  • Clayton and James take a deep dive into captaincy over the opening 10 Gameweeks of the season to determine the premium players wanted and needed for the opening weeks of the new season; before moving on in the latter part of the Podcast to a discussion on rotation options. The Haaland vs Salah debate continues, with the case made for both players, the difficulty in having both, the importance of the number 36, when it'll be time to hide behind the sofa and which of the players priced 8.5-10.5 stands up as being one that may well be wanted more often than FPL managers may expect for captaincy. There's also an overview of captaincy through the winter months and when during the season there really will be a time to take Haaland on with the captaincy - for those not brave enough to do it at the start! (Understandable!).Plus, a look at rotations, which even includes a 6.0 and 4,0 option together but focuses primarily on players and combinations priced in the 4.5 bracket and there may well be some options that haven't previously been considered.Tomorrow on Planet FPL: Planet FPL s8 ep6 - The Planet FPL QNAToday on Patreon: Tot&Ham And The Midweek FPL DilemmaFor the full Planet FPL schedule this week, including our offering on Patreon view this post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/schedule-aug-109908150Want to become a member of our FPL community and support the Podcast? • James details to Suj and the audience what we can expect throughout the season with Blank and Double Gameweeks and it's going to make Chip Strategy very different in this season to what we have been use to in previous campaigns.

So is it safe to use the Chips early in the season? Is James' intention to Bench Boost in Gameweek 1 a consequence of this?

There's discussion on options for using the Chips both in the first and second half of the campaigns, why Manchester United and Tottenham could cause a particular headache to the schedule and why we shouldn't forget The Mystery Chip will also be available in the second half of the season.

And there's further analysis of options for when to use the first Wildcard.

  • On the 20th and final Podcast of Correspondent Week James is joined by Liverpool fan Dan Lord to discuss The Reds FPL assets and what we can expect tactically and stylistically from new manager Arne Slot.

The club have been quiet in the transfer window so far. Could a reason behind this be that all of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk and Mo Salah are entering the final year of their contracts. Can the club afford to take a risk of losing these players for free next summer if agreements on new deals aren't reached soon?

Salah v Haaland is discussed in detail, there's discussion on the likely positioning of FPL's GOAT and also incomparision to other Liverpool attackers. Is Diogo Jota, for example, worth a 5.0 saving against Salah?

Trent's now down to 7.0. He too is compared to Jota, but is he certain to start in GW1, and might the likes of Jarrel Quansah, Coonor Bradley or Kostantis Tsimikas offer a cheaper route into Liverpool's defence at the start of the season?

And interest in Reds assets will be high with a great fixture listv to behin with, but in the longer-term can they challenge Arsenal and Manchester City for the title again?

  • Aaron Lagor joins James to discuss all things Leicester City and their FPL assets ahead of their Monday night Gameweek opener against James' Tottenham. But despite being the Championship Champions they currently don't feel as strong as they did when achieving promotion.

Why? Manager Enzo Maresca and key player Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have departed for Chelsea. Former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper is Maresca's replacement and there's a detailed debate on what may be different under the new manager.

For FPL club legend Jamie Vardy may still lead the line, while wide men Abdul Fatawu and Stephy Mavididi are also 5.5. Should any of the trio appeal for investment?

And there are enablers to consider with Wout Faes (4.0) and Harry Winks (4.5) both well owned.

But you may listen to this Podcast and want to have a second look at Tottenham assets and The Foxes also look set for a points deduction.

  • *Recorded last night prior to this morning's reported news that it now looks likely Dominic Solanke will be on his way to Tottenham...

...James is joined by Bournemouth fan Neil Grover and conversation immediately gets into the big transfer story featuring The Cherries, with talisman Dominic Solanke heavily linked with a move to Tottenham. Will he or won't he? And in which circumstances should FPL managers be investing in the forward?

There's discussion on which Cherries attacking assets may step up in the scenario of their star forward leaving, one solution may be that a player listed as a midfielder could end up out of position.

