Merry Christmas cheer and a New Years good times one and all from us over that the Holding Hands Podcast!
This Christmas tinsel time episode features Breaka, Guava & Desert Sound Colony chatting some absolute golden breeze about our favourite tunes of the year, Jeff Bezos' massive guns, conspiracy theories, favourite plugin of the year, original thought and loads of other sweet stuff.
Big thanks to everyone who has enjoyed listening to the podcast this year! It's been so wonderful seeing how much people have dug it and we really appreciate the lovely messages that some of you sent us. What a warm fuzzy glow we now have inside of us.
We will be back with another season next year. Fingers crossed the world will have sorted itself out a bit by then.
Big love

Tuck yourselves in everyone because lovely Martyn has turned up for pod number 13. It's a bit of a wide ranging one with discussions on the origins of our creative processes, how important is originality and do we attribute meaning to the music that we write. Thanks very much to Martyn for coming on our little pod and to Guava for setting it up and editing it. Hugs all round.

In this episode, Guava is joined by Raj Chaudhuri and Lucy Hopson. Raj is a DJ, NTS resident, A&R for R&S Records, and a founding member of bubble collective and Livin’ Proof. Lucy, aka LUXE, is one of the most exciting, up-and-coming talents the North has to offer. As a classically trained musician, she has carved her career as a producer, radio DJ, and co-runs Manchester-based collective BLOOM.
We sit down together and have a chat about conceptions about dance music, dodgy jazz musician and our favourite YouTube tutorials.

We discuss the ins and outs of the record shop, the wonderful vibe of the Bristol community and it's relation to Idle Hands. We also share our thoughts on the pros and cons of using a record distribution company to get your records into shops.
It was a very enjoyable afternoon spent chatting and I want to thank Jen and Chris for their time and insights!

Heya folks,
In this episode of the pod I am talking to a couple of legends, Angelica Golten who runs her own music PR company and Lou Ellis who does in the in house PR for classic drum and bass label Hospital Records.
We discuss all things music PR related to help you make an informed decision when considering paying for a company to help get your music out there. This is essential listening for new labels and solo artists who want to know more about music promotion.

In this episode of the pod I am joined by a couple of real life legends Bradley Zero who runs Rhythm Section and Sandy who runs Dr. Banana and DJs under the same name. I know a lot of people feel in the dark when it comes to not only the best practise for sending demos out to labels but also the state of mind of the label owners who receive them and hopefully listen.
I spent years sending demos out to labels and never really knowing the best way to ensure that my music was listened to. It was very frustrating at points and I’m sure many of you have had similar experiences.
In this pod we delved deep and hopefully answered most of your questions you might have on this topic.

In this episode of the podcast Guava was joined by two of the founders of the amazing London club night Co-Select in which every set is a b2b with one woman and one man.
I (Desert Sound Colony) played at Co-Select last year with my friend Iona and it was such a killer vibe! That crew are onto something great over there and I'm delighted to have them on the pod.
They discussed the reason that they started the night, how it's been in practise and then Will and Bradley answered some of Emmy's questions about production.
Finally they played a good old fashioned HH podcast music game.
Fun times all round!

Heya folks,
I hope you are all getting along ok during the lockdown and Zooming your brains out on a nightly basis.
It's been a bit of a break since the last pod as my wife and I had our daughter Margot in January and so have been busy getting to know her.
I'm planning on getting a bunch more of these done in over the coming months and they should be more regular I hope.
I was joined in this episode by two comedians moonlighting as producers & DJs, Alec Falconer & Harry Wills. We run the party soon to be label Sock It To Me with Dr. Banana and have also collaborated on a bunch of tracks together.
We discussed Alec's constant house party that he is now living in, Harry's attempt to play Grand Theft Auto as a do-gooder, the much asked question of how do you finish a track? and we also played a lovely little game at the end of the pod.
Hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it :D

Yooooooo,
Welcome back after our holiday hiatus. It's been a lovely little break but we are happy to be getting back to it over at the podcast and bring you all some tasty informational music production & DJ nuggets.
For episode four Guava is joined by Breaka and our good friend who travelled all the way down from the freezing cold north to join them, Adam Pits.
On the discussion menu that evening they found the topics of mix downs for clubs, performance anxiety and where to find inspiration for your tracks. They also attempted to write the squelchiest track of all time.
Good good times.
Big thanks to Bradley Hutchings aka Guava as ever for producing the pod. We all love you.

Here we have part 2 of episode 3 featuring Tape Fear which concludes our discussion and finishes things off with a new musical game; Random Objecty Song Makey
This whole podcast thing is new to us and we are still working out the best way to release these episodes. How far apart they should be and also how long we should cut them down to. If you have any thoughts on the matter then do please let us know in the comments.
Thanks again to Bradley Hutchings for the wonderful work on producing the podcast and to his Grandma for letting us record in her flat. What a legend!

For episode 3 Desert Sound Colony was joined by the duo Tape Fear to discuss collaboration in the studio. The conversation was relatively silly for sections including renditions of Henry's school band and an anecdote from Desert Sound Colony about the time that he was cast as a beatboxing cow on a nationwide Ambrosia Custard TV advert.
We had such a good time recording this one and struggled to cut too much down so we have decided to try releasing it as a two parter with the second part going out in a couple of weeks.

We are very excited to welcome you all to the very first Holding Hands Podcast! Featuring Desert Sound Colony, Breaka and Guava.
Over this series we are going to be exploring and discussing a wide variety of topics within the world of music production, Djing and the music business in general. We will also be talking about some of our current favourite jams and playing some musical games :D There will be different guests each time, starting with artists on the label and then branching out into all strands of the musical hemisphere.
In the first episode we spoke about the pros and cons of studying electronic music production at university and how best to survive and make a living whilst you are on the journey to becoming financially stable as a musician.
We hope that firstly it makes for entertaining listening, but also that everyone can gain some insight into areas of music the life of a producer that they might be wondering about, or didn't even know that they wanted to learn about.
We've never made a podcast before and are learning as we go but we thoroughly enjoyed doing it and we hope you all enjoy coming along for the ride with us.
