It’s two more draws against Real Salt Lake making it six draws in a row against those Salty Banana Chips (credit: The Loony Bin Junior). But this time, in the MLS Cup Playoffs, both games go to penalty kicks and the Loons advance to the Western Conference Semifinal against the LA Galaxy. Their victories come on the back of Dayne St. Claire’s PK saves (and RSL’s misses) and a team of shooters who make 8 out of 10 shots. Now we wait three weeks for the Loon’s next playoff game.

While the Loons await their Tuesday game in Utah, The Loony Bin welcomes a new guest to the pod in Kyndra de St. Aubin. We talk MLS Season Pass, the Loon’s season that was and the upcoming Best-of-3 playoff series to come against Real Salt Lake. The guys end the episode talking about the possible MLS calendar switch and how that might impact our cold-climate Loons.

The Loons earn their 2nd straight three goal home victory, this time against St. Louis CITY, and cruise into the 6th seed in the Western Conference. Around the rest of the conference, late goals change the Loons’ playoff opponent until the dust settles and RSL awaits. Dan and Matt work their way through this episode hoping their voices will hold on until the very end.

It’s the October International Break, so who better to bring on than Jeff Rueter from The Athletic. Jeff takes his chances with Loon or Loonlet and then he and Dan talk Coach Ramsay, Khaled El-Ahmad, and the future of MLS before trying to figure out what first round playoff opponent the Loons match up best with. And the official nickname nominations for the giant Loon Sculpture continue.

The Loons earned four points while away at RSL and Vancouver while scoring one total goal from a penalty kick. They’re now up to 405 minutes without conceding a goal, a team record, and have leap-frogged Vancouver for the 7th seed in the playoffs. With a two week break (for those not playing internationally), the team now gets ready for Decision Day at home against St. Louis where they could end the season anywhere from 5th to 8th place.

The Loons play their best home game of the year and Loonlet Matt was in the Wonderwall to take it all in. With three games left, the Loons have a chance to work their way out of the play-in game and into the top 7. We’ve got your Wednesday at RSL and Saturday at Vancouver previews as well before we end with some Loon Droppings.

After a disappointing home loss to a formidable FC Cincinnati team, the Loons went to Sporting Kansas City and took home their first ever points during the MLS regular season. Aided by a weather delay, the crossbar and an upcoming Open Cup final for SKC, the Loons did what they had to do and held onto the last play-in playoff spot for now. Next up is a home game against the Colorado Rapids.

We’re back from a trip to St. Louis where we saw our Loons beat up on CITY and put to bed their playoff push. It’s our first Loons away game and we have so many people to thank for helping make it happen. We end the episode getting you ready for FC Cincinnati at Allianz and the Loon’s trip to Blue Hell, a place that has been nothing but awful for the Loons during the regular season.

It’s the September International Break and thankfully, the Loons don’t have a game this time. With the Loons on a break, we are joyously releasing the full Loony Bin JUNIOR episode, created by our sons with the help of their 3rd grade teacher last year, Mrs. Von Ruden. Thanks again for helping our son’s with this project. Dedicated to farts.

Consider the Loons lucky to play against San Jose, the only team they’ve beaten in MLS play since June 1st. Jon Marthaler from The Minnesota Star Tribune joins The Loony Bin to talk all things Minnesota United. And we’re entering the September International Break with a win, heading to St. Louis City in two weeks where Matt and Dan will see their first Loons road game.

The Loons season begins again (thank god), with some fresh faces in place (quite needed). But it's the same old crap against the Sounders as Seattle wins 3-2 in our house, beating the Loons three times this season. Until we beat them, they are our daddy …

The Summer Transfer Window is over and we’ve brought in six new players. The Loons have just nine games left to make it to the MLS Cup playoffs. Will any of our new players make an impact this year?

As we approach the end of the Summer Transfer Window on Wednesday, August 14th, the Loons have been active bringing in new players, and sending some away. And the Loons didn't advance in this year’s Leagues Cup thanks to another poor result in Seattle, this time from Seattle at home against Necaxa.

Captain Dayne St. Clair plays with his hair on fire and keeps the 10-man Loons alive in Leagues Cup. It’s an Instant Reaction kind of show about Dayne’s historic night.

Matt and Dan talk about the Loons Leagues Cup loss to Seattle, in large part due to another Dotson red card. We’re talking summer transfer window. And we get ready for Necaxa to come to Allianz.

The Summer Transfer Window is open and this team needs reinforcements. Matt and Dan head to the DC United game hoping Loonlet Matt will get to experience his first Wonderwall but instead, gets to experience the pain of the Loons turning a win into a loss in the final minutes. But the Loons get their win against San Jose, even if they didn’t deserve it.

The Loons earn a season-saving tie in Houston and their losing streak ends at six. They now come home for two very winnable home games that must equal six points as the Summer Transfer Window opens and the team gets an MLS regular season break for Leagues Cup. Canada’s run in Copa America ends and the return of Dayne and Tani bolsters a lineup in need of reinforcements. The episode ends with the final segment of our son’s Loony Bin Jr. podcast.

A home loss to Vancouver is followed by a last minute loss to the Galaxy in a 1-2 gut punch that has the Loons season on the brink. The team will head to Houston before coming home for two as the Loons hope that the end of Canada’s Copa America run coupled with the opening of the Summer Transfer Window may give the team some salvation.

We take one week off and our beloved Loons lose all three games against Western Conference opponents, and unfortunately, we have to talk about it. But the games don’t slow down with Vancouver coming to town on Wednesday before the team heads to LA to play the Galaxy. Our Loon Droppings segment ends with the 4th segment of our son’s Loony Bin Jr. Podcast.