Plus, best defensive assets assessed, where the club can be expected to invest in the transfer market and the club's continuing ambition to improve.

  • The Final Day of Correspondent Week kicks off with Gary Mantle joining James to discuss FPL assets and expectations for Chelsea under new manager Enzo Maresca and a period that should be full of enthusiasm has quickly evaporated due to some chaotic performances in pre-season and further strange transfer dealings.

There's conversation on Maresca's intended tactics, what's been going wrong and there's an analysis of the transfer business which continues to leave many Chelsea fans concerned.

Plus, Cole Palmer has received the highest ever price rise in FPL after finishing last season as the top points scorer. but currently there are many questions mark as to where exactly he will play in the new system. Therefore should a 4.0 saving be made by investing in Christopher Nkunku?

And there's a run through of the squad to see if there are any more FPL assets to consider such as one of the 4.5 defenders, Noni Madueke, or a refreshed Raheem Sterling.

But predicting the starting eleven for Gameweek 1 proves a very difficult challenge.

At least the fixtures are good... or are they...?

  • Day 4 of Correspondent Week concludes with the team that finished in the Top 4 to secure Champions League football as James is joined by Aston Villa fan Lee Jackson to discuss The Villains fantastic achievement and their FPL assets before the big kick off.

Ollie Watkins was phenomenal last season and a Euro Semi Final hero for England. Currently owned by roughly half of FPL managers he's the club's clear talisman. Villa have a challenging opening two so those without may want to add the forward in GW3, but it might not be easy for those who go without it might not be so easy to bring him in without a Wildcard.

Leon Bailey also had a great season and at 6.5 will appeal, particularly for those without Watkins, but with UCL football to look forward to how reliable will his minutes be? And might Morgan Rogers, currently the only 5.0 midfielder owned by over 3% of managers be the better way to cover some of the Villa attack?

There's also assessment of Villa's defensive assets including Ezri Konsa and Ian Maatsen and an assessment of the club's summer transfer business. Which as been, interesting.

  • Southampton fan Matt Samuel joins James to discuss The Saints FPL assets and their chances of beating the drop under Russell Martin who will want to play an attractive style but is the team equipped enough to play the way he wants to?

The squad will need strengthening, but within a budget, and a priority would be to get in a new goalkeeper and depth is required in the forward areas but the addition of Ben Brereton Diaz - who has been classified as a midfielder - offers genuine competition to Adam Armstrong for those seeking a Saints attacker.

And FPL managers may want to invest in one, because despite the opening weekend's daunting trip to Newcastle an outstanding run of fixtures follows.

Plus, there's a detailed debate about the relegation fight and 4.0 defenders, which includes the current highest owned, Southampton's Taylor Harwwod-Bellis.

And the Saints may have the best 4.5 forward in the game too.

  • Sam Murray joins James to discuss the summer changes at Brighton with Roberto De Zerbi replaced by Fabian Hürzeler, who at 31 becomes the Premier League's youngest ever permanent manager. The Podcast includes discussion on what we can expect tactically from the new man in charge.

And there's plenty of FPL discussion which includes interest in new attacker Yankubah Minteh who may thrill from the right and is attainable at 5.5, the same price as the popular Joao Pedro, but will the forward prove his fitness ahead of Gameweek 1? And the brilliant Kaoru Mitoma (6.5) is back fit, but largely being ignored.

Perhaps that's because of a difficult fixture schedule which sees The Seagulls play 7 of last season's top 8 in the opening 11 gameweeks, but week 4 & 5 are very attractive with home fixtures against Ipswich and Nottingham Forest, a period that looks perfect to field 4.0 defender Valentin Barco, who if he does well is likely to make interest in any of the rest of the defensive assets at 4.5 undesirable. But maybe only from the start.

  • It's a Planet FPL debut for new Fulham Correspondent Lewis James on the opening Podcast of Day 4 on Correspondent Week and with a very attractive set of fixtures to begin with there's plenty of interest in their FPL assets. But how will they cope with the departure of the brilliant Joao Palhinha?

