flo seems to be … Continue reading →

Some recommendations from two rising TikToc stars…. Mel’s recommendation – Tale of the Nine-Tailed Mel recommends viewing a Korean drama/urban fantasy called “Tale of the Nine-Tailed” (post crowded sourced translation). It is steeped in humor, mythology, action, and a camera-friendly cast 🙂 She also snuck in TicTok, VIKI, and Goblin mini-recommendations. Kelly’s recommendation – Canva While Kelly continues to make progress on learning GIMP, he can still use some help. Canva.com offers outstanding, flexible templates for a huge variety of items from YouTube banners, candle labels, greeting cards and MUCH more. Even if you are using the free … Continue reading →

This week Mel returns to Amazon and Kelly FINALLY learns GIMP (sorta) Mel’s recommendation: Aicook Electric Kettle After years of irresponsible tea brewing, Mel picked up an electric kettle with presets for the best temperature to brew green tea, white tea, Oolong tea, black tea, and coffee. She has really noticed the difference in flavor, and outside of missing the cool blue LED light on her old kettle, she has been very satisfied. Kelly’s recommendation: Logos by Nick YouTube channel After years of irresponsible editing, Kelly is FINALLY moving on from his Paint Shop Pro (version 6) … Continue reading →

Tangent Tally: I lost count This week Dr. Mike were SUPPOSED to talk about MySpace, but as is our wont, we meandered quite a bit prior to discussing it. Perhaps a roadmap of the tangents prior to the discussion of the actual topic would help: Mike’s latest unearned title 2020 Election What country would you move to? Mike’s take on the Bahamas and Canada Costa Rica’s plumbing Kelly’s trips to Canada and England Kelly’s knowledge of French Frozen Niagara Falls Frozen mist and the metric system TOPIC!!! (12:45 mark, link to video below) As mentioned in the podcast (at the … Continue reading →

This week marks Mel’s triumphant return to Netflix and Kelly’s continued quest for good free software 🙂 Kelly’s recommendation: Openshot Well, I finally gave up on the Windows provided solutions and downloaded a new video editor. It is called OpenShot. The interface is pretty straightforward and the features are numerous. It has been compared favorably to iMovie, so probably a good choice if you are looking. Mel’s recommendation: The Witcher Mel finally began to use her Netflix subscription and watched The Witcher (mosting in one sitting). It hit on all of Mel’s favorites… there are books, related video … Continue reading →

This week Mel recommends some awesome candles you can light and enjoy as you binge Kelly’s suggestion. Mel’s recommendation: Novelly Yours Candles Mel found a clever way to bring up Gideon the Ninth again. That awesome novel – as well as many, many others are represented in candle form on the Novelly Yours Candles website. Mel also pointed out that the @novellyours Instagram is currently posting discount codes! Kelly’s recommendation: The Umbrella Academy I finally got around to watching this due to the encouragement of friend of the show Jeans, and I am SO glad I did. … Continue reading →

Dr. Mike joins Mel and I again for this round of recommendations. Due to technical issues and me forgetting to record parts of the show, sound quality and continuity get a little choppy here and there. Also, for the record, I am not glad Dean Jones is dead. Mel’s recommendation: The Outer Worlds (video game) This game is from the creators of the early Fallout game series. The Outer Worlds contains much of the same spirit and vibe as Fallout… but in space! Mel explains how she can’t bring herself to be the bad guy while Mike and Kelly listen … Continue reading →

Plus you will all be reminded that “Big Ass Spider!” is … Continue reading →

Tangent Tally – 2 This week Dr. Mike and I discuss the first album by Tubeway Army, the self titled “Tubeway Army”. This features Gary Numan of course. The sound is a tad more punk-ish than typical Numan fare – not that there really is typical Numan fare given his diverse (and awesome) body of work. Very much worth a listen. As promised, here is the original album artwork… In this episode, you will also learn of Kelly’s appreciation for the grunt in music. While mildly mocked by Mike, perhaps this will open his … Continue reading →
