In this episode of The Marketing Commute, we have a great chat with Jackie Lee-Joe who until recently was the CMO of Netflix. Jackie has had a diverse and very global career in marketing starting here in Sydney at UNSW, then continuing in Europe, the UK and the USA. Jackie kick-started her career with Ansett Australia before moving to Europe with Orange as their Global Head of Brand Experience. Since then, Jackie has worked with Virgin Mobile as the GM of Brand and Acquisition, Skype as the Global Director of Audience Marketing, and then on to CMO of BBC Studios in London. She recently returned to Australia from the US eyeing her next career move.

In this episode of The Marketing Commute, we are very excited to welcome Melissa Sherry, leader of ANZ Marketing for Henkel's Laundry and Home Care Division. Melissa graduated from the University of Western Sydney with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Marketing. Her career began in Sydney with Arnott's as their in-store Marketing Manager, before having roles with Energizer, GSK and Nestle. Melissa moved to Singapore with Nestle as a Portfolio Marketing Manager for Purina Petcare across Asia, Oceania and Africa. Melissa has since moved back home to Sydney to be in her current position with Henkel, and we think you will enjoy this dive into Melissa's career journey to date.

In this episode of The Marketing Commute, we talk to Mat Hayward, Chief Marketing Officer of R.M.Williams. Mat was born in New Zealand before heading across to boarding school in Geelong, then back to study a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Management at The University of Otago. Mat started his career in Singapore with Ericsson and continued this global trend by working in Tokyo, the US, Hong Kong, and now Sydney. Mat has worn many hats during his marketing career - as Vice President of Global Marketing with Quiksilver, Consulting Director at Lane Crawford, the Head of Marketing of Deckers Brands (which has brands like UGG), and has even founded his own consulting business, 'A Gentleman’s Opinion'. Mat has been with R.M.Williams since February of 2017 and this is a great chat as the brand ramps up following the acquisition by Tattarang.

In this episode of The Marketing Commute, we talk to Kate Whitney, Chief Marketing and Growth Officer of Marley Spoon. Kate graduated from the University of Canberra with a Bachelor’s in Communications, before beginning her career here in Sydney with M&C Saatchi. Since then, Kate has worked as the Head of Brand and Retail Marketing at Foxtel and the General Manager of Marketing at David Jones. In 2017, Kate moved to New York with Pernod Ricard as the Global Director of Digital, before moving back to Sydney in January 2020 to her current role with Marley Spoon.

In our second episode for Season 3 we talk to Peter Haydon from Australian Pork. Peter grew up and attended University in the UK, graduating with honours in Business Studies from De Montfort University before joining Kraft Foods in 1989 as part of their graduate program. Peter continued to work in the UK for Premier Foods, Horizon Biscuits and before coming to Australia to work in marketing at Lion Nathan, then headed up marketing at Cerebos, before becoming the General Manager of Marketing at Australian Pork in 2007, and as of March 2020 Peter has been Executive General Manager of Operations.

In this, the first episode of Season 3, we talk to Susan Coghill the Chief Marketing Officer for Tourism Australia. Susan grew up in California but has been living in Australia for close to 20 years, and before heading to our shores had a career in advertising in both LA and Singapore. She continued that trend when she arrived in Australia, working for agencies such as Publicis Mojo, Whybin TBWA, and The Campaign Palace. Then in the early 2010s, Susan shifted across to the marketing world, becoming the Head of Advertising at Westpac, then had a similar role with Qantas, before joining Tourism Australia as the General Manager - Creative, Content & Campaigns. And in mid-2019, Susan became their CMO. A dual US and Australian citizen, we very much enjoyed exploring Susan’s journey through advertising and marketing and now with 'Brand Australia'.

Jules began his career as a TV presenter for the Channel Nine Show Getaway, before moving on to host a suite of TV and Radio shows. In September 2015, Jules launched TR|BE, an influencer marketplace for brands to connect with social media influencers to create campaigns aimed at the influencer's audience. We think Jules enjoyed being the 'guest' for a change.

Jess Davey has had a highly successful career as an international Marketing heavyweight, working in some of the world's largest marketing and ad agencies in Europe and Asia. Currently based in Singapore, Jess is currently the Chief Marketing Officer at McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific, and is responsible for the growth in the region. Mark has had a very successful career in motorsports spanning Formula 3, Formula 1, Le Mans, and the World Endurance Championship. Beyond the racetrack, Mark has launched a highly successful sports clothing business called Aussie Grit, and amongst his tireless work for his charities and foundations, is a Global Ambassador for Porsche motorcars and Rolex watches. It has been quite a transition from F1 racing to the upper echelons of marketing in these ambassadorial roles and within his own business. Our guest in this episode is Ed Smith. Ed is the General Manager Integrated Marketing EU at Amazon. Prior to moving overseas, Ed worked in Australia, as the executive director of sales and marketing at Foxtel, as well as running his own business and he shares with us some very interesting experiences in between.
