  • Hello and welcome to episode 79 of the Still Spinning Podcast. We hate to start off by breaking your heart BUT there will be NO podcast next week as Dan and Nicole are both traveling. So sorry! We will try to get something out to our Spinners so now is a good time to sign up. We kick things off with a story that affects us all - the FBI came out and said we should STOP using our phones to text. WTH did we do before texting?? They do offer some "safer" options. Tune in to hear what they are. Sorry, this might be a bit educational for you all. Is it ok to walk around your house barefoot?? NO is the short answer. One of the hosts does walk around without shoes in the house and one does. Think you know which is which?? The new speed record was broken in Iowa and it is SCARY. We discuss the driving habits of both Dan and Nicole and they share some speeding stories of their own. And finally, Chris Rock storms out of a private party where he was performing. Why, you may ask? Well we discuss the likely reason and share some thoughts/insight into our own performing and how we handle things like this. All of this an oh so much more! Want to become a Spinner or listen to some old episodes? Check out our website stillspinningpodcast.com for all of that PLUS you could purchase some merch for all your holiday gift giving needs.

  • Hello everyone and welcome to episode 78 of the Still Spinning Podcast. In today's episode we kick things off by talking about a Midwest winter common occurrence, lake effect snow. If you do not know that that is, you will learn about it (so sorry about that) and hear about some areas of the US that already have FOUR FEET of snow because of it. Some personal stories of a huge blizzard in Chicago and a drive across Michigan during a massive whiteout are part of the package today as well. Makes you feel cold! If you give a child (not your own) your phone to play with and it gets broken, who should pay to have it fixed? That is topic number 2 on today's episode. There is always more to the story and Dan and Nicole try to uncover some of the underlying issues in the original story but the verdict remains the same. Tune in to hear what it is. And finally, are you a weekly show watcher OR do you wait until all episodes have been released and then binge? Dan and Nicole discuss both options and which one they tend to follow. There is also a rant and discussion about spoilers in the headlines of news stories as well as a time frame for when spoilers should be allowed. All of this and so much more on episode 78! You can learn more about us and the podcast by visiting stillspinningpodcast.com.

  • Hello and welcome everyone to week 77 of the Still Spinning Podcast. Just an FYI, the next month or so is going to be a little bonkers with our schedules so keep your ears open for when/where our live stream(s) will be. We kick things off and spend most of this episode with a story about one of our hosts and a ride-share that gets into an accident. First off, Dan did not know about all the options you have when you get a ride share (like quiet, temperature control etc.) and as the story illustrates, you do not always get what you pay for. So what happens with a ride share collides with a taxi on the highway?! Guess you will need to tune in to hear the details. Dan's new dog is so great but there seems to be a language barrier. We hear all about it, how he discovered it and the training plan. This leads us down the path of police dogs and how they are trained, as well as how many languages they speak! It does not seem like a lot on paper but believe you me, it is a lot of content this week. Check out stillspinningpodcast.com to find out how to become a Spinner, buy some sweet merch (the holidays ARE coming) and listen to back episodes. Have a great week, everyone!

  • Hello everyone and welcome to episode #76 of the Still Spinning Podcast. Dan kicks us off with a rant about "today's" music and how much he hates it. While Nicole can relate, it does make us all wonder if everyone of a certain age has the same reaction to these kinds of things. Nicole gives a brief recap on her trip to New Orleans which includes not one but TWO stories about inappropriate touching. Dan is just happy she made it home safe, even though she did not go to the ONE place in the city he asked her to go to (it has to do with Elvis). There is a new movie coming out based on the Broadway hit Wicked, and there is merchandise galore. But Mattel is in some trouble for not fact-checking the movie's website address and instead releasing a line of dolls with a website to a porn production company's site. You can only imagine the uproar! That box has been recalled but is sure to be a collector's item. They are proposing a new building in Manhattan and there are some ISSUES. The building is called Big Bend and you have to see it to believe it. Dan has a first thought about the building that honestly could get him in a lot of trouble. Nicole, along with folks in the chat, thinks it looks like the most terrifying building EVER and would never even think to enter it. And last, in 2024 there are some jobs that are obsolete. Some you would expect, some Nicole and Dan had not really thought about. But they discuss them all! Thanks so much for joining us. Check out our website at stillspinningpodcast.com to find out more and please consider becoming a Spinner so you can get even more content!