There's detail on new additions including Emile Smith-Rowe and a returning Ryan Sessegnon, and more additions can be expected to a squad that is likely to be led up front by Rodrigo Muniz who will prove popular for those looking for a reliable cheaper forward.

Bernd Leno has been a proven consistent goalkeeper in Fantasy, but he may be overlooked with Fulham's backline all priced at 4.5. There's a debate about the prospects for Timothy Castagne and Antonee Robinson.

Plus, could Smith-Rowe's arrival mean a departure for Andreas Pereira, and if so, who would take over set-piece duties. The answer may surprise. And there's also detail of why we may see a back three from Fulham as the season progresses.

  • Day 3 of Correspondent Week concludes with Crystal Palace fan Ruaidhri McLaughlin-Dowd joining James to discuss his club who had an outstanding end to last season under Oliver Glasner and have a number of very interesting FPL assets.

The futures of Marc Guehi and Ebe Eze are discussed and it's not implausible that both could follow Michael Olise through the exit door, and Ruaidhri has a warning for Fantasy owners of Eze even if it's confirmed he will stay.

Jean-Phillipe Mateta couldn't stop scoring during the run-in but with him away at France and the Olympic final on Friday is he a likely absentee for the opener at Brentford?

Plus, the new signings assessed (of which Ruaidhri currently has one for FPL), Joachim Andersen's high ownership, Daniel Munoz potential and the problem to picking the right 4.5 goalkeeper might have an answer.

And are The Eagles the most likely team to break through into the top 8?

  • Jonny Pringle joins James to discuss all things Manchester City and their FPL assets as they bid for a fifth successive Premier League title. But there's a growing number of neutrals who think this might not be their season.

Obviously Erling Haaland is covered, Jonny's initial reaction to the 15.0 price was to consider going without, but following the weekend pre-season hat-trick against GW1 opponents Chelsea how does he feel now?

There's debate on Kevin De Bruyne versus Phil Foden at 9.5, the exciting emergence of 5.0 Oscar Bobb and his likely minutes, whether Josko Gvardiol is an auto pick at 6.0 and if there are preferences or desires across the players priced at 5.5 in defence and 6.5 midfield.

Plus, will the departing Julian Alvarez be replaced, if Ederson is expected to stay and if City may remain surprisingly quiet during this transfer window despite some feeling a refresh is required.

  • Simon Bibby joins James to discuss Newcastle's FPL assets with interest very high and the perfect combination of attractive fixtures and some players very nicely priced.

Alexander Isak is a shoo-in, isn't he? There's discussion on the Swedish forward, while fellow attacker Anthony Gordon is also going to be a popular pick, as long as he starts against Southampton in Gameweek 1. He will start; won't he?

There's going to be interest in the 4.5 defenders with Dan Burn, Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento all under scruting but the answer of which one to go for may be impacted by the future of Kieran Trippier. Si reveals his preference from the three and if extra should be paid for Nick Pope if wanting defensive coverage.

Plus, there's another attacker that has Si's interest and the Podcast begins with chat on Eddie Howe's future with the England job available, why he's got to get the club back in the Champions League this season and there's coverage of the changes made an ownership level.

  • Day 3 of Correspondent Week kicks off with Wolves fan Bradley Parker joining James to discuss everything at Molineux and despite a very tough opening set of fixtures there's positivity around Gary O'Neil's team and they may be about to move to a back four with more frequency following the sale of Max Kilman to West Ham.

There's discussion on the three attacking 6.5 players who may appeal when the fixtures turn, Hwang Hee Chan, Matheus Cunha and Pedro Neto and there's an intro to three new exciting signings in Pedro Lima, Rodrigo Gomes and Jorgen Strand Larsen, Rayan Ait-Nouri at Jose Sa are nicely priced at 4.5 and need monitoring, whilst Bradley believes there may be a permanent 4.0 starter in the team.

But with the fixtures looking challenging should they remain a watch and wait?

