  • Dr Helen takes us on her mission to better understand the female form and women’s health. We discuss why there is such a huge misunderstanding when it comes to the female productive system and how she aims to make her knowledge accessible and translatable.
Understanding menstrual cycles: We journey through the rhythmic and cyclical expressions of our hormones and how they can cause many intense psychological, anatomical and physical changes within our body. Dr Helen helps us to understand each phase of the menstrual cycle and what it means for us and our mood.
The Male Hormonal System: We discover how profound the hormonal impact is on men by exploring their natural 24 hour cycle of hormones in comparison to a female lunar cycle. Dr Helen also draws parallels between other natural cycles and how, as humans, they all impact our capabilities to complete certain tasks.
Fear of the Female Form: We unpick fears surrounding female anatomy and form. Dr Helen explains how we have mirrored feelings passed on through our parents and the impact this has on society's understanding of it.
Infertility: It’s a conversation that I feel so many people are having. I ask Dr Helen about the increasing rate of infertility and why those statistics have changed over the years. We look beyond the statistics by looking into our own health and genetics to get a more honest analysis of our reproductive health. We also dispel some myths surrounding fertility such as drinking, contraception and age. We also touch on freezing eggs and why she isn’t afraid to say she got pregnant by accident.
The Choice: Often women can feel the need to make a choice between success and motherhood. We discuss the powerful and profound skillset that females naturally have and why we choose to ignore our maternal instincts. Dr Helen also gives a personal account of what motherhood means to her and how it transformed her perspective

  • Today I am delighted to be joined by Steph Claire Smith. Steph is an Australian model, entrepreneur and was one of the original Aussie influencers who I have followed from the very beginning. She has gained popularity through her lifestyle, fitness and wellness content.

Steph’s influence extends far beyond the world of modelling, as she uses her platform to discuss issues surrounding mental health, self-care, and how to make healthy lifestyle choices.

Steph first met her best friend, Laura Henshaw, when she was just nineteen before moving to New York where she began modelling and documenting her life on social media. It was when Steph came back to her hometown of Melbourne that she reconnected with Laura and their journey into entrepreneurship truly began.

Steph reflects on that period of navigating her way through her young adult life, away from her family and friends. She shares the obstacles she encountered during her modelling career and the impact this had on her own self esteem. Steph was simultaneously building an online career and modelling portfolio which placed her under the spotlight of intense scrutiny, judgement and pressures from external influences. We discuss how Steph managed to overcome that self-doubt and stop herself from falling into ‘the comparison trap’.

We also discuss the ‘Creator Economy’ and how she was able to organically build her brand alongside her best friend and business partner to continue to feed their new and existing online community. We journey through the lessons she learnt building her first business and how she’s managed to make a success out of her relationship with Laura and her love of health and fitness.

Whilst our Saturn Return can be an explosive and uncomfortable period, Saturn can also help us to solidify the things that have been in motion in our lives for a while. At 29, Steph is now a Mother to a highly successful business and to Harvey, her first Son, who she shares with her husband. We discuss the gender roles in their household and how they came to the decision that her husband would be a stay-at-home father.

  • This week I’m delighted to be joined by Alex Light, a body confidence advocate, journalist, chart-topping podcast host and founder of Light LDN.
Alex started her career in magazine journalism where she wrote about celebrities, fashion and beauty. Her Instagram was a space for her to share her love for these topics but whilst it appeared she was #livingherbestlife, Alex was actually battling an eating disorder. Now, she has successfully created a platform that encourages body positivity and champions women’s unfiltered bodies.
At 26, Alex began using her social platform to document her recovery and was astounded at the amount of people who resonated with her story. We discuss the relationship Alex has with her body and the steps she took to mend and cultivate what was one of the biggest tormentors in her life. Alex is on a mission to expose unrealistic beauty standards and diet culture to help others combat their own feelings of shame and self-loathing.
Alex deconstructs some of the messaging that has permeated into our collective psyche from being a young woman and how diet culture is a tool of the patriarchy. She shares the importance of recognising and detangling those beliefs whilst also encouraging us to commit to refraining from commenting on people's looks, regardless of the intention.
Saturn can bring change and awakening in mind, body and soul. Alex discusses how this contentment came with age, coinciding with her Saturn Return. Alex also shares how she transformed her internal critic into self-compassion in order to reach that space of contentment within herself. She takes us on her own path of healing whilst delving deep into the emotions that have come up for her during this time of self-reflection.

  • The lessons we learn during our Saturn Return can be extremely challenging, deeply personal and hard hitting. But ultimately, they’re there to teach us how to live our most authentic and fulfilled lives.

In today’s episode, I delve into the inspiring journey of Poppy Jamie, a recognized Forbes’ 30 under 30 luminary, UN Global Goals advocate, British wellness entrepreneur, TV host, and best-selling author on a mission to empower mental wellbeing.

