Joining Welshy and Trickey this episode are Hutchi, Mahuika and the aforementioned Josh Yig who all attended the recent Powtearoa Provincial Championships in Christchurch and they are here to let you know what happened, who it happened to and how they cleaned the mess up afterwards.

So sit back and enjoy the final final episode of 2024 and we will see you again in 2025!

Its a big one this time everyone. Sorry but our editing gnomes just couldn't get it any shorter than this! They have been admonished and had their badgers confiscated.

This is a full look at all 40 of the teams being taken to the Powtearoa Provincial Champs? Gil and Jesse join us to see who could take the top spot. 10 teams of 4 will enter the fray in the first weekend of November 2024 in the beautiful garden city of Ōtautahi Christchurch.

So if you were wondering who is taking what this will answer all your questions. If you are attending the tournament yourself then get your notebooks out and start planning. Here you will hear who has Blodge, who has Guard and who has the players to counteract your stock tactics.

    Good Luck everyone!

  • Kia ora Coaches. A bumper episode this time.

We are kindly joined by friends of the show Arlo and James who both attended the recent tournament in Napier.

But first we finally get round to discussing the arrival of the new GW Chaos Dwarf team and roster. Do we like them? What do we like if we do like? What if we don't like? Will anyone care? Do we care? No, we will talk about it all anyway! We also look at the current tournament series standings as the year draws to a close.

Then we head to the sunny Hawkes Bay on the east Coast of the North Island to see hat went on at the biggest Orcs Bay Horn yet! Who did what and when? Why is Vinnie so violent? Did Quentin make a triumphant return to BB? What made Josh very happy? What makes Bobsol so much better than the rest of us in every way? and why did Mushy and Dadchop hold secret talks instead of attending the board game night at Sandune's?

All these questions and less will be answered here on episode 37 of Powtearoa - The New Zealand Blood Bowl Podcast.

    Thanks for listening!

It was only a matter of time and that time is now. James Cardno (Mahuika) joins us this episode to discuss the recent Greenstone Cup in Auckland. Luckily, Maria (Saku) joins us too and between us we manage to keep Mr Cardno under control.

So join us as we take a gentle stroll through the suburbs of the City of Sails and find out what happened at our NZ Major tournament. James and Maria tell us about their teams and games. We learn about the new depths of corruption that Glyn has been exploring. Why Necromantic teams need guard and sure hands. What happens when you cannot roll injury on Wozza's Elves, why GW saw fit to include anatomy diagrams from old biology text books in the middle of their Gnome pitch. And who, if anyone, came out on top at Greenstone. You can also play the 'When will Trickey get here' game as we go along. A packed show and we don't even find time to discuss the new Chorf team so we will leave that for another day.

Another first for Aotearoan Blood Bowl!

Two tournaments on the same weekend!

A regular occurrence in other nations but here in our teeny tiny set of islands hundreds of kilometers from everywhere else this is a big deal.

7s in Palmy and then 7s in The Hutt. Saturday and Sunday. Was this amazing series of events planned that way or was it an oversight. Lets say the first one!

This episode we are joined by Arlo who shows us that even if you win a tournament you still cannot be as amazing as Deon who is clearly the best Wellington based Blood Bowler of them all. Nonetheless this is a fine example of humble bragging. Claymore also joins us to feed in the stats from his set of super secret dossiers.

Welshy, Toffer and the Trickmeisterster are around as usual to learn from the best in the game.

Is 7's the best form of Blood Bowl? Is Trickey's Gnome obsession getting out of hand? Will we ever get a statue of Arlo? Should Dadchop and Mushster move to Twizel? All these questions and less will be answered in the 35th! episode of Powtearoa, The New Zealand Blood Bowl Podcast.

This episode we are joined for the first half by Jesse from Christchurch to discuss all the goings on at the recent Mainland Bowl in Christchurch. Some amazing news about a big future change to this tournament following by a run down of all the fun that took place down there at The Pegasus Arms. Then we get to have a quick look at the Pav and its recent addition to the Oceanic Blood Bowl scene. Beautiful new trophy. In other news, the bidding process is out for the 2027 World Cup and Trickey has plans for it to come here to beautiful Aotearoa NZ. Is he mad? yes...but is this particular idea of his mad? maybe...

  • Kia Ora and belated Happy Matariki to you all

This episode we are joined by Marlborough's second favourite Blood Bowler (they love Nutsaur the most) KingWeasel (Ben). Previous Mainland Bowl winner and organiser of our new and first BB3 league!

Together with our reunited triumvirate of Trickey, Toffer and Welshy we discuss the recent Matariki 7s in Tauranga, The ChriBBl league, our new BB3 league and go over some ideas we have for the upcoming Mainland Bowl (2 weeks people get your names down).

Have a great time everyone. May your leapers leap and your blockers block.

A big haere mai to Mushoomy who joins us this week for a less organised more meandering chat about what is going on in the NZ Blood Bowl scene this month.

We discuss all sorts of things. The 10th Capital Shield that recently happened in the beautiful Paraparaumu (thanks Mike), the FAQs and what they means for our Underworld fans, The newly formed NZBBC Blood Bowl 3 league (cheers Grub), the Pav, the NZ tournament circuit standings and whether Tussock is a cleverly designed online algorithm or a figment of Trickey's imagination.

As ever we thank you all for listening.

A big shout out to our Aussie colleagues on Down Under World Denizens Podcast (check them out here - https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-down-under-world-denizens-184968742/). Great stuff from Babs and the boys!

