Episodes

  • In Episode 31, Jessica and Lexie had the pleasure of chatting with Lianne Kim, business coach and founder of Mamas & Co. - a community for mama entrepreneurs.

Lianne is on a mission to help women make a great living doing what they love, and her passion and enthusiasm for her work definitely radiated throughout the episode!

As the title suggests, our topic today was all about not settling for less or for “good enough”. We discussed the three areas where women tend to settle in their lives, making achieving their goals harder to reach.

Lianne shared lessons learned from her experiences working with clients, and how she often sees that women, mamas, and business owners are watering down their goals for fear of pushing through the glass ceiling.

This episode is for you if you’re ready to take the next steps in your business, if you’re feeling stuck at all in your career, and if you’re done settling for “good enough” and ready to go after the dream!

  • While we ultimately landed on the topic of getting littles organized, our conversation with Lauren Mang of Let Me Organize It went so much deeper.

We discussed everything from using holistic home organization to save time and energy to setting boundaries and living mindfully, and even how to make organization fun for the whole family! Lauren has such a wealth of knowledge and experience that it would have been challenging not to discuss all of the above.

In her business Get Littles Organized, Lauren helps families with children ranging from six months to six years - and beyond - make organization approachable and achievable (without the dreaded heaviness of “chores”). We also discuss how these simple shifts in the home - that involve the entire family - will help set your littles up for success later in life.

Lauren is launching a program this month called Calm your Chaos, which will help families with the latter. We highly recommend you check it out!

  • In Episode 28, Lexie talks about how using intention in your daily life can help you to find more presence.

Especially now, with the holidays quickly approaching, it is important to be able to slow down and allow yourself to rest, celebrate, find peace, and recharge for the year ahead. This is not a time for quick, fiery action, but a time to harvest the fruits of your labor.

As you add the lenses of intention into your daily life, you’ll find yourself able to make better - more aligned - decisions. Be intentional with your time. Be intentional with what you eat. Be intentional with how you show up for yourself and for others. You can be intentional about your fitness, getting outside, or even simply taking 5 minutes a day for self care.

If you struggle with being present or prioritizing and making space for what is important to you, then listen in as Lexie shares easy, actionable ways to set and keep intentions top of mind.

  • The idea of being an entrepreneur and starting a business sounds so glamorous, but for a lot of us it’s not an actual possibility (at least right now). If you’re the breadwinner in the family, the one providing insurance, or just not interested in being an entrepreneur in general, our guest Phallyn Folse is here to recognize it and meet you where you’re at.

After experiencing the reality of a toxic workplace herself Phallyn decided to take matters into her own hands and change her reality, without changing jobs. Now, she’s here to help others do the same.

Through mindfulness practices and Feng Shui, Phallyn helps her clients transform their toxic and draining work situations into positive ones, where they can come home at the end of the day feeling fulfilled.

I loved this conversation so much, as it is such a nice balance to the “start your own business” conversations that are out there. While I know Jess and I are big believers in finding your purpose and taking action, we know that it’s not always an option. If you’re feeling stuck, drained, or uninspired by your work, then this is the episode for you!

  • It’s October and with it comes a new intention of the month! This month’s theme is actually, well, “intention”. How to use it to make decisions that are in alignment with your highest purpose, and how to quiet all of the noise that tries to pull you away from it.

In this episode, Lexie discusses how it becomes harder and harder to make guided choices when we are inundated with ads and “solutions” every day. In fact, we see up to 10,000 ads per day! No wonder it’s hard to make decisions.

She specifically calls out why you might not be manifesting your goals because you’re stuck in a cycle of defining your success by giving away your power. For example, are you someone who takes course after course trying to prove your worthiness or to seek perfection in the process, but then somehow you keep coming up short?

Because Lexie also has been stuck in that cycle, she specifically speaks to courses as an example, and provides valuable tips for finding alignment before moving forward with an investment or another opportunity where you’re allowing someone else to define you or your process.

  • In Episode 25, Jess shares her viewpoint on self-worth - what she believes makes her worthy, what she is worthy of, and how she makes space for it all.

We also discuss how to recognize if negative self-worth patterns are setting you back, and how to ask your partner, friends, family, etc. for help so that you can begin to align with your worthiness.

There are so many things that can hold us back from stepping into our worth - from imposter syndrome and perceived lack of knowledge to financial situations and more. We touch on a few in the episode and share examples of our own negative self-worth habits, like not speaking up for what we want. And, that a lot of the time what we desire is on the other side of a difficult conversation or a fear that we carry.

