About Garrett:
Garrett McGrath has over 30 years of experience as a top network marketing professional and is a highly sought-after keynote speaker, leadership trainer and team-builder. Mr. McGrath has built organizations in excess of 150,000+ distributors in 21 countries worldwide, together with his wife and business partner, Sylvia, and has served as Master Distributor for four network marketing companies.
Over the past several years, Garrett has also served in various corporate leadership roles: as Chief Impact Officer, as President, and as CEO of an award-winning, international network marketing company.
Garrett is a regular contributor to various industry-wide generic educational conferences, such as Direct Selling University, Rank Makers Live, the European Direct Selling Congress, and has been featured in a variety of professional publications, such as Direct Selling News, Social Selling News, Networking Times and Business For Home.
Garrett has also served as President of the Association of Network Marketing Professionals (ANMP) since 2012. Today's guest on Legacy Leadership is Stephane Page, a top field leader and recruiter in the network marketing profession.
But at the top of the show, Donna Marie Seritella joined to help us honor the great Doris Wood who passed away this week at 92 years old.
Stephane Page started his career as an entrepreneur at the age of 19. He operated and grew his family business renting snowmobiles, boats, and ATVs.
He discovered Network Marketing at that time and although his traditional business was quite successful, he didn't have the same success with Network Marketing.
He joined 5 companies, three of which went out of business. He wasn't discouraged though but the following 16 years were hard. He talked to friends and family, approached strangers on the street, met with sales clerks at the shopping mall, left flyers on car windshields, and placed ads online with not much success. And for an introverted and shy guy, these were totally out of his comfort zone!
Until he teamed up with Tim Sales and focused on learning a few simple skills that are essential to the business and combined with his persistent attitude, he began to climb the ranks and became one of the top leaders in his current company. His wife Claudia joined him in the business full time and have created systems together that helped them duplicate much faster. They have reached the top position in their company, earned an Elite Award as one of the top three recruiters their first year in the company, opened South Korea, have one of the fastest growing teams in Europe, helped launch Canada, and earned the Vision Award which means they represent what the corporate team and the field judge as model leaders.
Today Stephane and Claudia live in the mountains in Quebec, Canada. They have 3 daughters who saw them transform into leaders and inspired them to start their own businesses as well. They love to travel, do outdoor activities, and enjoy the good life of a successful network marketing business.

"The thing that I found for building relationships is that I have to give value first. I have to give, give, give before I ever ask for anything. One thing that I like to do, by the way, is occasionally I will pick people up at the airport. Nobody does that, who's crazy enough, just get an Uber, right? But I'll go to the airport, I'll pick somebody up.
The give, give, give idea is that even in hosting, I don't like when, when folks host at a bar or at a restaurant, cuz then we all pay our bills and that's not generous. I think you have to host your party in your home because it's so vulnerable and it's so generous to invite someone into your home that that very act is so vulnerable and similar.
In building these relationships, I look to, how can I give, give, give. To give to a person before I ever ask for anything, and so that would be my general advice. I'm happy to go on specifics, but that's generally how I think about and in hosting a party to build your network. Why this works is you give a ton of party invitations.
Remember, a party invite is like a little gift that you give to give somebody. You're saying, I like you, would you come to my home? Everyone wants to be invited. I've sent thousands of invites and not once has a mega millionaire ever said, stop inviting me to these free parties where you'll introduce me to interesting people."

You know, it's interesting when I think about network marketing a lot of people call it a disguise for personal development and early, I didn't know what that meant. I went to Wheaton. I took all of the necessary classes. I took all the GenEds, I took all of the science classes. I did everything I was told to do.
But what was interesting was I felt like most of what I learned in college didn't translate to the real world. Nobody taught me about residual income. Nobody taught me about taxes. Nobody taught me about social media or people skills. I felt like no one really gave me what I needed. College taught me how to manage my time.
College taught me how to work hard. College taught me how to become independent. College taught me how to network. So there were massive benefits to my time at Wheaton, but I felt like when I stepped into network marketing, it's a 1099 situation where you're only paid if you produce. And so I walked into a situation where if I didn't make sales, if I didn't move products, there was no commission for me.
So I tell people that if you want to transition to an entrepreneur, maybe you've been an employee for a number of years, or maybe you're just coming outta college, where wherever you're at in life, if you like, The, the path of entrepreneurship. Get yourself a good network marketing company and participate there for five years.
And what those five years will teach you is how to deal with rejection, how to overcome adversity, how to have the ups and the downs that comes with business. How to learn marketing, how to learn accounting, how to, how to minimize your tax liability, all of the things that you learn when you become an entrepreneur.

"I am your classic friend, salesperson by nature. I was always concerned with what the other person was thinking and feeling, and if they were going to like me. So therefore I would never take a chance by quote, "pushing too hard" and in my mind pushing was asking them to buy what I had to sell.
What I came to realize eventually is that my definition of what selling was and what my function was, was wrong. I thought that selling was something you did TO people. I saw selling as something evil. I saw it as a manipulative, task that somehow got people to do something they didn't want to do or shouldn't do.
The change in mindset for me and that I think that most people need is to understand that selling is not something you do to people. It's something you do FOR people. And if you've asked great questions and you have a great product or you have a great service or a great opportunity, if you're going to do something for them, then you need to ask them to buy."

"The book industry started to get crushed. Now I've been in it 50 years. I'm with eight major houses, random House, Hay House, HCI. Love everybody in the business. Love the librarians, everybody. But gosh, the pandemic took 19,000 bookstores turned into 400, crushed them. And those are people I love and know.
And then the biggest book publisher at Random House, 25 billion a year, just went phewww. They just laid off 8,000 people fired the Chairman, the Vice Chairman. So we were looking around saying, well, wait a second. The most important thing is have books out there. So we know the book business inside out and everybody in it…
So let's us start a publishing. Last year, (we are 14 months old right now) We had 18 number one best sellers outta 18 that we did!'
