On this week's episode I give you the most honest episode yet. I hated being pregnant the entire 37 weeks. I felt bad for feeling like this because people always post about how they love it, their skin is glowing, and that they feel so blessed to be growing a miracle inside them. While yes this may be true for some pregnant women it's not true for all. I really wanted to make this episode to let people know that the expectations that social media puts out are not the end all be all. This is not how the majority of how women feel. This is a highlight reel and we need to remember that.

2023 is here and in full swing. I know we all made a list of our new year's resolutions and now that we think about it it may seem like a lot. One of the best ways to stay on top of our resolutions and just trying to be our best selves in general is habit stacking.
In this episode Ali talks about the benefits of habit stacking as well as the best way to implement it into our day to day lives.
Ali also talks about her mindset shifts and how the only thing she can control in life is herself. Why should she waste her time and her energy comparing herself to others when the only thing that truly matters is being 1% better than she was the day before.

On episode 5 we are joined by Christine Galgano. Christine is a 30 year old NYPD officer who loves BJJ and CrossFit. She has always lived an active lifestyle until one day she physically couldn't. Christine was diagnosed with a rare form of Lupus that was eating away at her muscles. The doctors said if it wasn't for Christine's athletic build before the onset of the disease she would have died. From that point on Christine knew she had a dedicate her life to fitness. Her first thought was to serve her county in the United States Army, however, with her diagnosis that was no longer an option. When one of her brothers (she is a triplet) mentioned that the NYPD was opening up their test Christine hopped right on board and began the process of becoming a police officer.
On this episode Christine talks about her journey of being diagnosed with Lupus and how she decided to not let the diagnosis define her. She is living her life to the fullest and will be headed to Africa next month and hiking Mt. Kilimanjaro.

This week's episode we talk with Rev. Marlisa LaRiche about what it truly means to live a toxin-free lifestyle. At 25 years old, she had debilitating chronic pelvic pain. She couldn’t work and could barely get off the couch. Three surgeries in a year and a half and she knew there had to be other options. This was not the life she wanted to continue living.
Marlisa learned that it was a necessity to be very conscious on what we put in our body but also what we put on our body as our skin is the largest organ. She knew she wanted to make major lifestyle changes and the more she started researching the more she realized just how many toxins surrounded us in the home, from our food and water all the way to cleaning supplies and beauty products.

Evangeline Dardouni (called Vange by almost everyone) has been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2013, and a certified Vinyasa Yoga teacher since 2009. She grew up in Washington Heights, Manhattan in the 90's, and finished high school in North Jersey in 98’. She attended LIU Brooklyn for her Bachelors. She has lived in Staten Island since 2015 and more specifically on the South Shore since 2019.
In her mid 30's Vange discovered she was a Highly Sensitive Person ( look it up its a real thing!!) Her central nervous system reaches further and deeper than a typical nervous system. This neuro-divergence gives Evangeline a rare and richer experience of life and relationships. She has the ability to sense subtle shifts in her environment, and the moods and emotions of people and animals. It's this heightened sense of awareness that makes Evangeline an empathetic and affective Massage Therapist. Her massage style toes the line of physical and spiritual.
Vange is relentless in the pursuit of her truth, and seeks the most authentic expression of who she is in all she does.
When not massaging Evangeline can be found working out at Crossfit Thrive, reading in coffee shops, or in a park with her feet in the dirt. She loves the beach and mountains equally, and looks for magic everyday.

This week's meditation will focus on happiness. Find a memory, a place, a person that makes you happy and think about it. Focus on what about that makes you happy. Allow yourself to smile or laugh remembering it. Focus on that feeling of happiness and take it with you for the rest of your day or week.

Welcome to the trailer of Living Simply with Sam.
I am so excited to begin this new adventure and take my love for health and wellness and share it with all of you. A little Background on myself. I am 25 years old and from NYC. I am currently a police officer with the NYPD and I'm a relatively new wife and mom (my daughter just turned 1). I have been on my fitness journey for about 6 years now and have been through all the ups and downs that it entails.
The podcast will be about learning how to balance everything health and wellness. Of course while that encompasses fitness and nutrition I wanna make sure it also covers self-care and mental health. Life should be lived simply, no quick fixes or fad diets, no bringing ourselves to the brink of burnout in our personal or professional lives, and no all or nothing mentalities when it comes to the gym.
Health and wellness plays a huge part in our everyday life whether we realize it or not.
Not only will we talk to those who have different nutritional focuses, such as vegan, keto, paleo, macro counting and intuitive eating; we will also be talking to those who train differently such as strength training, powerlifting, CrossFit, Yoga etc. We will speak to those who are training for certain events such as Body Building competitions, marathons, Spartan Races and much more. You will hear from entrepreneurs in the fitness world as well as everyday people on how fitness affects their day to day lives as parents, students and first responders.
Each week we will focus on mental health and what different ways of self-care can look like. We will use these different practices in order to honor our bodies and our minds for what they do for us each and every day and remind ourselves to express gratitude for all that we have in our lives.
