Episodes

  • In this episode, we talk with functional medicine practitioner and owner and founder of Truth Integrative Medicine, Kimberly Strong during the Whole Story Health Hour Radio Show.

This radio show is a passion project of mine and I wanted to make sure The Landing Spot Podcast listeners have access to the show and some of our special guests.

As we dive into our conversation, Kimberly explains the difference between general/conventional medicine and functional medicine. She also talks specifically about treating the thyroid. Often times, a compounded thyroid medication is needed while most patients are given a generic dosing of (Synthroid) which can actually make things way worse for them. She breaks this down for listeners.

There was also some interesting conversation and explanation about the overuse of testosterone replacement therapy in men and specifically women.

    Hope you enjoy the show!

Were you even aware that we had different phases that have a MASSIVE impact on everything from mood, sleep, exercise, sex drive and appetite? This week’s guest and I sure didn’t. • Have you ever stopped to think about how your childhood experiences (or trauma) combined with daily stressors impact your health and hormones? The harsh effects on your body can be managed and overcome. This episode dives into how:

Trauma has different levels and is also relative. Whether you experienced significant trauma, such as physical or sexual abuse, or things like parents' divorce, feeling unwanted, poverty, etc. it all has a significant impact on your health as an adult. Our biology stores this information while creating neural pathways that lead to automatic maladaptive coping mechanisms.

Today’s guest, Hollie Jeffery is CEO of ACE Institute, LLC - A training and Consulting Firm for adverse childhood experiences with over 20 years of experience working in Child Services. Hollie explains how stress and trauma have been shown to play a major role in decreased ovarian function, hormone imbalance, and increased risks of chronic disease and early death.

Hollie has personally struggled with PCOS, weight gain, chronic fatigue, and depression, AND even suffered a mild stroke in her early 30s due to birth control combined with stressors driving unhealthy lifestyle habits.

You’re going to learn the mechanistic effects of both trauma and stress on the body’s immune system and hormone function. Hollie is going to share with you the importance of self-care so that you can gain control of your health. She talks about the role that nutrition, exercise, and stress-management techniques have played in restoring her hormonal health and livelihood.

This is an episode you will absolutely want to tune into if you’ve struggled with unhealthy patterns and feel lost as to why. The information provided will undoubtedly empower you as well as give you insight into how you can empower other women who may feel stuck in poor health without answers.

  • Women often have home and family obligations that can make going to the gym feel selfish… or inconvenient at the very least. Yet we all know that we have to make movement a priority for our health!

In this episode, Kimberly Rammage, a physical therapist who is the essence of JOY shares why she stopped going to the gym and started working out at home to enhance her health and fitness. And upon seeing incredible results, having more peace because she was home with her kiddos versus having to plan another drop off/baby sitter for them like she did when working out at a gym, AND not missing moments to hug and kiss her growing boys as she sends them off to school, she had an OVERWHELMING desire to create a platform to help other women do the same!

Kimberly has a youtube channel where she posts FULL (FREE) workouts that will help women lean out, build muscle for longevity, all while providing safe options for women of all ages and skill levels.
