Nate Holly is my guest on this episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace. A short, twenty-second video that came across my feed caught my attention. It turns out the clip was of their first ever show a couple of months ago. I needed to know the story behind this band and the heavily tattooed man singing with a buck knife on his hip. So, I reached out. Vile Mind is just a few months old, and they've been making noise in the Huntington, West Virginia area, and due to that video clip, a lot of people are aware of them now. Nate couldn't have been a nicer, more gracious guy. A tattoo artist at Prestige Tattoo & Piercing, a father as well as a man with over a dozen years of sobriety under his belt. He helped create the Huntington Music Collective, which is a grassroots, DIY movement that brings hardcore shows to the area. An area that has been decimated by drugs over the years, he has created a positive space for kids and adults alike to come and hang out without drugs or alcohol. I'm glad I reached out to him. I'm sure he'll be back on with another member of Vile Mind once their first EP drops next month. The utmost respect to him and what he is doing in Huntington, West Virginia.

I have no idea why he hasn't been on the show several years ago, at least a couple of times. This was way overdue. My guest is my boy Anthony Russo, Jr. He is the singer for New York Hardcore band, A Breed Apart.
We go on and on about hardcore, how social media ruined a lot of shit, the days from when I was booking shows at Lucky 13 Saloon and a ton of other banter. We probably could've babbled on for another couple of hours easily.
One thing is for sure, there's not many of us left. So, sit back and listen to how neither of us has a Brooklyn accent whatsoever.

My guest is a man I've known now for close to a decade. I'm surprised he hasn't been on earlier. He's played in Leeway NYC/The Eddie Leeway Show, Hard Response, The Casting Out, Comin' Correct and besides being a solo artist and collaborating with Keith Caputo, he has a new band called Ritualized.
We are all over the place in this rather long episode. From hardcore to road trips to movies and guilty pleasure songs, we run through a lot! Sit back and enjoy. This was a lot of fun to do. Respect.

My guest this time around is the guitarist for Fire Is Murder and Damn Your Eyes. He also played with Eddie Sutton in the last few years of Leeway NYC. Ladies and gentlemen... Artie Alexander.
He's an incredible musician and an all-around good guy. We discuss the aforementioned bands, we talk a little about Eddie, along with the tribute show that I had put together in his honor. Artie played a huge part in that event. We bullshit about how none of the things that we currently do would be possible without being sober. Artie should've been on the podcast much earlier, better late than never. I'm sure he'll be back again. Enjoy.

My guest is a writer, director, producer, and musician. His new movie, "Director's Cut," is now up on all streaming platforms. Ladies and gentlemen, Don Capria. Owner and founder of OneTenCrew films and 110 Artist Management.
We talk about his awesome new film and the horror genre as well as his book, Colombo Book. He played drums in Blindside and Skarhead, and we delved into a discussion about hardcore.
Being a huge fan of everything horror, serial killer, and mafia related topics, this was a lot of fun to do. Go check out "Director's Cut" now. The cast is great, and Louis Lombardi kills it. Respect.

My guest on this episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast is the former drummer of legendary Long Island Hardcore band, Disciplinary Action! Jeff Lanzetta and I take it back to the late 80s and into the 90s, discussing the band, the LIHC scene back then, and reminiscing about hardcore in general. This was a long time coming. Enjoy.

*Disclaimer*
This is a long one!
Strap in, kids. You have been warned.— in Forest Hills.
Lenny Bednarz and I sat down for a marathon conversation... we touch on everything from growing up in old New York City to his bands, Without A Cause,
Fahrenheit 451 NYHC,
District9 BXHC, his short-lived stint in the pop-punk band,
Well, excuse me, Princess into
Crazy Eddie NYHC. We touched on the part he played in Grand Theft Auto IV: Liberty City. We go back into old New York City to movies, then back to bands, then start discussing our mutual love for cemeteries. Mixed within all of these are random side conversations about how the soul and feel of NYC has either changed or is gone altogether. And of course we mention how our friends parents had the right to slap us and that there was always that one kid that wouldn't tell anybody that he went home and stayed in while playing manhunt, jackin' up the entire game. This was awesome to do, and I'm sure we'll wind up doing another episode. We could've gone for another couple of hours easily.

Scott Vogel is back after about five years since he was last on the podcast. We has an informal conversation about touring, how much he appreciates he quiet downtime after playing over 200 shows on average per year. We touch on how he very rarely drinks and parties anymore and the positive affects it has had on him personally as well as Terror as a whole. His move back to Buffalo from Los Angeles, and we discuss our mutual love for Leeway and a bunch of other random topics. Always cool to shoot the shit with Vogel.

My guest is a legendary figure in the hardcore scene. With a resume that spans forty years. He's played in bands such as Blind Approach, Agnostic Front, Madball, The Eulogy, and currently H2O. Ladies and gentlemen, Matt Henderson. We run through his entire history from growing up in St. Paul, Minnesota, and the formation of Blind Approach to playing CBGB's and planting the seeds to lifelong friendships with future members of some of the bands he wound up playing in. He then decided to move to Boston to go to school from Minnesota and, with the friendships made in the past, opened the doors to joining Agnostic Front. From there, the rest is history. Sit back and enjoy this history lesson. Respect.

