Jason Lin and Ryky Tran share a conversation about Hollywood and the unique challenges Asians need to overcome in the industry and how we can work to change things.

Ryky was born in Vietnam. Parents were refugees from Vietnam who fled when he was about 1. Raised in Boston. He dropped out of high school during his senior year to pursue an acting career in Hollywood. A year later, he completed his second project with Li, called “Cradle 2 The Grave”. After his time in Hollywood, he pursued his passion of ice short track speed skating. As an Olympic hopeful, he moved to Calgary Alberta Canada to train at the Olympic Oval. In 2005, months before the Olympic trials, he was involved in a car accident that ended any chances of making an Olympic team.

Over the next few years, lived a normal life, and went back to school to get a college degree, finishing at UCLA while working with Audi, Volkwagen, and Subaru, as product specialist, traveling the US, from car show- to car show. While at UCLA, launched his first denim jeans company Loyal MIssion. Got married to Adrienne in 2012 and 2015, they welcomed their first baby girl Sierra. In 2016, launched a Youtube channel as a pastime during Sierra’s naps. In 2017, launched Burrfection, a knife-centric channel, in which he discusses knives and sharpening equipment. At the same time Burrfection was launched, he and Adrienne welcomed Raiden and Hanya, yes twins, in March of 2017. In between the children’s nap times, he would find time to exercise and shoot for Burrfection. Today it has grown to 250,000 subscribers, and has blossomed into something a little bit larger than a pastime hobby.
