Episodes

  • The point of a miracle morning is to prepare yourself to win the day. You’re setting yourself up for success.

Affirm, “I am a phenomenal student”. Capture the essence of what you’re learning, and implement it to a level of mastery.

Some of us are still looking at the world as if it's happening to us, rather than for us.

Use your Reticular Activating System (RAS) and identify your goals in your environment. Then, you can prepare for what you want because you are now clear about it.

Your internal dialogue with yourself is a reflection of how you prepare yourself for life. Pair this with visualization in your daily routine.

"If you fail to prepare, you’re preparing to fail" - Benjamin Franklin

If you read something, and don’t implement it shortly after, you are not ‘preparing’ for your goals.

“My father didn’t care about what grades I got at school, but he cared if I implemented my learnings” - Rock

  • What would happen if you had a billionaire mentor, versus someone who’s only a few steps ahead of you?

You have to be cautious on who you allow inside your head. No one person has all the answers. You have to customize every piece of information you get so it makes sense in your life

Everybody has their limits. As Clint Eastwood said, “A man’s got to know his limitations”

Surround yourself with possibility people. People who say YES and figure it out later. People who are focused on solutions, not problems. People that find ways to make it work!

Be unshakeable. Acknowledge that there’s a way. When you come from that place, happiness is not subject to your circumstances

Don’t put your happiness in someone else’s hands

Stand guard at the door of your mind and ask yourself if you had a young child, would you let that thought enter their mind?

The world is trying to limit your possibilities

Every day you have the power to chose how you’re going to respond to every stimulus

  • Your friends are comfortable with your present, and your mentors are comfortable with your future!

If you tell your lazy friend you want to start working out, versus telling your mastermind group, you will see the difference in accountability

If you have a goal, and you’re feeling like not following through, remember the brothers and sisters you told about this goal, and how it would feel to let them down

When you feel it getting hard, remember if it was hard everyone would do it

Focus on the admiration of pulling through, not the people that tell you quitting is normal

You have to seek and grow to hang out with people who are above you. You have to seek and grow to travel the world. Your mentors and teachers are comfortable with the newer version of yourself

It’s easy to drop the standard, and procrastinate. But when you think about the rewards, when you think about the love of your fellow peers, you will find it in yourself to push through

Surround yourself with people who care above the HIGHER version of yourself. Period.

Use the opportunity of hanging out with peers to leverage your intellectual growth

There’s nothing you can’t find the solution for when you put a few minds together

Doubt your doubts. Believe what’s possible

The beautiful thing about these mentors, is that you can be friends with them for the rest of your life. Badasses flock with badasses

You're as sick as your secrets. You have to understand we are all cut from the same cloth, your energy attracts

There is no failure. There is just winning and learning

Fill your life with your mentors if you want to move excitedly to the best version of yourself

  • Acting As If

The first step is to not believe your own thoughts. Your job is to monitor your thoughts, and to tune-in to the right channel. Just because they are your thoughts don’t make them empowering.

Another distinction is, why not chose to take on the energy of people you admire?

“When I started speaking, I embodied Tony Robbins on stage. It was almost like I was copying him. After a while, I started to gain confidence, and I started to morph into myself.”

'Acting as if' is similar to modelling, but it’s instantaneous and happens in moment. You can borrow someone else’s belief as well. What would so and so do in such a situation? It’s all about stepping

    into a more empowering state.

  • EDGE is ENERGY

“I believe we all need to make a difference.” To do that, we need energy. We also need to feel like we matter.

Our morning routine needs to create fuel. If it doesn’t, we aren’t using our full potential.

Your first meal of the day is breakfast. ‘Breakfast' means ‘to break the fast’. You’re breaking the fast of your 8 hour sleep. What you put in your body can either be sh!t, or it can be healthy.

You can start to 'break the rest' by getting up FAST. You want to get up and activate all the cells in your body, so that it contributes to the rest of your day. 70% of the energy in your body is used to

digest the sh!t you eat. Did you feel energize after your Christmas dinner? We are NOT meant to eat a lot. We are NOT meant to eat what the big agencies advertise to us.

