Aaron here. I'll just cut to the chase: my baby is coming any day now. That said, Jack and I recorded this new episode a bit early in the week. NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK:
"Dark Tourist" is being investigated by Japan's Reconstruction Agency and Fukushima Prefectural Government. Henry Cavill will star in Netflix's new "Witcher" series. Alan Tudyk will play Mr. Nobody in DC's live-action "Doom Patrol" series. Former 'Sleepy Hollow' showrunner Len Wiseman will exec produce and direct the pilot for DC's upcoming live-action "Swamp Thing" series, which will also be exec produced by James Wan and air on their new OTT platform, DC Universe. Ellen Degeneres is returning to stand-up comedy after 15 years with a Netflix special that will premiere on December 18. NBC is expanding the "Law & Order" universe with a new series titled "Law & Order: Hate Crimes." According to The Hollywood Reporter, "the show is based on the real-life Hate Crimes Task Force within the New York Police Department. The unit works under the Special Victims Unit (the basis for SVU) within the department and often borrows SVU detectives for help with investigations." Damon Herriman, who played Dewey on "Justified," will not only be playing Charles Manson in Tarantino's new movie, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," he'll be playing Manson in season 2 of "Mindhunter." "The Walking Dead" has cast Ryan Hurst, better known as Opie from "Sons of Anarchy," to play Beta, one of the new villains in Season 9. Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott are reprising their roles as Ben and Vivien Harmon from "Murder House" for "American Horror Story: Apocalypse." Evan Peters and Taissa Farmiga will be playing Tate and Violet again, as well. In addition, all the "Coven" witches, played by Sarah Paulson, Farmiga, Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe, Lily Rabe, Stevie Nicks and Frances Conroy, will return. Clayne Crawford appeared on the Drinkin' Bros. podcast to tell his side of the "Lethal Weapon" drama. Louis CK performed a surprise set at the Comedy Cellar earlier this week and was met with a standing ovation from the majority of the men in the audience while many of the women sat stone-faced. Is it the right time for Louis to make a comeback? Rob Thomas is close to a development deal with Hulu to revive "Veronica Mars" with Kristen Bell attached as star. "Gravity Falls" creator Alex Hirsch has signed a multi-year deal with Netflix to develop original animated series and movies on the platform. "The End of the F*cking World" has been renewed for a second season, for some reason. After a few weeks of exploring the netherworld, where we battled three-headed Trump-beasts and drank from the fountains of Cola Mountain, Jack and I have finally returned to bellow our opinions into the TV chasm. Didja miss us?
In all seriousness, Jack started a new job at CryptTV and was in heavy production mode which had us go dark for a time. I can only assume that'll be happening more frequently as Baby Pruner touches down.

NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK:
CNN is doing a full-length documentary about Anthony Bourdain that will be released in theaters sometime in 2019. Season 3 of "Stranger Things" will take place in 1985 and obviously reference "Back to the Future," but according to David Harbour, the new season will also make multiple references to the movie "Fletch." Netflix has renewed both "GLOW" and "Anne with an E" for a third season. Netflix has canceled "The Joel McHale Show" and "The Break with Michelle Wolf." "Castle Rock" has been renewed for a second season on Hulu. "Knightfall" â History Channel's series about the Knights of the Templar â has been renewed for a second season and Mark Hamill is joining the cast. USA has ordered a Jason Bourne TV series called "Treadstone." Production is set to begin in 2019. According to THR, "the first season will follow sleeper agents â none of them played by Matt Damon â across the globe as they're instructed to carry out deadly missions." Before it could even open, a "Rick and Morty" pop-up bar was shut down by Turner Broadcasting. Welcome back, Clinkers. We took a bit of a hiatus after San Diego Comic-Con. Basically, things have been a bit busy over here in Punch Drunk world. Jack got a new job at CryptTV. Aaron's been buried in his school-work and the current Television Critics Association Summer Tour. But finally, we're back. And we missed you.
NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK:
The final season of "Parts Unknown" will premiere to CNN in the fall. AMC has completed its investigation against Chris Hardwick and is letting him return to hosting duties on "Talking with Chris Hardwick." He will also return as host of NBC's "The Wall" and appear as a guest judge on the new season of "America's Got Talent." HBO has greenlit their long-rumored "Deadwood" TV movie. Fox finally released the details of Seann William Scott's character in Season 3 of "Lethal Weapon." Spoiler: he's not playing Riggs' brother. Fox is developing a "24" prequel series because Fox hasn't learned from their mistakes. There is an "ALF" TV reboot in development at Warner Bros. We have officially begun counting down till San Diego Comic-Con! So, of course, that means Aaron and Jack spend a good portion of the episode talking about the TV goodies (or lack there-of) happening next week.
