#144 “Are There Really Premium Paying Clients”

I saw a post on Instagram recently that blew my mind! The lady was giving a tour of the premium RV lot they had just purchased, complete with a bungalow, private hot-tub and private lake views. Many of the commenters had no idea something like this existed. The private investigator in me had to do some digging to see what a set up like this was worth - and my jaw dropped!

However, it was a reminder to me that there is ALWAYS a market for premium services. So that is what this week's episode of Online Confidential digs into and is a reminder that our own money stories can be the limiting factor to what we may charge.

    Here are the important topics:

[00:06:00] Understanding the 10% Market for Premium Services

Emphasis on the 10% of clients who are willing to pay for premium services, drawing a parallel with first-class air travel. Encouragement for ad managers to recognize the existence of high-paying clients and adjust their pricing accordingly.

[00:08:00] Breaking Limiting Beliefs about Pricing

Jody addresses common limiting beliefs that prevent ad managers from charging higher rates. She encourages listeners to increase their rates and seek out premium clients, providing examples of businesses willing to pay more for quality ad management services.

[00:09:00] Finding and Connecting with Premium Clients

Strategies for finding and connecting with premium clients, including online engagement and personal interactions. Encouragement to step out of comfort zones and network to attract higher-paying clients.

  • #143 You don't pay unless we get results

🔎 This week’s Online Confidential Show: talking secret ad manager business

Ok… I’m going there! Performance Based pricing.

Back in 2017 as I transitioned from a freelancer to wanting to grow an agency, I learnt (along with hundreds of other ad managers) the lead gen strategy to run ads “We don’t get paid unless you get results”. I still see these ads in my newsfeed today and have ad managers in my communities who have also tried this method.

Performance based pricing models can work. I’ve had clients pay $10k/m+ thanks to this pricing model.

But what is the typical experience for many ad managers using this marketing method?

Tune into this week’s episode to find out.

Here are the important topics from this episode: [00:00:00] Performance-Based Ads Overview: Introduction to the concept of "no pay unless you get results" in ad management and its origins in training programs. [00:02:00] The Realities of Performance-Based Ads: Discussion on the challenges and realities of using performance-based ads, including the types of clients attracted and the practical outcomes. [00:03:00] When Performance-Based Ads Work Well: Examples of successful scenarios where performance-based ads have proven lucrative and the ideal conditions needed for this model to be effective. [00:06:00] Pitfalls of Performance-Based Advertising: Insights into the common pitfalls and struggles ad managers face when dealing with performance-based contracts, including client quality and operational challenges. [00:08:00] Strategic Considerations for Performance-Based Ads: Strategic advice on managing performance-based advertising, including setting clear criteria for client qualification and the importance of having established business metrics.

In this episode of Online Confidential, we're diving deep into the question: Should you offer your ad management services for free?

One of the strongest drivers of human nature is to return a favour and
I’ll share with you how offering your ad expertise for free (sometimes!) can actually help to drive business growth through persuasive goodwill.

I'll also share insights on how to create goodwill with high-profile connections and guide you through the criteria for when and how to offer your services for free to ensure quality leads and mutually beneficial relationships. Plus, learn 3 things you must do, if you decide to offer a free service.

Whether you're an established ad manager or just starting, this episode will help you navigate the nuances of offering your expertise without undervaluing your work.

  • #139 Should Ad Managers invest in their own ads?

Ah…ever the controversial question! All businesses need to be visible to their market and if your market is on Facebook or Instagram (like the 2 billion people who use Facebook everyday), then you should be running your own ads.

And some real talk… if you can’t invest $10 a day into marketing your own business, you don’t have a business, you have a hobby.

Run over and listen to this episode and discover how you can get the specific businesses you want to work with into retargeting audience so that you can nurture them and move them along your customer journey.

Some of the topics in this episode

[00:00:23] Opinions on using Facebook ads for ad management businesses.

  • In my Successful Ad Manager program this week, we were celebrating one of our ad managers getting her first client! 👏👏👏 She’s pretty nervous, however she’s going through the program and getting the support in our “SAM” community, but also the correct expectations are set between her and her new client.

This isn’t always the case. Unfortunately, many eager ad managers are told to go out and start charging premium prices. Had she done that with this type of client, then it could be a recipe for disaster.

On this week’s episode of Online Confidential, I share a word of warning about what clients you should not work with if you are a new ad manager. Experienced ad managers need to watch out for these ones too!
