  • Darren G. Candow, Ph.D., CSEP-CEP, is Professor and Director of the Aging Muscle and Bone Health Laboratory in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies at the University of Regina, Canada. Dr. Candow has published over 125 peer-refereed journal manuscripts (h-index: 43, i10-index: 89), supervised over 20 MSc and PhD students and received research funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Canada Foundation for Innovation, the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation, National Institutes of Health, and the Nutricia Research Foundation. In addition, Dr. Candow serves on the editorial review boards for the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, Nutrients, Frontiers, Advanced Exercise and Health Sciences and as a Scientific Advisor for AlzChem.

  • Dr. Donald Layman is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Food Science & Human Nutrition at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Layman served on the faculty at the University of Illinois from 1977 – 2012. Dr. Layman has been a leader in research about protein, nutrition for athletic performance, obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular health. Dr. Layman has over 100 peer-reviewed publications. He has received numerous awards for his research from the American Society for Nutrition and the National Institutes for Health and for his nutrition teaching. Dr. Layman served as Associate Editor of The Journal of Nutrition and the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior and on the editorial boards of Nutrition & Metabolism and Nutrition Research and Practice. Dr. Layman earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemistry and biochemistry at Illinois State University and his doctorate in human nutrition and biochemistry at the University of Minnesota.

  • Cholsoon Jang, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Biological Chemistry at the University of California Irvine School of Medicine.   • Kevin A. Murach, Ph.D., completed a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, then earned his Ph.D. in Human Bioenergetics from the Ball State Human Performance Laboratory in Muncie, Indiana. After Ball State, Dr. Murach spent six years as a post-doctoral fellow/scholar studying muscle stem cells at the University of Kentucky Center for Muscle Biology in Lexington under the guidance of Drs. Charlotte Peterson and John McCarthy. He now is an Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas. His current research uses human muscle samples, primary cell culture and genetically modified mouse models to understand the molecular cues that drive exercise adaptations and aging, and the interaction between the two.

  • Dr. Carr is a Professor of Geriatric Medicine in the Department of Medicine and Neurology at Washington University at St. Louis. Dr. Carr is a clinician in the Memory Diagnostic Center and Geriatric Assessment Clinic at WU where he maintains an outpatient consulting practice in dementia and geriatric care. He is involved in Alzheimer’s Disease drug trials and was the site PI in the GRADUATE trial and the Green Memory Trial in the WU Alzheimer’s Treatment Unit. He has been and/or currently is a principal investigator or co-investigator on research, national guidelines, and/or educational initiatives related to Alzheimer's and/or medical conditions and driving with funding through NIA, NEI, and Missouri Department of Transportation. He also has been active in consulting work with NHTSA, TIRF, University of Toronto, Medscape, UpToDate and the American Geriatric Society. He has been the primary author or co-author on over 100 peer review manuscripts and chapters, most related to older drivers.