Another episode to delight your ears

This episode out travels take us to the deep south of Aotearoa New Zealand. To a distant city inhabited by a hardy bunch of Blood Bowlers. In this isolated and mystical place -- while the horizontal sleet flies by -- Mr Trickey plies his trade and rallies the Blood Bowl coaches to his clarion call! "Sleeping Giants awaken!!"

And awaken they have with the first ever Otepoti Bowl our newest additions to the Blood Bowl tournament scene here in our beautiful motu. Dunedin finally gets a full 11s tournament and its fair to say it has got Trickey a little over excited. So to calm him down we have given him this episode to tell us all about it. He is joined by Toffer and guest presenters Claymore and Morag (two of the tournament's attendees). So sit back and listen to tales of clashing Giants, sneaky Gnomes and the tales of our well known heroes. Of Gil the Great, Deep Thinking Arlo, Mushoomy the Mind Breaker, Claymore the Ball Loser and Morag the Crowd Surfer.

  • Kia Ora Coaches and welcome to episode 30!! of Powtearoa

This episode your usual professional crew are ably assisted by Jesse and (a little late) Mushoomy.

We have had a good rummage in our respective vegetable patches and managed to rustle up gnome teams. We have had a bit of a play and here we discuss our findings.

Mushy is also able to fill us in on the upcoming 10th annual Capital Shield tournament in sunny Paraparaumu (Get along people, its a blast!)

So is Big Rod the new Puggy? And will we all be ditching our sheep riding Halflings for a new fangled Gnome on a Stag? Or is this the arrival of some potential massed Star Player cavalry?

    Keep rolling Pow!

Another Powtearoa episode for you. This time your usual crew are joined by Bobsol and griffonz to tell us about the groundbreaking Bay of Plenty tournament. A massive number turned up for this event with a huge 12 coaches for whom this was their first tabletop tournament. Bobsol joins us to discuss this as he was among that group. Though he has been a part of our online scene for ages he is new to the tabletop tournament scene and we wanted his take on things. We also go back over some of the Gnome information we have recently received.

Aroha Mai for the lateness of this one. Took me longer to edit than intended.

    or something like that

This episode we are joined by oldhammeraotearoa Jesse from ChriBBL who is here with the rulespack for this years Powtearoa Provincial Champs. We have a good deep dive in to the pack and the tiers in particular.

We also take a quick tour of what is happening around some of the bigger centres in their leagues as we move into the 2nd quarter of 2024. Also, nice to see a new Jordell model!

  • This episode we are joined by another big name in our hobby, Babs!

Babs will be a name known to many after his work with Aussie BB and several stints working with NAF on various projects. These days he resides in Queensland but in the early days of Oceanic Blood Bowl he was part of a group who ran the first Trans Tasman BB tournament in Wellington in 1997! Take note those of you organising the Pav data. There is information to be mined here.

Babs joins us to discuss the new Gnome team and also to provide us with tales from the 90s, noughties and today. There are a lot of big name drops and some interesting historical musings. Thnks again for your continued listening! Keep playing Blood Bowl.

This episode we are joined by Owen/NZ Demon who recently attended his first NAF tournament. He brings us his rundown of the recent STUBBL 11s tournament. Brought to us by the boys from Palmerston North. This tournament has gone from strength to strength and is now a major part of the NZ Blood Bowl scene. Owen tells us about the highs and highs of his awesome weekend.

Meanwhile in the deep south The Dunedinites managed a small but perfectly formed tournament based on the FUMBBL Secret League teams and our own Trickey is able to give us the run down on how Ninjas and Sharks find their way onto a Blood Bowl pitch occasionally.

Back again for another episode of NZ's favourite Blood Bowl related Podcast!

Another first for us this week as we are joined by one of our comrades from across the Tasman. GeorgieChristo beams in via the interwebs from the beautiful city of Sydney, Australia.

Georgie and Ramchop have been concocting something to bring our nations a little closer together while also allowing us to beat each other to a bloody pulp on the astrogranite!! Our amazing NAF rep Claymore has crunched the numbers and joins us to so they can both announce this new addition to our Blood Bowl lives.

Speaking of ideas, Trickey has decided we should all be playing with 2500TV rosters so we can see what happens when we get heaps as gold to spend. Have a great rest of February everyone.

We look at whats happening in NZ Blood Bowl this coming year and Jesse and Ramchop bring us some super secret and massively exciting news about the year ahead! Will Trickey, Toff and Welshy be able to handle it?!

The Powtearoa Provincial Chaps have happened and Toffer and Welshy were there. We are also joined by friend of the show Mushoomy to get feedback on what went on in Wellington this month. Trickey is here too feeling suitably left out.

We continue to ask the bog questions. Are Re-Rolls really needed? Who is Dadchop? Do we really need music at the start and end of the episode?

Have a great end of the year everyone and we will see you all at our various leagues and tournaments in 2024!

  • The Powtearoa Provincial Chaps are nearly upon us and following a massive amount of work from players, organisers and roster checkers we can now see everyone's teams!

So lets have a look at who is doing what with who in the first ever PPC!

Massive thanks to Mushy, Ramchop and their roster checking team in Aussie for getting this job rushed through in record time.

Has Welshy been sneaky and got everyone thinking Halflings are the way to go? Has Sandune got us all thinking Underworld is the way forward or will a no re-roll Khorne team take the cake? We shall see.......