The Emmy nominations were also announced this week, so we not only try to figure out who will win in this insane race but dig through some of the snubs (ie: No Twin Peaks or Last Man on Earth!) For shame!
NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK:
Game of Thrones Peter Dinklage scored his seventh Emmy nomination for supporting actor in a drama series. Dinklage is now the most nominated person ever in the category. Sandra Oh becomes first Asian woman to score lead actress Emmy nom for Killing Eve. FX has renewed Pose for a second season Three new Archie comics series are in the works. The first of which is an updated animated incarnation of Archie and his friends. There have been numerous Archie cartoons in the past, but this one will reportedly lean more towards comedy than the current comic book series or even Riverdale. The second show is also an animated series, with Josie from Josie and the Pussycats in the lead. That series is described as a "horror-tinged" story. The third is a live-action adaptation of Sam Hill, a private detective character whose adventures have only been sporadically published within the last few decades. Sam Hill is far from an obvious choice for an adaptation, but it could be a sign that the company is attempting to expand its reach. The accompanying report states the three shows are being pitched to streaming services and broadcast networks. Season 22 of South Park will premiere on September 26. FX's Y: The Last Man series has been cast. Barry Keoghan has been signed to portray Yorick Brown, an amateur escape artist and the only human male who survived a catastrophic plague that nearly wiped out his gender. Yorick and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand, may be the only two male mammals left alive. Imogen Poots will play Hero Brown, Yorickâs sister and an EMT who has her own burdens to bear in the new world. Diane Lane will co-star as Senator Jennifer Brown, Yorick and Heroâs mother. Captain Marvel co-star Lashana Lynch has nabbed the fan favorite role of Agent 355, a Secret Service operative who becomes Yorickâs protector and one of the most memorable characters in the comic. NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK:
Yvette Nicole Brown will replace Chris Hardwick at Comic-Con as the moderator for "The Walking Dead" and "Fear the Walking Dead "panels Clive Barker is rebooting "Nightbreed" as a TV series for SYFY. Jordan Peele is developing a Sci-Fi anthology series titled "Weird City" for YouTube. Co-created and written by Peele and "Key & Peele's" Charlie Sanders, Weird City is "set in the not-too-distant future metropolis of Weird. Each episode will explore issues that pertain to present-day life in Weird â stories that can only be told through the prism of sci-fi and comedy. The six-episode effort is expected to debut on YouTube Premium in 2019." A "Halo" live-action TV series is coming to Showtime in 2019. Danny McBride and John Goodman will star in a new half-hour comedy series on HBO called "The Righteous Gemstones." According to THR, "McBride created the project and will pen the script, executive produce, direct and star in the story of a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed and charitable work, all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ." HBO is developing a new half-hour comedy from Fred Armisen and Lorne Michaels called "Los Espookys." The show will be entirely in Spanish and set in "a strange and dreamy version of present-day Mexico City and follows a group of friends turning their love for horror into a peculiar business." "Lucifer" has been picked up for a fourth season by Netflix Amazon has ordered the one-hour animated series "Invincible," based on Robert Kirkman's comic book. Alex Kurtzman ("Fringe," "The Mummy," "Hawaii Five-0") has inked an overall $25-million dollar deal with CBS TV studios and is looking to expand the "Star Trek" universe with multiple series, including a possible project involving Patrick Stewart. An "Aeon Flux" live-action TV reboot is in development at MTV. The AT&T - Time Warner Merger has been approved. David Simon, who was banned from Twitter for a day because he told someone to "drop dead" says his next HBO show, which is a Capital Hill-set drama, has been in limbo for three years, thanks to Donald Trump. Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans sound like just a nightmare. "MST3K" has announced a 30th-anniversary live tour may be coming to a city near you. It will feature reboot host Jonah Ray, Crow, Tom Servo ⊠and Joel Hodgson. Hodgson wrote in a statement, "Weâll be performing two completely different shows as part of the tour, featuring two incredibly strange and cheesy feature films: The Brain, a Canadian sci-fi suburban nightmare, and Deathstalker, a fun sword and sandal epic with some surprisingly muppety monsters! As with last year, these are two completely different shows theyâll be alternating throughout the tour. Beginning on October 9 in Portland, ME, the tour will last six weeks, span 29 cities, and comprise 42 shows. Tickets go on sale to the general public 10 pm ET on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. New Episodes of "Queer Eye" is hitting Netflix on June 15! The new episodes will feature the show's first female and trans male subjects. "The Simpsons" creator Matt Groening is bringing his first new series to TV in 20 years. It's called "Disenchantment" and according to Mashable, "The series will follow the misadventures of "hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci." The report continues, saying, "As they go about their adventures, the trio will encounter "ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools." Idris Elba is set to direct, produce, and star as Quasimodo in a modern retelling of Victor Hugoâs classic, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," for Netflix. Sure. Damon Lindelof says his "Watchmen" series will not be an adaptation of the comics or a sequel to the movie, instead saying, it'll be "a remix." Via The Hollywood Reporter, Lindelof says, "Those original twelve issues are our Old Testament. When the New Testament came along, it did not erase what came before it. Creation. The Garden of Eden. Abraham and Isaac. The Flood. It all happened. And so it will be with Watchmen. The Comedian died. Dan and Laurie fell in love. Ozymandias saved the world and Dr. Manhattan left it just after blowing Rorschach to pieces in the bitter cold of Antarctica. To be clear. Watchmen is canon.â Netflix has canceled their "Arrested Development" press tour in the UK following backlash against Jeffrey Tambor. Barack and Michelle Obama have inked a multi-year production deal with Netflix where they will be creating new documentaries, docu-series, feature-length movies, and other types of content. Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis â the co-showrunners of ABC's "Once Upon a Time" â have replaced Bryan Fuller as the new showrunners for Apple's "Amazing Stories." FOX and WWE are close to a five-year $1-billion dollar deal to bring Smackdown to the network. Raw will stay on USA. We're now at that weird time between show seasons. With Summer shows around the corner and most shows coming to an end, what sorta batshit crazy things are we going to be watching over the next month? That is the question.