If you missed out on the self-worth challenge, do not fret! These questions and mantras can be practiced at any time, anywhere. The only way forward is through!

    September Intention Setting Journal Prompts:

What makes you worthy? What are you worthy of?Why do you identify the above with your worth?Where in your life can you make space for what you are worthy of?Are you attaching your self-worth to how others see you?

Create a mantra for your month and tape it up to your mirror, create a daily phone reminder, or even make it your cell phone background:

“I am worthy of____ because ____.”

“I am making space for _____ because I am worthy.”

  • One of the most important things that Jess and I believe women deserve to feel is the confidence to advocate for themselves. Whether that’s in their workplace, with health professionals, in their personal life, or even in pregnancy, being your best advocate is so important.

In Episode 24, we chatted with Certified Nurse-Midwife, Nancy Pol, of Emergence Midwifery + Wellness. Our conversation includes everything from what working with a midwife looks like to how Nancy started her practice, and even how she provides her team with multiple weeks off during the holiday season. (By advocating for boundaries and expressing expectations, of course!)

We also chat about the importance of following your intuition as a woman, advocating for your needs, and stepping out of fear to achieve the outcome you desire. So often, our voices are silenced by our desire to fit in or be “easy going”, while our intuition is screaming at us that something isn’t right or that this isn’t what we want.

Being able to listen in and speak up for yourself is a powerful self-worth skill, and so incredibly important - especially when you’re about to bring life into the world! We were so grateful to have Nancy on the podcast to talk about her soul-driven purpose, and express the importance of these topics. If you are local to the Phoenix area and expecting you can connect with Nancy at www.emergencemidwifery.com. And, follow along with her on Instagram at Instagram/emergence_midwifery.

  • In Episode 23, we sat down with Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Michelle Peris, about her journey toward becoming a leader and mentor in women’s empowerment. Michelle takes her work beyond traditional medicine and leads women’s circles through her business, The Wild Collective.

This episode is for you if you’re at all interested in tapping into your feminine power, standing in your intuitive knowledge of that power, and connecting with women who will uplift you and encourage you on your journey toward living a “wildly” unapologetic life.

Connection, Community, “The Village” - she affectionately believes is the key to it all. And, oh, did we dive into that topic!

  • In Episode 22, I sit down with Tessa George - a psychic medium and intuitive coach - to talk about all things intuition, mediumship, spiritual awakenings, and more.

Tessa helps her clients connect with spirit and loved ones, develop their intuitive abilities, and ultimately understand what is holding them back from living their most authentic and purposeful life.

This episode was so full of juicy nuggets and affirmations to help you recognize if you are on the right path, and that intuitively you already know the answer anyway. Everything that you need - in each and every one of you - is already inside of you. Tessa shares this idea, as well as how some people lose sight of this, and brings to light the path forward.

  • In Episode 21, we set an intention for September around the idea of self worth. Below are some of the questions we explore in this month’s intention setting episode to help you create your own personal intention and mantra for the month.

I invite you to answer these questions, sit with them, explore the ideas further, come back to the episode (or your journal prompts) again halfway through the month and again at the end, and ultimately give yourself some grace!

    September Intention Setting Journal Prompts:

  • Episode 20 is our first ever solo episode! It’s a quick, here and now episode with Lexie surrounding the simple idea of presence…

In the episode, I talk about a recent event that had “checked me” into remembering that there is so much beauty in the mundane. The today. The present. The everyday. I felt called to bring this message forward because I know that presence is something a lot of people struggle to find.

We live in a busy world that is constantly tugging at us to plan for what’s next, so much so that we can miss what’s right in front of us. This episode is not about me knowing something that other people do not. It is about me working through something that I know so many other people are also working through. I felt called to share and I hope that it resonates with you in some way, and that it helps to shift your perspective on presence.

May you fall in love with where you are now, and see the beauty of today.

    - Lexie

  • In Episode 19, we welcomed Lexie’s long-time friend, Dr. Bailie Cronin, to talk all about plant medicine, microdosing, and the psychedelic renaissance, and how these modalities are becoming increasingly popular tools for the healing process.

Bailie is a doctorally prepared board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and owner of Peak Interactive Wellness in Denver, Colo. She quickly grew her practice - while also becoming a new mother - from one to 15 people in just a few years.

Bailie’s specialty is ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and esketamine for depression and anxiety, which she provides at her practice. She also specializes in perinatal mental health, functional medicine, and pediatric/young adult mental health.

This episode was so informative and fascinating, and we were actually surprised by all of the parallels between Bailie’s experience and research, and topics from previous podcast guests!