The ultimate edge is when you have an unfair advantage over every other human being on the planet. That staying-power, that persistence, that problem-solving attitude. When you decide to take

action on your age-defying health, you’ve made the decision to work towards your ultimate edge.

The EDGE is ENERGY. When you up your health game, you’re going to lose your cravings, tame the beast of food, and resonate on a new energy level.

Your miracle morning will leave you ahead of the crowd over time. Commit yourself to having an ultimate edge.

  • Energy

Think about a child that you know. What is the word that would finish this sentence, “This child is brilliant because _______”

When people think of a vision for what they want, they always find something they are lacking in the present moment. Why do humans of that?

How can we create compelling goals but don’t limit our current state?

You have to be aware that, we are not wired for happiness. We will always find something that could be improved, or something we don’t have. You know the saying, "we want what we can’t have.”

A secret to happiness is to just appreciate what a situation is, not imagine what it could be. Our unhappiness comes from wishing things could be different.

Appreciate where you are, and keep moving forward towards your goal.

Anything worth earning takes time. If it was easy, everybody would do it. Stay grounded when you’re grinding!

On mentors: they pull you into their vortex. That’s the power of being around great people.

Appreciate yourself, and give it your very, very best. Those tough times don’t last, but tough people do.

  • Making Money with AirBnB and Tax Deeds: Featuring Marco Jacober

M: Most people think AirBnB is buying your own place, or renting it. The idea is for us to get outside the box, not stay inside it.

R: I am aware that you went to Harv Eker’s courses. I always tell my tribe to get out and go to events, that’s where the magic happens. Accountability is key.

M: The small decisions impact our lives tremendously over time.

R: Our “why” is what moves us forward.

M: When I first started I thought raising capital was going to be the hardest thing. But, I realized after I started making a strategy, people starting calling ME with money to invest. You don’t need a lot

of money to get started on a cash-flow cow. People think they need to own a house to get started in AirBnB, but that isn’t true. You can rent places, and then AirBnB them. I rented a home with no

furniture in it, signed a lease, and I made it happen. Get someone else’s asset, utilize it, and make money for yourself.

R: So what you’re saying is I don’t need a home or capital to get started?

    M: Yes.

R: What’s a rough idea of a return if someone invests with you?

M: Per unit, you can get $15,000 - $25,000 per year net. A one bedroom goes for approximately $100 per night. At that rent, you’re getting about $3000 a month for a property you don’t own. It might

take $1500 to get started, but you’ll make that back by the end of the month. Once you get started and get through the first month it’s gravy.

    R: What are some pitfalls?

M: The landlord has to be onboard, so there’s no legal issues. It’s better for the landlord to have you anyways. There’s less wear-and-tear on the property from AirBnB then a regular renter. That’s how

it usually is. There’s a short-term renters insurance that you set up to make sure everything is covered. This stuff is minute but you don’t have to worry about it till you get involved.

The cliche about real estate, “location”, it’s true for AirBnB as well. We use a “Burger King Effect” to chose locations (More on that next time). Generally, if there’s a spot with a lot of hotels, that’s a

good spot for AirBnbs. This isn’t conventional thinking, but you want to be close to the hotels as possible. They have done studies.

I’m passionate about real estate, AirBnB is just another tool under the real estate belt. I don’t consider Tax Liens and Deeds a niche in itself. I will speak on that Monday.

I’ve acquired properties for as low as $50, and sold them for a couple thousand. Anything is possible with these strategies.

R: Howe’s the regulations in certain cities?

M: So Uber fought some battles in some cities, it’s going to take time for people to adjust to this new market. Counties are losing money with AirBnB, but as long as they take a cut they will let it

happen. It’s different everywhere. There’s occupancy taxes and stuff like that. I’m excited about the future because AirBnB is growing and it’s available worldwide.

R: Like Rockefeller said, control everything and own nothing. You were an ex-truck driver, so it’s amazing what you’re doing. It’s possible for anyone.

