Henny Portman studied Electronics (HTS, Utrecht) and Business Administration (Open University).
Among other things, he worked within Tiel Utrecht Verzekeringen as Head of System Development. During that period he was member of the Dutch COBOL committee and the AMBI T2 examination committee. He was also chairman of the PDI programming languages stream. After an consultancy assignment at ING Fatum, Paramaribo he worked for 5 years as head IT Netherlands for ING Investment Management.
He was responsible for the PMO within ING Investment Management Europe. He was Region PMO Head for ING Insurance Central Europe. He was responsible for the portfolio and for the set up/streamline and management of the PMO’s in Poland, Russia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Spain, Greece and Turkey and was PMO head for Insurance and Investment Management in Europe and Asia (India, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Korea).
He was PMO Consultant for NN Group. He was the thought leader of the PMO domain and responsible for the introduction and application of the PMO methodologies (portfolio, program and project management) across Europe and Japan. He trains, coaches and direct (senior) program/project managers and he is building a professional PMO community.