  • Nottingham Forest fan and FPL Blackbox's Mark Sutherns joins James for the Day 2 conclusion of Correspondent Week to discuss all things Forest and their FPL assets, who are catching attention with a great opening set of fixtures.

Morgan Gibbs-White is talisman, captain and set to stay. He's assessed versus the cheaper and explosive Callum Hudson-Odoi and also against the plethora of choice in the 6.6 midfield range. Whilst Chris Wood is also attracting attention as a forward who should return well at 6.0, but might there be an alternative at the same price at another club who is better choice with Taiwo Awoniyi also challenging for a place?

Plus, all of the defensive assets have been priced at 4.5; Mark details who's best from the backline but there's interest in one more defender and another (yes, really) goalkeeper that means the player that might be of most interest may be yet to join the club.

Plus, Nuno Espirito Santo remains despite speculation in the spring that he might not, but it may be another year of battling against relegation and there's also an update on the club's future at The City Ground.

  • James is joined by fellow Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders to discuss all things Tottenham and begin by asking if the target for the season ahead must be qualification back into The Champions League.

Rumours would suggest that the club may be about to make a push to sign Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke, would he be the right fit and how interested should FPL managers have in him if the move happens? And what would it mean for the future of Richarlison?

There are three players in the midfield bracket at 6.5 and their prospects are assessed, James Maddison's form remains a concern, Heung-Min Son is a powerful differential who the majority are currently overlooking and Tottenham may have the most exciting 4.5 midfielder in Lucas Bergvall.

Plus, there's coverage of the brilliant youngsters in the Tottenham squad who may break into the first team this season, the backline is likely to look familiar and both Ricky and James are in agreement on the one Tottenham player they have to have in FPL.

  • Manchester United fan Gary Robinson joins James to discuss United's #FPL assets and begin with reflection on the FA Cup Final victory over rivals City and club's decision to stick with Erik Ten Haag, though some backroom appointments, including legend Ruud Van Nistelrooy have led to to James remaining cautious on the current manager's future.

Bruno Fernandes will appeal to many FPL managers at 8.5, but with Marcus Rashford back down to 7.0 and Alejandro Garnacho seemingly established and now 6.5 which, if any, of the trio is worth investing in?

Pre-season has continued with last season's theme on injuries but key centre-back Lisandro Martinez is fit again and at 4.5 offers a cheap route in to a backline, that did admittedly give up an alarming number of shots last season. Andre Onana, Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw, all 5.0 are covered but with no new holding midfielder signed (yet) should they be swerved?

Plus, Jadon Sancho is back, Mason Mount is playing, Amad Diallo is impressing and why Scott McTominay should not be discounted as possible FPL asset to consider.

  • Planet FPL Correspondent Mini-League Winner Sean Norton joins James to kick off Day 2 of Correspondent Week by discussing all things Everton including interest in their FPL assets, particularly the defensive one's.

The Toffees go into this season having had two attempted club Takeovers collapse and it's to be their final campaign at Goodison Park. What would constitute making their final season at their current home a success? Does it need to be more than just survival?

There will be interest in Everton defensive assets but Jordan Pickford, Jarrod Branthwaite and James Tarkowski are now 5.0. Should managers look at a 4.5 alternative for coverage?

Plus, there's discussion on Everton's new signings and whether Dominic Calvert-Lewin can be relied upon to lead the line on a consistent basis.

  • West Ham fan Chris Stone joins James to conclude Day 1 of Correspondent Week by discussing all things on The Hammers including their FPL assets.

Will new manager Julen Lopetegui bring back a return to 'The West Ham Way' and push the club back towards challenging for European qualification?

The club is making moves in the transfer market too, there's discussion on those already signed like Crysencio Summerville and those set to follow such as Niclas Füllkrug.

Jarrod Bowen (7.5) and Mohammed Kudus (6.5) are assessed and compared, there's the latest on Lucas Paqueta's off field situation and why he may have a deeper role in the team this season.

And should we expect more from defensive assets such as Alphonse Areola and is he the best of The Hammers defensive assets?
