    On June 8, last year, on Episode 115, we had had a very special guest on this podcast – Joel Godi. The social psychologist, social entrepreneur and coach, whose life changed after discovering that he was neurodivergent, ADHD & Autistic (ASD1) in his early 40s, had been on a mission ever since to improve the quality of life of the neurodivergent community. Through his company NeuroGifted¼, Joel worked tirelessly to create awareness and education, give voice to the neurodivergent community through advocacy, improve employability, help support neurodiversity initiatives and create value for individuals and organizations.

    On October 7 this year, the world lost a true gem of a person with Joel’s sudden demise.

    The Shiny Happy People podcast is committed now more than ever to take Joel’s legacy and his work on neuro-diversity to more people – we bring you this re-release of Vinay’s conversation with Joel from Episode 115 as a tribute to an extraordinary human being who touched the lives of many, many people, and more than that, gave a new meaning to their existence.

Meet the veritable Jack Sim, better known globally as ‘Mr. Toilet’, Founder of the World Toilet Organization, the global non-profit which has been working to improve toilet and sanitation conditions worldwide since 2001. Today, it has 15 members and has now grown to 151 member organizations in 53 countries.

    The Singaporean serial entrepreneur whose motto is ‘to live a useful life’ has started and run 16 businesses and 8 social businesses. Jack then retired at age 40 to devote his time towards changing the world. He has founded the Restroom Association of Singapore in 1998 and created the UN World Toilet Day observed on November 19 every year.

    On today’s episode, meet Samuel H Kim, Founding President of the Center for Asia Leadership Initiatives (CALI), whose early work in diplomacy, international development, social entrepreneurship and research led him to start an organization that is today helping key leaders in multiple spheres in Asia build robust frameworks, devise effective policies, and formulate new strategies for increasing their communities’ growth and sustainability. Samuel oversees over 50 projects every year!

    Samuel also co-leads the annual Asian Leadership Conference and Asia Leadership Forum, in which over 350 global leaders representing 280 entities from 110 countries join forces to discuss solutions for the world’s most pressing problems. Samuel has worked in a wide range of sectors, ranging from strategy consulting, social entrepreneurship, and international development to politics, the military, and Korea’s national government. He has also served as a Fellow at Harvard University’s Asia Center and at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He holds an MPA from Harvard, an MA from Seoul National, and an LLB from Handong Universities. Oh, and he has also edited fourteen books to date!

    A passionate and pragmatic facilitator and trainer with a dynamic personality, a great sense of humour and the warmth of real humanity – that’s Gerardo de Luzenberger, our guest on today’s episode, in a nutshell. This Certified Professional Facilitator | Master is the current Global Chair of IAF (International Association of Facilitators) – before this, he served on the IAF Board from 2018 till 2022 as Director of Professional Development.

    Gerardo’s journey in facilitation dates to the 90s – he was one of the first to bring facilitation to Italy, and he founded the Scuola di Facilitazione, the first Italian initiative aiming at training facilitators and team leaders, in partnership with Bureau Frank Little (the Netherlands). His consulting firm, Gerardo de Luzenberger sas specializes in stakeholders’ engagement, participatory planning, deliberative democracy, conflict and change management, organizational development.

    Meet the award-winning wildlife biologist and conservationist, Sanjay Gubbi who works extensively on the conservation of large carnivores like tigers and leopards, proposing conservation policies for their protection, and minimizing human-wildlife conflict. The PhD holder in Leopard Ecology and Conservation has won the Whitley Award (Green Oscars) in 2017 and the Co-Existence Award in 2019 and he has authored several books and articles in English and Kannada.

    Through his organization Holematthi Nature Foundation, Sanjay and his team are working tirelessly to help conserve and protect the wildscapes of Karnataka, working closely with locals and the government to provide alternatives for forest-based resources to local communities, conduct outreach programmes to improve awareness on wildlife conservation, and mitigating human-wildlife conflict.