  • Hello everyone and welcome to episode 75 of the Still Spinning Podcast. On tonight's episode we talk about the end of October which means it is Halloween season! Dan shares his decorating and plan for the big night and Nicole shares a list of the most popular candy. Folks in the chat share their favorite candy as well and we reminisce about the days of razor blades in apples. A few airline stories make the podcast this week. The first is a new process American Airlines is trying out to prevent people from boarding in a group they are not assigned to. Dan and Nicole are all for the literal bells and whistles of this new program. At an airport in New Zealand, there is a crack down on how long people can HUG before they are asked to take it to the parking lot. It is pretty funny. Finally, the holiday season is upon us, and that is the gift of giving, but a story about an ANTI gift list caught our attention, and we chatted about it. Oh and also Dan has a new dog! We meet Charlie and get some real good pets. Thanks so much for checking us out. You can learn more at our website stillspinningpodcast.com. Next week's show is TBD as Nicole will be out of town, so watch our Facebook page to find out when we will be back on the air for the regular episode. Spinners will be getting some bonus content later this week.

  • Episode 72: "Deodorant Drama, Redbox Woes, and Wedding Whoops" - Still Spinning Podcast with Dan and Nicole (Editors note: Nicole was "too tired" to write the summary for this week so she pawned it off on Dan. Dan knows Nicole is terrified of AI, so he used AI to write this summary.) This week on the "Still Spinning Podcast," hosts Dan and Nicole kick things off with a light-hearted jab at Dan for single-handedly canceling their much-loved bonus spin segment. What went wrong? Only Dan knows, but he's not telling! The episode takes an unexpected turn when Nicole recounts her bizarre discovery at Target: clearance deodorant with an aroma so unique, it's practically daring you to wear it. What scent could possibly be the last thing you'd want near your armpits? Tune in to discover this olfactory oddity! Next, they dive into the surprising financial fallout of Redbox's bankruptcy. How much is this affecting the small businesses and shop owners who host these iconic DVD rental machines? Dan and Nicole break it down, exploring the ripple effects on local economies. Wrapping up, they share a story that's sure to resonate with anyone who's ever received a wedding invitation. Imagine thinking you're attending the ceremony only to realize you're just there for the party. A couple's mishap with invitation clarity provides a lesson in wedding etiquette and expectations. Additional Notes:For more in-depth stories, behind-the-scenes content, or to join the "Spinner" community, visit stillspinningpodcast.com.Stay tuned for next week's episode where Dan promises to make up for his bonus spin blunder, plus more surprising tales and discussions that keep you spinning with laughter and intrigue. • Welcome to episode 73 of the Still Spinning Podcast. Nicole was at a Kevin Smith convention last weekend and had a great time! Highly recommend his new flick, The 4:30 Movie, especially if you are a kid of the 80's. Bath and Body Works is in some trouble for releasing a new winter holiday candle with some questionable design work. It was brought to their attention that it looked like a certain racist organization's outfit, and Nicole agreed; it really does. Dan did not see it at first, he saw paper aliens, but when you look at it in a certain size or location... well, it is questionable. It is also just an ugly design, no matter how you look at it. Dan cannot believe that the new SpaceX launch (or more importantly, the landing) is not a bigger news story. When he talked about it on the air, Nicole was not that interested or impressed. But he sent her a link to the video after and even she has to admit, it is pretty impressive. The topic turned to who would travel to Mars and one of them would, one would not. Guess which one?! Lisa Marie Presley released a posthumous book, which has some very interesting information. The most shocking?? She kept her dead son's body in her house, on dry ice, for TWO MONTHS after he died. WTAF. There is also a weird story about some tattoo work, it really is a story to check out. Spooky season is here and Nicole and Dan chat about some movies that are spooky and ones with big twists that they wish they could see again for the first time. Tune into this week's episode for all of this and more! Check out our website at stillspinningpodcast.com for more information on becoming a sponsor (spinner), scoring some merch or to listen to episodes 1-72. Have a great week everyone!