  • In Episode 18, we sat down with Dr. Carly Monson, a licensed Naturopathic Physician. Dr. Monson is a highly trained specialist in women’s health, hormone balance, natural fertility, environmental toxins, and gastrointestinal health. She is also a certified mold literate practitioner and an expert in detox.

Dr. Monson has worked with Lexie since late 2020 on her postpartum health, mood, hormone balance, and more. Lexie swears by naturopathic doctors, as they have always been the ones to uncover her health concerns and bring to light a natural solution.

In the episode, we chat about the importance of listening to your intuition when it comes to your health. How you are your best advocate and that when you think something is wrong, it’s best to push until you get an answer.

We also discussed Dr. Monson’s journey into finding naturopathic medicine, why she calls herself the “Hormone Queen”, and so much more about this practice and healing.

If you are local to Arizona, you can find Dr. Monson at Vitality Wellness Clinic in Chandler, where she provides complimentary 15 minute consultations for those interested in establishing care as a patient. • In previous episodes, you may have heard Lexie mention her quantum sessions with Alyssa Donato. In Episode 17, we were so excited to have the opportunity to welcome Alyssa as a guest on the podcast.

Alyssa is a grounded soul whose purpose spans greater than the physical world. She works with individuals helping them to tap into their innate wisdom and highest timelines through practices like astrogeography, human design, breathwork, guided meditations, tea ceremony, plant and flower medicine, and so much more.

Our conversation in this episode circled very much around the idea of rebirthing - what does it mean, when can it happen in our lives, how can we be guided through it, and more. We even dove into the idea that your body and brain can remember the womb and birth, that our children are very much imprinted on by their birth experience, and even how generations of birth experiences can show up in our birth stories as mothers today.

You can find Alyssa and details about her quantum sessions and Astrogeography course on Instagram @Alyssa.Donato.

  • In Episode 16, we jump right into “The Clairs” - what they are, how to recognize them, and how to use them to strengthen your intuitive abilities.

Maybe you’ve heard of clairvoyance, and in your mind you automatically jump to someone like a psychic or medium. Did you know, though, that everyone has these abilities? You may be clairvoyant, claircognizant, clairaudient, or clairsentient. In the episode, we uncover what each of these clairs entails, and how they can help you.

On the journey toward becoming more in tune with what you need, and stepping out of fear and into action and manifestation - understanding your intuitive abilities is key!

  • Did you know that our first two episodes were not the ones we actually recorded? If you’ve been following along since the beginning, you’ve probably heard us allude to the fact that starting a podcast is hard work, and that we had a few kinks to work out in the beginning.

When we hit record and started chatting about what was relevant in our lives at the moment, like sick kids and busy schedules, we didn’t expect the conversation to flow into an entirely unrelated topic like breastfeeding!

Needless to say, it wasn’t what we intended to discuss on our first recorded chat. However, the conversation was still strong enough to be an episode! So, here it is, our actual first episode!

Listen in for a chat between two moms about topics that any mom can probably relate to!

If you feel like you would be a fitting guest for our podcast, please reach out to us at soul-starter.com/contact. We’d love to hear from you!

  • In Episode 13, Lexie and Jessica were joined by Jess Hedgepeth, a Maternal Mental Health Counselor. This conversation was so aligned with what we desire to share on this podcast - it was raw, emotional, and inspiring.

Jess shared her story of struggling with postpartum mental health, and how it altered the course of her life - taking her on the path toward becoming a healer, and helping moms who were on a similar journey.

What Jess is doing is a beautiful gift to the world. She’s created many accessible avenues for moms to find community and support, improve their overall wellbeing, and even be outside in the process.

You can connect with Jess on Instagram @wildwomenwell. If you’d like to work with her, mention Soul-Starter, The Podcast and receive $50 off your first session.

  • In Episode 12, Lexie and Jessica share their thoughts about the multitude of profile and personality quizzes and modalities available for the self-discovery journey.

In their honest opinions, they believe that every option is a different path that ultimately leads back to the same place; home - who we were born to be. There is no one path that is better than the other, more beneficial, right or wrong. It is just about choosing the path that fits your lifestyle... The one that resonates most with you.

Knowing who you are, and learning where you have been conditioned and where you can let go is such a powerful resource on the path toward living in alignment with your purpose. And, once the understanding and self awareness is there, they have found that it’s so much easier to show up as a better business owner, mother, partner, friend, etc.

Listen in and please share your feedback! We want to hear from you over on Instagram @SoulStarterCo as well - what kind of episodes are you hoping to see in the coming months?