I finally had the chance to sit down with my friend, Danielle Dombrowski. She's been photographing hardcore and metal shows since the mid-90s, owns a successful hair salon, and also does wedding photography. We discuss what made her step into the hardcore scene, where she grew up, and some of the earliest shows she shot. With hundreds of shows under her belt and thousands of photos to show for it, her craft is second to none. This was a cool, laid-back conversation. I hope you enjoy.

This was a very long time coming.
My guest on this episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast is one of The Godfathers of Hardcore... singer for Agnostic Front, The Alligators, The Disasters, former bass player for The Psychos and Madball... author of "My Riot: Agnostic Front, Grit, Guts & Glory" and his new book, "WITH TIME: The Roger Miret Archives"... ladies and gentlemen, one of the greatest to ever do it... my friend, Roger Miret!
We had a cool, laid-back conversation about everything from his books, holding onto memories, how hardcore and the culture is so important to us, and many other people on a personal level. I decided to pick his brain about one of my all-time favorite AF records, "Liberty & Justice For...", what's going on with The Alligators and what's next up for Agnostic Front.
I'm grateful for the time he put aside for me. Especially since he rarely does podcasts as well as taking time away from his family to talk to me for a little while.
Nothing but the utmost respect.

A brand new episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast has dropped.
Smash this:
https://linktr.ee/thebrooklynblastfurnace
My guest this time around is Lil Dee " Danny James. Ridiculously talented, born and raised and representing Coney Island.
He wrote his first rhyme at ten years old. He was killing cyphers at twelve and hasn't stopped since. With his 20th birthday fresh behind him, he isn't even close to stopping. In my opinion, he was pulled right out of the golden era and placed here. A lyricist with clever word play, punchlines, and touches on relatable topics.
Something a little different for everyone. Check him out and support this kid. He has crazy work ethic and is constantly grinding. Respect.

Cold As Life, H8 Inc., Blunt Force Trauma and touch on some of his earlier bands like Ricochet and Rockhead. He explains how he wound up down in Texas, as well as a little about original Cold As Life singer, Rawn Beauty (RIP). I hope you enjoy this one.

When I say Bayway... you say...
Motherfuckers, my guest on this episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is JayWay. Singer for Bayway, 25 Ta Life and guitarist for Shattered Realm. He also has a rap project out under the name JayWay 908.
Bayway has quickly caught on with the hardcore scene, and I'm all in as well. I met Jay only a couple months ago in person out on Long Island at a show. We started to bullshit for a few minutes and asked him if he'd be down to come on. We go into that certain moment that we all have that was our turning point headed into the hardcore scene. A couple of his former bands, and eventually the birth of Bayway. He is also the new singer for the legendary 25 Ta Life, so of course, I had to ask how that all came about. A super humble guy who loves and appreciates every aspect of making music and playing liv. He'll be back on the podcast, I'm sure. I hope you all enjoy this. Respect.

This was one episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast that I honestly never thought would happen. My guest this time around is one of the founding members and legendary guitarist of Biohazard, Bobby Hambel, aka Bobby The Handball.
Bobby hardly ever does interviews or podcasts, so for him to take the time out to sit with me for an hour and a half was ridiculously cool of him.
We go way back to even before the formation of the band when he had a project called "Rattlehead". We then go to meeting Anthony Meo (RIP) then Evan Billy and Danny Shuler. We touch on the early days of touring, the first record, and 32 years of Urban Discipline. From the very beginning until now, a new record being recorded and paying tribute to several friends that have passed throughout the years.
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did doing it. Much Respect.

My guest on the podcast is someone I've been wanting to speak with for a long time. singer for Detroit hardcore bands, H8 Inc. Ladies and gentlemen, BEAST!
Finding a record harder than any of their three records would be rough to do. We go into the very beginning of the band, the three records, and what is happening with them now. of course, we had to mention our friend Ratbones because of his notorious reputation in Detroit back in the day.
beast couldn't have been a nicer guy. I hope you all enjoy this one.
Rest in Peace, Darrel Maniac!

Back with another episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace. This time around, I have my friend, Mike Valente on. Founding member and guitarist for Brick By Brick. He also founded the Extreme Music Awards, which will hold its 2nd annual award show on January 10th, 2025, at Empire Live in Albany, New York. We talk some Brick By Brick history and their upcoming EP, which will be released by Upstate Records. How he got the idea and created the Extreme Music Awards, and he delves into the decade-long pseudo-feud with Chris Jericho from Fozzy. Mike is a great guy, and I always enjoy seeing him and shooting the shit. This episode is hilarious. Much Respect. Enjoy.

After a couple month hiatus, a new episode of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace is available now.
I spoke to my guest at the Nighthawk Cinema at the Vinnie Stigma book release party and set this up. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you... SKAM DUST. He came to Bay Ridge from the Lower East Side to talk shit in my living room. We talk about his recent, thirty day tour in Mexico, his upcoming tour in Chile, and his new record that should be out in the coming months. We're all over the place on this one, which is what I expected. We speak on how he always seems to find himself in random places and unique situations to say the least. SKAM rules!
