Weâre in need of online etiquette coaching, and quickly. We grew up being taught that if you canât saying anything nice then you shouldnât say anything at all, but that doesnât seem to fly on the internet anymore. Our name for it is drive-by trolling: some stranger rolls into your comment section, says something so incredibly rude (that theyâd never say to your face), and then gets mad if you try to defend yourself. And of course, they face no consequences for their asshole behavior. Weâre sure itâs just a way for them to feel significant or important in some way, but weâre sick of being kicked around by some stranger on the internet that doesnât have the confidence to share their own lives online. Maybe itâs time for some internet hall-monitors?

We may have worked through our dieting obsessions and pushing our bodies to extremes, but that doesnât mean everyone else has. Every now and then we see another person, stuck in the same cycle of food and body obsession that we were on in our younger years, and we canât help but feel sad for them. Everyone has the right to the full life experience they desire, but seeing someone trapped in a mindset that hurt us for so long is difficult to watch. Thatâs why itâs so important to stay mindful of the ways we think of and talk about ourselvesâafter years, weâve made peace with our bodies, and weâd like to keep it that way.

Weâve all heard some 20-year-old trainer say that âage is just a numberâ when it comes to our training, but the truth is that fitness in our 40âs and beyond is different than what we used to do! Our bodies, hormones, and metabolisms are changing and that means we have to change our workout methods if we want to stay healthy and fit as we age. We know just how important it is to put on muscle, so today weâre chatting with Rachel Cosgrove about her new book, Age Strong, and why talking about womenâs fitness after 40 matters so much. We want to look and feel good for as long as we can, and it starts with adapting our workouts to what works best at every age.

Is it just us, or is the internet boring as fuck lately? And yet even though weâre bored to tears, we canât stop cycling through the same apps over and over again. Weâre addicted to it and yet weâre just so bored. Everyone posts the same content over and over, where the only point is to get attention and make people angry, rather than doing anything interesting. It could just be that weâre just pessimists, but it feels like the algorithm has rotted our brains. It might be time to start some social-media detoxes, and while weâre at it, maybe start reading again?
How can you be sick of something youâre addicted to? [1:17]

Thereâs so much chatter about âauthenticityâ and âjust being yourselfâ online these days that itâs kinda starting to lose meaning. Of course you should be yourself online, but often people mistake being âauthenticâ with being vulnerable. Some people like to share everything about themselves with their followers, some people donât! Weâve also seen a lot of people conflate being authentic with just being an asshole. At the end of the day, itâs important to stay true to who YOU are in every moment, and what YOU want to share, rather than what some rando on the internet tells you is ârealâ authenticity.
What the hell does âauthenticityâ even mean? [0:55]
Authenticity and vulnerability are not the same [2:15]
Dramatics get more attention [4:47]

Maybe youâve heard already, but prominent podcaster Andrew Huberman, was recently exposed for having relationships with 6 different women at once. And while thereâs nothing technically âillegalâ about what heâs done, itâs a really shitty move done by someone who claims to have high integrity, and it rubs us the wrong way. Weâre not big believers in the concept that how you do one thing is how you do everything, but how are we supposed to respect a man that has shown he doesnât really respect the women in his life? No one is perfect, but when youâre a public figure, the way you act has a big impact on how your work is perceived, and this is one mistake we canât really look past.
Is how you do one thing is how you do everything? [6:50]
Not everyone is what they seem [11:00]

Bad behavior has consequences, no matter who you are [18:15]

Weâre not at young as we once were, and as much as we hate to admit it, our bodies are changing. That means making peace with the fact that the way we once worked out no longer works for us, and figuring out new ways to stay fit. Itâs hard af to let go of the ways things used to be, but staying the same forever can do more harm than good. Nowadays we prioritize managing our physical + emotional stress, putting on muscle, and letting the small things add up. Just because working out looks different now doesnât mean what weâre doing is worse.

Weâve been on a sober-curious kick lately, so who better to talk to than someone whoâs built a community for sober women and has been sober herself for 11 years and counting? Today, Danny interviews Courtney Andersen, founder of Sober Vibes, about her journey to sobriety and the challenges and joys of living an alcohol-free life. We discuss the decision to quit drinking, finding fun without alcohol, the cultural shift towards sobriety, and how to navigate social outings without alcohol. We also talk about re-defining relapse and a shame-free approach to sobriety. Life is hard enough, with or without drinking, and weâre all better for having these conversations openly and compassionately.

Instagram is rolling out a new feature that defaults to keeping news and political content off of our feeds, and it got us thinking, is it irresponsible to ignore current events? Unfortunately, many news sources are produced with biases, headlines are manufactured to outrage rather than inform, and falsified information is getting harder and harder to differentiate from whatâs âreal.â And not only that, but after years of getting everything from social media algorithms, weâre all primed to see and hear things we already agree with. Maybe itâs just us, but the ânewsâ doesnât feel like the news anymore. Is it just us?

Whenever we face problems in our lives, we tend to crave complicated solutions over easy ones. Somehow we think complexity is more likely to give us a resultâunfortunately, while simple is boring, itâs also effective. No one wants to hear that the solution to losing weight is eating less. Instead we look to fad diets or new workout techniques, and it takes us even longer to reach our goals. Weâre so caught up in optimizing everything that we forget to perfect the basics. Is there anything in your life youâre over-complicating?

Maybe itâs just us, but thereâs some weird loneliness that seems to come with getting older. Weâve been holding it down for our loved ones for so long, and weâre caretakers by nature, but maybe itâs time to ask whoâs taking care of us? Our responsibilities are more than ever, but now our support networks are spread out and we donât want to burden anyone. Whatâs left is us, feeling alone, and starting to feel resentful of our lives. We know it isnât forever, but sometimes that loneliness hits us, and we just needed to talk about it. If youâre out there feeling lonely too, youâre not in this by yourself. Itâs 2024, are we still judging people for taking selfies? Sometimes we like the way we look and want to share it, whatâs so wrong with that? There are so many times we wish weâd gotten over ourselves and taken photos to remember specific moments in our lives, but now those times are past and weâll never get those memories back. And hey, thereâs nothing wrong with taking a picture just because youâre feeling hot, too. When you have an audience of any kind, a decision must be madeâdo you keep yourself relatable and friendly to all, or do you out your own self on a pedestal to keep people coming back for more? For the former, some might argue that this leaves you âtooâ relatable, and at risk of your audience losing respect for you. On the other hand, the latter might leave you seeming stiff, unapproachable, and with a superiority complex. Danny and Jill ponder this dichotomy and wonder what the best path is for handling the influencer-consumer relationship. (This episode is a re-run. Originally published in 2019.)

For holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries, do gifts matter? Or is it only the thought that counts? Maybe a mixture of the two? We arenât saying that the only way to make us feel loved is by buying us gifts, but there are some presents that are a little more insulting to receive than if you had gotten nothing at all. We all want to be loved in different ways, so before you go buy towels for your partner for Valentineâs Day, make sure itâs something theyâd love.