On Monday we will talk about making it a reality for people. When people see success stories, they get the confidence they can do it themselves.

M: People will get the steps from me, and I will break it down nice and easy. Everyone can be in the AirBnB business the next day.

R: Yeah my mom started AirBnBing a room in her house, she makes like $62 a day, and she just bought a Honda Civic and she’s stoked. With creativity you can create anything!

    Let’s make some millionaires here!

How much money does AirBnB take as a cut?

M: 3%. Thank you for having me. I will see you Monday to talk to your M1 Tribe. When I walk outside now Rock, I see things people don’t see. I’m excited to share that with your people. I did this

because I wanted to be free, there’s no boss in this game. You don’t need a million dollar income to be free. If you can create a passive income stream that brings you enough money, you’re good to go!

R: This is going to pour gasoline on people’s fires. I see people are fired up. Thanks for your time Marco.

  • Leadership, Love & LaughterLeadership is when you give without expectation. You show up and do the right thing. It’s similar to love.So what is love? A good way to describe it, is like that of a dog; unconditional. It’s enthusiastic, and it’s given without any expectation. So maybe leadership is stepping up and doing what is right. Sharing, caring and making a difference!Leadership is looking to help, without thinking about what YOU’RE getting out of it. It’s giving a smile to someone, it’s looking to make an impression. Appreciate the small things. Fill yourself up with love, and end the critic that’s in your head. When you start filling yourself up, you can start giving! If you find yourself without love, you tend to seek it elsewhere... and that isn’t the best strategy.Be willing to do what needs to be done without keeping score. Do it because it’s the right thing. If you do this, the universe will provide for you. Some people don’t do this because they think their isn’t enough resources going around. That’s a scarcity mindset, and not practical. There’s egocentric and world-centric. Once you fill up yourself, you can then give to the world. It’s about being bold and brave, but not brash. You don’t need a reason to laugh either. What you repress is something you didn’t receive in your life. The emotion goes from resistance, to repression, to where it’s presented everywhere. A child doesn’t give a smile or a hug with a desire to get something back, it just naturally shows up that way.Visit www.rockthomas.com for more Rock Thomas!Visit www.gom1.com for more information about the M1 March to a Million program.

  • Rule #3

It’s all about finding a level of fulfillment that will light you up

Take a note of your general tendencies and skills, and schedule days where you will work on improving those skills

In the next 90 days, focus on improving one thing at a time. If you want it to serve you long-term, you have to start now!

Anytime that you want to sharpen your skills, you need to put in the work upfront. Everything has a compound effect. It’s very front-heavy

Have an accountability partner, a consequence if you fail, and a compelling reward for your new goal. This will help you put in the work on your skill, and not quit when it gets hard

“If you’re tired of starting over, stop quitting.”

Are you sharpening your skills? Are you aware of your talents? Are you doing things that you’re good at, that help you make a living, but doesn’t necessarily light you up?

Be aware of it all. This is your life!

  • Rituals of the Rich (Rule 8)

Whatever you do before 8am and 8pm, make it sacred. Fall back in love with yourself.

Do you ever wake up and there’s a voice wanting you to stay in bed 5 minutes longer? Do you ever have wake up and feel compelled to jump out of bed?

You find yourself in different modes everyday.

Set yourself up to have an environment that FIRES you up, and you will rise up out of your bed in the morning when that inner voice starts talking. Once you form these habits, they will take the load off and you won’t have to do anything. Your body will start pulling you towards the proper action if you develop the proper habits.

When would it be a good time to get back into those strong rituals, if you fell out of them?

It’s not effort. It’s the environment that excites you, the people you see that excite you, your workplace, etc.

It’s all about creating successful rituals that will carry you forward.

Tell me what you do before 8am and before 8pm and I can predict your financial future.

The chains of habit are too light to be felt under their too strong to be broken.

Schedule events in your calendar so it COMPELS you forward.

Do you have any addictions that are not serving you?

Environment and people rule. Surround yourself with people that are CRUSHING IT. Your environment is CRUCIALLY important.

