In Chapter 7 of Sense and Sensibility, the Dashwoods have dinner with the Middletons, who always play the hosts, but definitely aren't the life of the party. The ladies meet the Middletons' visitors, an old lady and a middle aged man. Marianne piano playing earns attention from an unlikely source.
