You know, that choice between staying in a comfortable illusion or facing the truth, even if it's uncomfortable.
Lately, I've noticed a common thread among my coaching clients – they're being really mean to themselves in their own minds. We're talking negative self-talk, self-judgment, and all that jazz.
I want to explore these self-critical moments and invite you to choose the red pill of self-compassion.
It's not about blaming ourselves for the past, but about embracing the power of choice in how we treat ourselves.

Today, I want to share a personal story with you. Surprisingly, I found myself in a church recently, attending a mass at my son's school. Now, if you know me, you'd be surprised because I'm not a religious person. I consider myself more spiritual, with unconventional beliefs that go beyond traditional religions. It's unexpected for those close to my husband and me to know that we send our kids to Catholic schools. But there's a reason behind it, a fortunate twist of fate.
While I was raised Catholic, my family wasn't deeply involved in the church. I went through the rituals of baptism and first communion but decided not to take the sacrament of confirmation. As I grew older, my scientific mind and the negative aspects of organized religion pushed me further away from spirituality.
However, sending our kids to Catholic school has challenged my perspectives on religion and spirituality. It's been an intriguing journey that constantly pushes me to reconsider my beliefs. Sometimes, I wish I could approach it more lightly, viewing it as a mere set of practices. But that's not the path I've chosen for this lifetime.
Today, I want to share a reflection on love. Spirituality allows me to experience incredible emotions, feel connected to all beings, and appreciate the beauty of creation. In my relationship with the Catholic Church, I realized that I had thrown out the baby with the bathwater. Attending the mass with my family brought forth overwhelming love and joy. It made me realize that we often close ourselves off to the love, abundance, and beauty available to us.
Just like my experience with nature during the pandemic, where I initially felt disconnected in my urban surroundings, I learned to open my heart and embrace the nature that was already present. Similarly, I invite you to consider where you might be blocking yourself from joy, love, and abundance due to broad, high-level decisions or unquestioned beliefs.
Take a moment to reflect on your spirituality, the love available to you, the appreciation and support from those around you, the abundance within reach, and the opportunities that may be waiting for you. Can you open your heart to receive what's there for you? I sincerely hope you will.

This week has been challenging for me.
Support the show
I've been feeling off and not quite like myself. I've noticed that in the mornings, I've been feeling anxious and rushed, even when I'm not running late.
This has affected my interactions with my kids, making me more irritable and short-tempered with them. Even during lunch with my husband, I've been impatient and wanting him to finish quickly.
Negative thoughts have been more prevalent, making me approach my son more sternly, leading to arguments.
My driving, which is usually enjoyable, has become more stressful.
However, I've learned to give myself compassion, name my emotions, and acknowledge the facts to treat myself better and work through these feelings.
I know the lessons I learned will resonate with you too... come listen in.Find me on Instagram @fuertescarola.
