This special edition of Mystic Tye Wes Regan and I try something new. We listened to the recent address by Chris Hodapp at Grand Masonic Day 2024 and stopped occasionally to provide some of our own commentary. This is our first attempt at something like this, and we both really enjoyed it. I hope you will too!

Welcome to the Mystic Tye. A podcast for Freemasons. I am your host Troy Spreeuw.
This recording took place at Grand Masonic Day 2024 at the Agnes Street Masonic Centre on May 25th 2024. Brother Christopher Hodapp was the keynote speaker that day and he delivered a great presentation full of the candor and humour about our Gentle Craft that he is known for. Br. Hodapp was a gracious guest to our jurisdiction for several days and I was blessed to be able to spend so much time with this humble brother. I am now proud to be able to call him a friend as well as a brother.
Please note that this was recorded with nearly 100 people in attendance as well as broadcast through our zoom audience that afternoon. Apologies for any loss of sound quality as events such as this are organised to be attended live not recorded in a studio. Still, I am ecstatic that this turned out so well and expect my processing and mastering of it will increase the listening quality before release.
Stay tuned to our channel for a future episode where Br. Wes Regan and I provide a running commentary of this event. Also, watch for future episodes with recordings of the other four presentations from GMD2024.
Christopher L. Hodapp is the author of Freemasons For Dummies, the world's best-selling introduction to the Masonic fraternity. His blog of the same name is the most widely read source of current national and international news about Freemasonry. Check out his website for a full biography of his publications and accomplishments.

Grand Masonic Day 2024 Keynote Chris Hodapp Interview
In this episode I am honored to present my recent interview with Br. Chris Hodapp. We talk about his upcoming appearance at Grand Masonic Day 2024 as our keynote speaker, how posting over 5000 entries in his blog was no big deal, and whether Freemasonry is ONLY for Dummies. Enjoy!

Br. Ike Baker and I open the interview talking about his first book “A Formless Fire”, including his motivations for writing the book and who he thinks would enjoy reading it. We then talk a little about some upcoming conferences and events, closing with an extensive background of his time in The Craft.
Ike Baker is an initiate of several lineages within the modern Western Esoteric traditions including Freemasonry, Martinism and the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. He is Imperator of the Aroueris-Hathor Temple in Asheville, North Carolina, as well as an author and content creator who hosts the ARCANVM YouTube Channel and Podcast. creating documentary-style presentations and interviewing some of the top scholars, practitioners, and authors in occultism, magic, and esoteric traditions. He is also a co-founder of the 2024 New Hermopolis International Conference being held in October of this year at the New Hermopolis eco-village in Egypt near the ruins of Hermopolis Magna, which will host keynote speakers and presentations from scholars and practitioners in the modern esoteric traditions. Ike is also one of the co-founders and organizer of the 2024 Southeastern Masonic Symposium in Asheville, North Carolina taking place June 8th and 9th. His debut book entitled A Formless Fire: Rediscovering the Magical Traditions of the West was published earlier this year by Tria Prima Press.
A Formless Fire: Rediscovering the Magical Traditions of the West, is podcaster, lecturer, and practitioner Ike Baker’s debut book on the history, theory, and practice of the Western Esoteric Traditions. An ambitious first offering, A Formless Fire takes the reader on an epic tour of the ancient histories, philosophies, and worldview from which the modern occult and magical traditions emerged, supplying much-needed context and insight culled from two decades of research and practice in such arts as astrology, alchemy, tarot, geomancy, and ceremonial magic. Baker follows the astro-theological and theurgic threads of magical philosophy and practice beginning in Hellenized Egypt, culminating in their transmission throughout the history of western civilization to the modern day, while elaborating their detailed and exhaustive theoretical bases and practical applications.

Dr. Nathan Schick was brought to my attention by Jaime Paul Lamb at Tria Prima Press. Br. Schick and I discuss his new book “The Grand Communication”, what led him to become a Freemason, and how the REAL secret of The Craft is “Gumbo.”
Nathan Schick is a faculty member in the School of History, Philosophy, and Religious Studies at Arizona State University. He has been a Freemason and active member of Glendale Lodge #23 since 2017, where he currently serves as Senior Warden. He is a master ritualist and master lecturer under the Grand Lodge of Arizona. He has been avidly homebrewing beer, cider, and wine for over a decade.

Bro. Wes Regan joins me to talk a little about our involvement in organizing Grand Masonic Day 2024, which is scheduled for May 25. Br. Chris Hodapp has been formally announced as keynote speaker this year. Wes will also be speaking, presenting some of his research about attacks on Freemasonic buildings.
We talk a little about his interest in why conspiracy theories are so influential in modern society and how we both came to The Craft from this common interest.

The Mystic Tye is a podcast for Freemasons.
I intend to curate a environment where brethren and other aspirants can discuss ideas in a civil and productive way. We will not be afraid to tackle controversial or difficult topics, but all discussions will be done in a respectful and understanding manner. With the forbearance exemplified by our ancient brethren we will labour in the quarry together to prepare the stones of our thoughts and actions. All these prepared for the temple not made with hands.
A few weeks ago I caught up with Right Worshipful Brother Wes Regan to record this brief sample episode. Wes and I talk a little bit about this project and some topics he would like to cover on his recurring visits.