In the meantime, The Network UpFronts are done and it seems that the Red Wedding has come to Fox. The network almost killed all of their comedies. But at least Stiffler is coming to "Lethal Weapon" ... right?
NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK:
Clayne Crawford has been replaced by Seann William Scott for Season 3 of "Lethal Weapon." It's unclear what will happen to Riggs in the story, but Scott will come in as a new unruly cop character for Damon Wayans' Murtaugh to team up with. Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon will return as Cord and Tish to cover the Royal Wedding on HBO. It's titled "The Royal Wedding Live with Cord and Tish!" and will premiere May 19 at 7:30 pm. Jordan Peele will executive produce a new 10-episode nazi-hunting series for Amazon called "The Hunt." Set in the 1970s, the series "starts from a vaguely real-world premiseâformer Nazis living undercover in New Yorkâand quickly gets TV-show-over-the-top with it, suggesting that the âhundredsâ of secret Germans are plotting the rise of a âFourth Reichâ in the heart of the Big Apple." According to Entertainment Weekly, "Arrested Development's" 16-episode fifth season will be split into two halves, with one premiering May 29 and the other coming by the end of the year. Netflix is getting in on the horror anthology trend with a new series, "Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight." According to Variety, Del Toro will serve as executive producer on the series, and reportedly wants to write and direct select âequally sophisticated and horrificâ episodes himself; the rest will come from writers and filmmakers personally selected by the director. "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." has been renewed for a sixth season. According to AV Club, "the show will return for a 13-episode run next summer, most likely giving viewers a nice gap between the May release of Avengers 4 and the showâs season premiere. This way, half of the cast can still be obliterated and then resurrected without undercutting whatever the movie does to pull it offâwhich weâre all guessing involves time travel, right?" Batwoman will make her debut in CW's next Superhero crossover event. This will be the first time any of the "Arrow"-related shows will be making a direct connection to the Batman universe. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Epix has just ordered 10 episodes of "Pennyworth," a show dedicated to Batmanâs butler Alfred when he first began working for Bruce Wayneâs father. The show will emphasize Alfredâs past as a former British SAS officer living in 1960s London, so it will be as far removed from the classic Batman mythology as possible. DC Universe announced a new 13-episode live action series for the streaming service based on "Doom Patrol." A press release from Warner Bros. says "Doom Patrol" will be about a team of super-powered people who have all been scarred and traumatized by various tragedies until someone known as The Chief comes along and enlists them in a mission to investigate 'the weirdest phenomena in existence.'"NOTEWORTHY CANCELLATIONS:

How is it that after one week of not recording, there seems to be even more TV shows we are behind on? Is it even possible to stay up to date on everything when a new show is constantly premiering? Damn, do you remember how shitty TV entertainment used to be before LOST, Mad Men and Breaking Bad? Well, do you?
NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK:
"The Walking Dead" Season 8 finale brought in 7.9 million viewers â it was the highest rated show of the night, but it was the show's lowest-rated finale since Season 1 â which was watched by 6 million people. Carey Elwes and Jake Busey have joined the cast of "Stranger Things" for Season 3. According to Deadline, Elwes will be playing Larry Kline, the mayor of Hawkins, who was described as âA classic, 80âs style slick politician. Pathetic and driven only by his own interests. The studio is looking for a male, aged from 40s-60s, to fill the role." Busey will be playing a character named Bruce, who was described as âa morally compromised news reporter in his 50sâ who is âoutwardly sexist, overweight and bedraggled.â Idris Elba is going to Netflix. The service has handed out a straight-to-series, eight-episode order for half-hour entry "Turn Up Charlie," an original comedy created by, starring and exec produced by the "Luther" Emmy nominee. According to THR, "Elba will star in the comedy as Charlie, a struggling DJ and eternal bachelor, who is given a final chance at success when he reluctantly becomes a manny to his famous best friend's problem-child daughter." Comedy Central confirms that Season 5 of "Broad City" will be its final season. Smart move going out on their terms. And with the recent announcement that Amazon is developing an "A League of Their Own" TV series â with Abbi Jacobson co-writing and executive producing â it looks like she'll be keeping busy. I wonder if Alana is good at sports? Nat Geo says Season 3 of its series "Genius" will be about Mary Shelley. Season 2, which is about Pablo Picasso, premieres on Tuesday, the 24th. ABC has once again ordered a 13-episode spinoff to "The Goldbergs." It's currently untitled and will be taking place in the '90s.RECENT RENEWALS & CANCELLATIONS:

The streaming service is planning on producing at least five seasons and it'll cost around $1 billion dollars to make. "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" will end after Season 4. The CW has renewed "Arrow," "Black Lightning," "Legends of Tomorrow," "Dynasty," "The Flash," "Jane the Virgin," "Riverdale," "Supergirl" and "Supernatural." Donald and Stephen Glover are no longer working on FX's "Deadpool" animated series. After the news hit, Glover released his entire script for the pilot online 18 million people tuned into "Roseanne" when it returned to TV on Tuesday. And in a speech in Ohio on Tuesday, which was supposed to be about infrastructure, Donald Trump ended up taking the credit for those ratings. Stormy Daniels' 60 Minutes interview brought the show's highest ratings in 10 years â that's 22 million viewers Steven Spielberg came out against Netflix movies being nominated for Oscars. If it's released in the TV format, it should be considered a TV movie and only be considered for Emmys. Do we agree? Netflix has renewed four unscripted shows: "Queer Eye," the docuseries "Dope," the baking competition series "Nailed It," and the docuseries "The Toys That Made Us" Get excited, Jack. NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK:
The "Stranger Things" cast just got huge pay raises. Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, and Caleb McLaughlin all will go from about $30,000 per episode to somewhere between $200,000 and $250,000. Millie Bobby Brownâs bump was apparently even bigger, but Deadline doesnât offer specifics. David Harbour and Winona Ryder are making somewhere ânorth of $300,000" after their own salary bumps. Series regulars Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton are only making between $100,000 and $150,000, which seems low for how important they are to the series, but they both got overshadowed by Joe Keery during season two. Kathy Bates will return for Season 8 of "American Horror Story" because, duh. Ryan Murphy revealed at PaleyFest: âKathy and Sarah Paulson have a lot of great stuff to get to do. So, with Evan Peters, the three of them are the leads this year.â John Constantine will become a series regular on DC's "Legends of Tomorrow." That is if The CW renews the show for a fourth season. NBC has given an extended order for more "Will & Grace" episodes this season. The network already ordered a second season before the reboot's premiere and just ordered a third season (or 11th season, if you're keeping track). Jerry O'Connell has been cast as Sheldon's older brother Georgie on "The Big Bang Theory" and will appear in the Season 11 finale Netflix has secured the international rights to all of the Monty Python movies as well as many TV series including "Flying Circus." Based on Philippa Gregory's series of books, the newest series is "The Spanish Princess" which "returns viewers to the world of royal court intrigue as seen uniquely through the perspective of the women, but also sheds light on a previously untold corner of history â the lives of people of color, living and working in 16th century London." Hulu is developing a series about the "Satanic Panic" of the late '80s and early '90s. The series is called "Demons," and according to THR, the drama will "revolve around Marilyn Jones, the seductive "patient zero" in the frenzy surrounding satanic ritual abuse, and her husband, Bennett Lewis, a brilliant but manipulative psychiatrist. In success, each season of Demons would explore a twisted crime affected by the couple's dark exploration into the fragile nature of memory and guilt." MTV is expanding its "TRL" franchise to add late night and morning editions of the program. Nerdist reported on a rumor that FOX may be interested in rebooting "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Barack and Michelle Obama are in early talks with Netflix to produce a new global series for the platform. The deal is said to be focused on a series that would highlight inspirational stories, not anything to serve as a direct rebuttal to current President Donald Trump or his policies. Bronson Pinchot, aka Balki from "Perfect Strangers," has been cast as a recurring character in Netflix's "Sabrina" series. Pinchot will recur as George Hawthorne, "Baxter High's villainous, puritanical principal. He is a constant thorn in Sabrina's side and is always trying to thwart her escapades." Disney Jr is working on a new "Rocketeer" animated series.