At 25, Poppy was running three businesses, splitting her time between New York and LA, as well as keeping up with friends, family and socialising. But by 29 she was hospitalised with chronic fatigue and was forced to slam on the brakes.

Poppy takes us through her quest to decondition her attitudes towards her own working habits. From addressing the guilt she faced if she felt she hadn’t done enough, our need for perfectionism, to observing the ways in which stress and exhaustion was manifesting in her own body. Deconditioning created space for flexible thinking and new and healthier ways of living her life. She talks about how movement such as walking and dancing has been essential for good mental health and how she now prioritises rest above all else. A concept which may seem quite alien to most of us but something I think we can all relate to needing more of.

She discusses the global impact of her mental wellbeing app, Happy Not Perfect, and her latest role as co-founder of a stealth start-up. Poppy also opens up about the power of female friendships, her personal and professional growth, the challenges of life in Los Angeles, and her battle with orthorexia.

Sharing Saturnian lessons learned while launching three businesses, she touches on the cultural attitudes towards therapy in the UK and US, the struggle for identity in entrepreneurship, and the vital shift from overworking to the art of unwinding. Lastly, Poppy reflects on the importance of spiritual practice and embracing vulnerability with a good dose of humour.

  • Saturn returns is all about embracing and finding our true path, even if it means veering off the well-trodden one. It’s about resilience, adaptability, and finding a sustainable way of living that truly resonates with us.

So I’m thrilled to be joined by Sarah Wilson In today’s episode of Saturn Returns. A former journalist, Cosmopolitan Australia's editor, and MasterChef Australia host who has truly lived a life less ordinary.

At 34, facing a life-threatening autoimmune disease, Sarah chose to quit sugar, a decision that not only managed her symptoms but also led to the creation of the global “I Quit Sugar” movement. She documented her journey and insights, encouraging others to embrace a healthier, sugar-free lifestyle.

This period of transformation led to Sarah embracing a more unconventional life, choosing a much more minimalist simple life, focused on travel, nature and discovery. Sarah officially jumped off the hedonic treadmill, moving away from her successful media empire to live in a forest army shed.

Her experiences, including her battles with bipolar disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder, are candidly shared in her book "First We Make the Beast Beautiful." Here, she reimagines anxiety, turning it into a source of strength and advocating for living authentically amidst life's chaos.

We discuss Sarah’s latest book, "This One Wild and Precious Life," which addresses the collective feelings of anxiety and disconnection prevalent in today's world, fostering a sense of community and connection. She explores the modern challenges facing humanity, including climate change, political unrest, and the pervasive feelings of emptiness despite material abundance and how a shift to live more sustainably is not only essential, but will also lead to more happiness and fulfilment.

Join us in this episode as we explore Sarah’s journey and uncover the transformative power of living a wild and precious life.

  • In today's episode, I have the privilege of sitting down with the incredible Ruby Warrington, a best-selling author whose journey is nothing short of inspiring. Ruby's books, 'Sober Curious' and her latest release 'Women Without Kids,' delve deep into the profound decisions that we often grapple with in our lives, particularly when it comes to the intricate path of motherhood.

In this heartfelt conversation, Ruby generously shares her personal odyssey, taking us on a transformative journey that encompasses two of her most significant life questions. We explore her decision to embrace sobriety and her journey into mysticism, a path that led her to critically examine the role of children in her own life.

Ruby opens up about those pivotal moments when she came to the realisation that her relationship with alcohol no longer served her spiritual growth. She candidly describes the shift from seeking solace in it to acknowledging that it conflicted with her true self, which is something I deeply relate to.

Our discussion delves deep into Ruby's journey of self-discovery, where she courageously confronts her decision to remain child-free. She reflects on her upbringing and the complex dynamics within her family environment, shedding light on how they influenced her perspective.

As we journey through her twenties, Ruby shares her thought-provoking experiences, marked by internalising societal pressures to become a mother. We ponder the rise of feminism in a predominantly masculine world and the influence it may have had on our own perceptions of motherhood and femininity. Questions arise: Can we maintain autonomy and pursue a career while being devoted mothers? Are we enough if we choose not to have children? Should we attempt to make ourselves want children to fit societal norms?

Ruby takes us through her emotional yet liberating quest to answer these profound questions, ultimately leading her to write 'Women Without Kids.' This remarkable book provides much-needed balance and insight into the multifaceted aspects of this pivotal life choice.

Throughout our conversation, Ruby offers sage advice to those wrestling with the complex and deeply personal decision of motherhood. She emphasises the importance of embracing a more balanced perspective and underscores that there is no one-size-fits-all answer. This episode is a testament to Ruby's journey and her unwavering commitment to empowering women to make choices that authentically align with their true selves.