If you’re going to have a conversation with yourself, it might as well be epic.

Richard Branson said exercise is the best thing entrepreneurs can do.

  • What happens when you’re in the “valley of darkness”?

There’s going to be a rainy day in your life. What do you do? Keep walking forward.

If you’re wondering if it will ever get easier, and wondering when the Winter will end, find something to keep faith in, because it will get easier.

Hard choices, easy life. Easy choices, hard life.

The harvest always comes later. You reap what you sow.

There’s seasons to life, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. Everything will pass in due time. There’s uncertainty, and times where self-doubt will arise. Keep faith.

Don’t wish for things to be easier, wish for you to be stronger.

When you get into those muddy situations, remember to be humble and ask for help.

Nurture, water, and protect the seed. The seed is every garden of your life.

When you’re in the Fall and harvesting, don’t be optimistic because the good times won’t last forever. It will fluctuate.

There’s a way to appreciate each season of your life. Being aware of it makes the process a lot easier.

  • If you put the man together, the world will come together.

In 18 months, the time frame that Peter Drucker recommends, it’s possible to revolutionize your whole life.

You are here because god put you here. You didn’t join a mastermind group out of coincidence. Everything was pre-ordained by the universe. It’s destiny.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life. The difference between today and yesterday is the choices your going to make.

In 18 months you can have anything you want.

  • There is no limit in your life.

Your walls were created by you and the only way to break these limits is to schedule your success.

Be happy for no reason. What brings you your happiness?

Time and money are simply resources. What are you investing your time and money in?

For every positive in your life, take something negative out. Make space in your life!

Where are you on your schedule for success?

  • On today's Rise With Rock we feature a special guest, Tim Rhode, co-founder of Gobundance and founder of 1Life Fully Lived.

Today, Tim talks about heart centered leadership and genuine contribution.

Say YES and ask HOW later, or the HOW will eventually appear later

You have to take care of yourself before you can take care of others. You have to put the oxygen mask on yourself before you help someone put it on.

Tim says do something for someone you love when you start feeling like you’re a complainer. Get out of yourself, and do something for someone else.

Tim says he looks for ways he can cheat, especially when he was young and busy. He looked for times to cat nap. Think about EAP = Efficient, affective, productive.

When you’re on vacation, think about your vacation, not work. Wherever you are, be there. "I am where I am when I am!”

Tim was fanatical about managing his time, and time blocking certain things.

Tim says you have to do what you do best. Build on strengths.

“The man who chases two rabbits catches none” - Confucius

While you are young, use your energy wisely and invest it into labor. Tim says if he could go back, he would try to enjoy the process more.

Tim retired at 40, and says to ‘save your money’.

    A) Understand how much money is coming in and find ways to increase it B) Monitor what’s going out C) Invest wisely

Jay Leno didn’t touch 1 penny from his Tonight Show money, he invested it. He lives off the income from his comedy gigs.

  • The little angel and devil on each shoulder tells you different voices.

    If, Then statements.

“If I make the sale, then I will be happy”

We have this tendency to say if THIS happens THEN I will be happy.

You give up happiness and the ability to manufacture emotions to the outside world. Become a master of meaning, become an individual that makes his or her own rules for success, for and pride. “I believe you can build your confidence and self-esteem by getting yourself to do things even if you don’t feel like it.”

Make it easier for yourself to feel good. When you feel good, you tend to take better action. Nothing has meaning but the meaning we give it.

  • Problems don’t go away, they just get upgraded.

You need to find problems you love to solve.

Warning: if you fall in love with the results, you might not pay the price of practice in private.

What pain do you love to experience?

Muhammed Ali was known for hating training, but he wired himself to love the results.

Pain is not meant to go away, emotions are fleeting. They are indicators. If you are a social personality type, you could thrive in a social setting.

It’s wise to find something where the process is fun.

“In your life stop trying to be happy by avoiding your problems, but rather find problems you love to solve.”

Today’s RWR is about choosing your problem, and lusting to solve it.

