  • We preview the “grand final” between Pakistan and Australia, where events in Lahore promise to override anything that’s happened before (I think maybe Khawaja scored runs and he was born in Pakistan?). The women’s team continue to dominate but where’s the loss they “have to have”? West Indies and England play out a bore draw, but Kraigg Brathwaite’s Mum was there - confirming that Mum Stuff trumps Dad Stuff. Zorba returns to the show for a lengthy chat, maybe 18% of which is about on-field cricket. #AskTGC is about cherry intimidation and Will’s sequel to Tall, Thicc and Dad Dick.

  • Karachi was a classic rear-guard but many are still singing “Fucking flat-flat-flat” to the tune and cadence of Baby Shark (and that’s our problem), Babar’s no longer the tallest dwarf, Rizwan’s face is a yes from me, Happy enough with Australia, the SMH’s Tom Decent joins from Karachi, India brushes past Sri Lanka, Australia’s cruising at the Women’s World Cup, Beth Mooney joins, there’s more Root runs, Ollie Pope shouldn’t hide his nipples, Aaron Finch joins, and #AskTGC is about cosplaying grade cricket tubbing culture.

  • We compiled your voice tributes to Warnie, it's there at the end of the show. Before then, Australia v Pakistan, India v Sri Lanka, Women's World Cup, West Indies v England, and other stuff that pales in comparison to the Warnie news.
We also caught up with CEO of the ACA, Todd Greenberg, who was in Islamabad at the time of recording. His grade pedigree has shaped him well for the challenges of sports administration. The WiFi wasn't great, hopefully you can bear with it.

  • We got together for 30 minutes to remember Warnie, and to attempt some raw thoughts on how much he meant to us. It’s all still a bit surreal, but the urge was there, so we got in there.
Thank you to everyone who submitted their own thoughts via social and via voice. There were literally many hundreds, we were blown away. We will comprehensively reflect these in an upcoming show, soon.
    Thanks,Pez and Higgos

  • A massive show to catch up on everything. We’ve got the “Every! Week!” guy Mankading to victory, JL’s departure, Aus v SL, Anderson and Broad, the Women’s team doing the business, NZ v SA, India’s new skipper, Wriddi Saha, the IPL mega auction, James Faulkner, the Pakistan series, Waqar Younis, Travis Head, Alex Blackwell, and #AskTGC looks at Dion Nash and adults v children.

  • 187. Season Finale, with Shane Watson and Chris Rogers
“Every week! Every week!” As we wind down the summer (there’s more cricket than ever) we start by exploring this profound quote in light of some more dark club cricket shit, followed by the lightness of Australia’s lead over England in the Women’s Ashes. Alyssa Healy gets the Women’s World Cup on TV, CA says no to Smith, Smith says yes to NFTs, South Africa sweeps India, and England posts the most one-sided one run win against the Windies. Shane Watson is on Zoom and Chris Rogers is in the studio, before we finish it off with AskTGCs about trappings and tubbing at an indoor centre. Thanks for the Australian summer, we’ll be back in 3-4 weeks.

  • The men's Ashes is over and we're all a bit sad, angry, pissed off, drunk and other visceral emotions. Cam Green's tall isn't he? Phil Walker dials in from The UK to give us some very visceral and poetic minutes. Kohli steps down as captain after not being reprimanded. The Big Bash is a domestic T20 League in Australia. The Under 19 World Cup is on and Higgos is living out his dream of batting 3 for Australia. Simon Katich is on to discuss playing with Usman at Randwick-Petersham and the future of coaching. #AskTGC asks what the point of any of this is.

  • Higgos and Pez have COVID. Was it worth it? Probably. The fallout from the MCG continues and there are still 2 Tests to go. Should Joe Root be captain? Does it matter? Will Scott Boland ever play again? Probably yes. Will Swepson play? Probably yes. Will the SCG spin? When was cricket good? Quinton de Kock has retired from Tests, so will this mean the end of civilised society? Hey, Devon Conway scored some more runs. He's good.

  • Australia romp to a demon-arousing win at the Gabba and all of the nation’s sensory needs are met. We cover it all (selectively) in 40 minutes of visceral catharsis, which is then followed by the Visceral Minute.
Copes then joins in, adding intelligence and knowledge, before our most in-depth analysis of the BBL, aka Blobby Season, to date.
#AskTGC traverses first-borns, rhyming slang, and sad, wistful English people. Thanks (as ever) to everyone.

  • The harsh blue (grey) hue of the Brisbane sky, blazing sun, golden sponsors and Cameron Green’s size means we’ve finally arrived at The Ashes. Pez and Higgos reject a cold, clinical look at form and instead go big on things like feeling, vibe, narrative, stereotype and jingoism – for the optimal way to enjoy the Ashes is to couch it in colonial, cultural terms, rather than anything vaguely objective or fact-based.
As a result, we conclude Australia will cruise: despite not having won a Test series for a very long time, leadership in general tumult, and Smith changing his grip. The Visceral Minute returns and reflect this general approach to things “on both sides”, to invoke D Trump (who played 3s for Manhattan). We speak with Ollie Pope – who played Sydney Test Cricket with some distinction – and afterwards decide that we want him to play, because we are now known to him and want to lamely attach ourselves to his success like the weak little cucks we are.
Mt Foxmore’s Shane Warne sledges Mitch Starc again, Langer visits Paine, and Cummins is an astronaut. Meanwhile Ajaz Patel takes 10fer and we ask: what grade would he play here? The Sixers also beat a team with Zampa, Maxwell “and some clubbies”, because if you lose a BBL fixture it follows that you are carrying clubbies.
We pay tribute to Rob Aitken for his feat of 500 first grade games, a first-class player if there ever was one.
We include a special chat with CEO of Budgy Smugger, Adam Linforth, on building a proud Australian company and tubbing with the NSW Cricket Team.
#AskTGC is an overwritten lecture from the pulpit about the harsh realities of life as a millionaire sportsperson. We agree with the general premise.

  • England is alchemy. Australia is cobbled. But the hue of the Gabba and sponsored gold trimmings trumps all. India now needs maths and Satan. Pakistan is wild and good. New Zealand demands respect but it will never be given (publicly).
We run through the WBBL. Couple of guys did some things in the Shield, too. Maybe they’ll make the soon-to-be-announced Australia 2’s team to take on the Lions (England 2’s).
We chat with Will Macpherson and Tim Bresnan, in their own separate ways, about England being good.
The Visceral Minute receives strong contributions. Get yours in at speakpipe.com/tgc – any form of redeeming humour is appreciated.
We nod to Ashley Mallett, Alan Davidson and Peter Philpott.
We fumble around the Quentin De Kock farrago. Bit going on. Worth reflecting upon.
The IPL Mega Auction happens soon. Bit of coin around. Will CA eventually take private equity? Whispers, tea leaves, between-the-lines stuff happening here.
AskTGC meditates on what *really* makes a good day playing cricket. The answer is a dog sleeping at gully.
