  • Many people believe that improving lifestyle means you won't need to take medication and conversely many people think that if you take medication, you don’t need to change your lifestyle.

This is part of the “this or that” thinking. It's very rigid and can be a judgemental way of viewing things. There are influencers out there who blame people if they take medications suggesting that if they just improved their lifestyle, they wouldn't need pills and potions. By the same token, there are plenty of doctors who quickly reach for the script pad when lifestyle changes could indeed negate the need for drugs.

In today's episode Dr Mary and Dr Lucy discuss this phenomenon, why it occurs and why they believe it’s not this or that but this and that.