  • We must all become better students. People know what to do, but they must do what they know. How many people do you know are humble enough to take notes at every meeting and conference they attend?

We were taught in school to sit down and be quiet. It was not the environment for creativity.

If you live your life like quietly today, you will have some problems. You must affirm to yourself that you are an excellent student. You must look for the nuance, the distinction and anything unique in the person you are studying so you can apply it to your life.

    Have child-like excitement.

The next time you learn something, take a micro-action after you set the goal or realize the new distinction.

Decisions lead to more decisions. So when you make better decisions, like learning something and applying it, you move forward.

Hang around people who have strengths where your weaknesses are.

If you do what you love right now, you don’t have to wait to be financially free to do it. Most of us have a limiting belief that we can’t do what we love because it won’t earn us money.

Raise your energy, raise your curiosity, commit to learning and bring that learning into into your world.

Affirm to yourself right now, I AM ______________ (an exceptional student for example).

If you can emotionalize the experience you will have during the upcoming week, you will show up more powerfully. That is why planning is important.

Our mind has one job, it wants to keep us away from the unknown and the dangerous.

The habit of hesitation holds people back. When your brain is protecting you, you tend to be pulled back. That is why struggling people seek for all the information to make a decision, and rich people only need part of the information. Override the part of your brain that keeps you stuck with only what you know. Mix some uncertainty in your life to scramble the programming of your brain and cause creativity.

It’s good to force our nervous system to learn new things, because complacency is a hazard.

Say YES and figure it out later comes from that concept. Perfection is the enemy of doing.

Be proud of being an amazing student. You can be a great student when it comes to learning about anything. Life is an evolution of learning. Oh, and then take what you learn and contribute to the greater good by sharing it with others.

  • Accountability

What if every month everyone had to improve and report on their budget, compared to the last month? What would happen if you HAD to measure everything, don’t you think it would be managed?

If you put a frog in boiling hot water, it will jump out. If you put a frog into lukewarm water, and turn the heat up slowly, the frog won’t jump out, and slowly die. That’s the same with humans. They start with one bite of a muffin, and then after a year they are overweight.

Are you showing up to your accountability meetings ready, and actually holding your peers accountable to the goals they set the week prior? Or are you showing up and ‘forgetting’ what’s on the agenda?

You must set consequences if you don’t follow through on your goals.

“Life rewards action.” Action is the only way to create new life.

"If people show up, they should be award in my opinion. 80% of success is showing up.” How are YOU showing up in your everyday life? Are you doing your best, and doing all that you can?

When you do your OneSheet, you will become more associated with long-term and short-term goals. Write our your eulogy, and think how you want to be remembered when you die.

How are you holding YOURSELF accountable? Do you believe that some of the most successful people have problems holding themselves accountable to doing whatever it takes?

A compelling future is important to have, because it moves you in the right direction, and it gets you out of bed in the morning.

“If you want to go to Asia, put it in your calendar.”

“Congratulations to Mike Sjrogen who created $4,000 of wealth for himself by referring people to M1”

"If you hang out with 5 losers, you will be the 6th. If you hang out with 5 winners, you will be the 6th."

"Hang out with people in M1.”

"Tell someone how FREAKING awesome they are today!"

  • Problems are not the problems.

Rock says we are addicted to our problems.

Rock talks about the human needs in Rule 4. We meet our needs because we must.

People feel a need to tell their problems to other people. People look for problems to use a badge of honour. A whole life millionaire does not fall in love with their problems; they decide to have higher standards, and set goals.

People that are successful set goals, and create new problems for themselves. The thing is, they chose those problems, and they are empowered because they get to do their problems. They live proactive, not reactive.

People choose their vibration. People do their miracle morning because they understand the benefits of it.

“You must now break through that conditioning.”

That’s why you put yourself in a tribe like this. People that expect you to step-up every day.

The little things that happen when nobody is watching will pay you a dividend in the long term.

People who fall under their problems use language like; “I hope”

Whole life millionaires defy what is—and they step up and decide what they will make of their lives.

