  • In this weeks episode of The Female Fitness Podcast I have the pleasure of being joined by Amy Wilson who is an online coach and nutritionist, and prior figure competitor!

    We talk all about Amy’s journey through competing in bodybuilding and transition away from the sport. We discuss the health consequences she personally experienced such as amenorrhea, and how she went about restoring menstrual cycle function after moving away from pushing her body to the extreme. For her this involved going ‘all in’ and engaging in more restorative forms of exercise.

    We also discuss whether moving away from competing had an impact on her business and/or coaching abilities, where she’s at now, and what her life looks like both personally and professionally.

  • In today’s episode of The Female Fitness Podcast I have the pleasure of being joined by Gareth Buchan who is an accountancy firm owner and gym owner with an online coaching background!

    His accountancy firm, coach accounts, specialises in working with fitness professionals and the specific challenge they often face.

    This podcast was packed full of value, and I wish I had listened to it when I was in my early days of coaching. It would have enhanced my success, put my mind at ease, and reduced my stress levels ten fold if I had known this information and invested in an accountant earlier than what I did!

    We talk about the differences between being a sole trader & limited company, what we should and shouldn’t be claiming as expenses, how we should be paying ourselves, improving our credit rating and likelihood of getting a mortgage, pensions, VAT, payment providers, and SO much more!

  • In today's episode of The Female Fitness Podcast I have the absolute pleasure of being joined by Bekka Leahy Hartnett to talk all things binge eating and how we might approach tackling it and the struggles that often present themselves alongside binge eating!

    Bekka is a disordered eating nutritionist working as part of the ETPHD coaching team. She is a counselling & psychotherapy trainee and someone who has also struggled with her relationship with food herself in the past.

    We discuss:
    - What binge eating is and how it differs from over eating

    - Why it's important to distinguish the difference between the two

    - If someone does experience a binge, when does it become a clinical binge eating disorder?

    - What are the 4 stages of a binge and why is it helpful to identify them?

    - Why is it problematic for coaches to advertise their services as being able to tackle relationship with food issues such as binge eating but attaching a body composition related result to that?

    - Would it ever be appropriate to use a meal plan approach to tackle binge eating?

    - Why is it that tools like tracking can be problematic for some individuals but helpful for others?

    - Should you ever be pursuing fat loss whilst simultaneously working to tackle binge eating?

    - What are some of the common causes of binge eating?

    - Why is it relatively common for bodybuilding competitors to struggle with binge eating post contest prep?

    - Do you think it’s helpful for those who are really struggling with their relationship with food to regularly be on social media?

    - If someone is currently struggling, what would your advice be to them on the first steps they should take to help them improve their relationship with food?