They love challenges. Their energy is percolating on the edge. They understand there’s only ONE TIME AT BAT.

When you’re in a purposeful mode, you don’t have problems. You have solutions. By serving people you will get all of these great things.

Change the way that you look at your problems, and decide you’re going to live in a place of setting goals.

Rock mentions the Super Bowl; winners find a way to win.

    Problems = opportunities.

  • Rock makes us think about a time where we obsessed about something.

Rock mentions when he was on a farm, at 12 years old he realized he had no connection with other people. He thought about getting a scooter to be able to connect with people. He obsessed over getting it.

Rock focused on the burning desire, not the process.

Rock gets us hyped up by dwelling on that obsession that we all had in our mind.

Rock mentions the story of a young man who had a burning desire to work for Thomas Edison.

Rock mentions that it’s not through dabbling that you achieve success; it’s through an obsession.

Rock mentions the Mongolians who brought their family to the front lines of the battlefield. The Mongolians never lost a war.

Rock wanted to become a pilot at the age of 15, he wanted to fly away to freedom. He bussed it to Ontario, with no job. He asked for jobs when he arrived, and he picked tobacco. 80% of people quit that job, that’s how hard it is. Do what’s hard, and life will be easy. Rock didn’t listen to his self-talk. 6 weeks of tobacco picking, Rock came home and took flying lessons. His teacher offered him to be a partner in the business. Rock was obsessed. #BeObsessedOrBeAverage

Rock mentions the Super Bowl, and how the players are obsessed and PPPP (PAID THE PRICE OF PRACTICE IN PRIVATE)!

Rock mentions going down to a movie set, because he wanted to act. Rock kept showing up, he was persistent. He wanted to be around Hollywood. Rock kept showing up, and getting kicked off the set. He visualized, and he kept persisting. He wanted a foot-in-the-door. On the seventh day, someone was sick and didn’t show up. That led to Rock getting a job as an extra. On one day they needed someone kissing a girl, and they grabbed Rock, because he was there. Rock was 23 years old, acting with Patrick Dempsey. Rock had an obsession.

Rock preaches the power of thinking about it, burning the bridges, DECIDE that you are going to create a life of magic. What is it that you want to create?

All the challenges are designed to make you become obsessed about being a whole life millionaire.

Rock was a broker in an office and prepaid his bills 6 months in advanced, and the owner walked in and offered him the business. Opportunities open up when you show up and give it everything you got.

Where are you showing up in your life? What are you obsessed about?

Rock goes off on a tangent about obsession and burning desire. Stop pussy-footing around!

    “Succeed or die!”

Rock mentions activating the dormant part of yourself that you didn’t know you had.

Obsess, and life will be more passionate. Your hope will change into certainty. It’s more fun to be obsessed than to live an average life.

    “Defy the odds.”

Others will be inspired and moved by your obsession, and people will want to co-create their desires.

Turn the burning desire into a reality.. and stoke it, feed it, obsess on it, like Elvis had music in every room in his house and his plane.

Rock flew in and trained with Burch Harmon to learn golf. He practiced puts from 3-feet, he wanted to master golf

"You will either fuel your desire, or fuel your fear. There’s no failure, only failure to engage yourself 100%”

In Mexico right now, Rock played tennis with a pro for an hour, swam a mile, made fitness a priority which leads to passion.

“Read chapter 2 of Think and Grow Rich”

People will get onboard when you start talking about it. They will think you’re an inspiration.

One day, Jim Carrey wrote a 10 million dollar cheque to himself that would be caused at a later date. Jim went up to people on streets of Hollywood saying "I’m the funniest man in the world," and he told people one day he will cash this cheque. He would make funny faces to people, act in the mirror, talk about it, obsess about it, fall down, get up and try again, and 2 weeks before the day that cheque was supposed to be cashed, he got a deal for Ace Ventura for $10 million.

Rock says doing the lessons with passion and purpose is the key, not just reading something in a book. You must absorb it. You must obsess with it. It’s about you committing on your own personal standards, and defying the odds, and creating the life you want, and dictating it to yourself.