  • Welcome to episode 72 of the Still Spinning Podcast. We kick things off by talking about Dan's cat, who has turned into Houdini. He is an escape artist but a real homebody as well. Dan created a pretty ingenious way to alert himself if/when it happens. Dating stories abound and Nicole and Dan are both so happy to be "off the market." A woman went viral for sharing her shortest date in history story and why the date decided to end it after two minutes. Warning, it is not a very nice reason. This leads to Dan proposing a new kind of dating site that would be a huge success, no doubt about it. Our water can be HACKED and has been. Honestly, what is the world coming to. We chat about what happened, what it could mean and the fact that Charmin has changed their perforation and it has really riled up both of our hosts. Reading this summary you are probably thinking how did this take up 40 minutes and I would tell you but what would be the fun in that?! You have to check it out to find out. Thanks for listening! You can learn more about the podcast, sponsorship and merch by visiting our website at stillspinningpodcast.com. Thanks and we will see you next week!

  • Hello and welcome to episode 71 of the Still Spinning Podcast. Summer is winding down but we are loving the weather over here in the Midwest. Dan and Nicole chat about weather and Halloween, turns out one of them really used to go all out for Halloween. Why did it stop? Tune in to find out.

A whole lot of celebs died the week before we recorded this episode (or more have died since) and we chat about those folks and the loss. There is one in particular, a "sports guy," whom Dan gives Nicole some grief over, and then they play a little People's Court to see how Nicole passes judgment on him.

Diddy has been IN THE NEWS. We chat a bit, on a lighthearted note, about Diddy and all his lube. Then things turn a bit more serious as obviously there are a lot of crimes and victims in this situation, and in others like it.

To bring some levity back to the show this week, we talk about Dan and his terrible taste in steak temperatures. It came up because of a recent excursion he took to a steak house. We chat all things red meat and cooking temps.

All of this and seriously, so much more on this episode of the Still Spinning Podcast. Visit our website for more information on becoming a Spinner, on merch and to catch up on episodes you may have missed. At the very least, please subscribe!!

  • Hello and welcome to episode 70 of the Still Spinning Podcast! Just for fun, Nicole gets Dan all riled up about Pumpkin Spice Lattes and Starbucks in the fall. WORTH IT. Gen Z is apparently using more sick days that other generations and there are a few reasons for it. Dan guesses what they are and he is not too far off. But some of the reasons are Sus (that is slang for suspect). It also leads into a discussion on Gen X and how we NEVER call in sick. Journey, the band, had some issues with a live performance recently and it led to the singer going to social media to have folks vote on if he should quit or not. What the actual F?? Dan has some theories as does the chat. Tune in to hear some of them. There is a zoo in China that has been painting DOGS to look like PANDAS and they got found out. This story made Nicole laugh quite a lot, it is pretty unbelievable. And finally, a small British child has been denied a passport and you will not even believe the reason. Let's just say, the force is NOT strong with this one. We discuss baby names and parental responsibility. Thanks so much for tuning in! Become a Spinner, buy some merch or check out back episodes all on our website - stillspinningpodcast.com. See you next week!

  • Welcome to episode #69 (yep, we said it)! Dan has a new game obsession and it involves solving crimes. He has turned his kitchen into an evidence/crime charting room and Nicole has to admit, it sounds like a lot of fun! Nicole witnessed a disturbing customer service interaction over the weekend and shares the story and her reaction. Dan chimes in about his wife's worry about him getting involved in altercations he sees happening in the world. Food sharing—is this just because we are getting old? Do we now want to share meals with our spouses? Also, it is a new trend to see the calories on the menu, and what a shock it is. Dan likes watching videos of people traveling around on different types of transit. He saw a video recently that really turned him off for a particular mode of transportation, can you guess what it is? An unruly passenger in Australia was recently ordered to reimburse the airline for gas money and Dan and Nicole are all for it. They talk about some other fines folks on airlines have incurred and Dan shares some inside information on kicking people off planes. All of this and oh so much more on episode 69 (hehehe) of the Still Spinning Podcast. Check out our website at stillspinningpodcast.com.

  • Welcome to episode 68 of the Still Spinning Podcast. This was recorded much later than usual, at 9 PM, so get ready for some loosy-goosey late night fun. Schools are back in session and that means that the "banned" items are hitting some news stories. There is a Wisconsin school that just banned cell phones, something that is getting pretty common, but what other things are being banned? Some you will guess, some you will not. Tune in to hear the chatter. Should adults share a hotel room... ever? Dan was asked by a comedy booker to share a room with someone he barely knew. Nicole just got back from a weekend with family and did share a room. They chat about the pros and cons of this kind of set up. Finally, a woman in Maine went viral for the way she wrote her mother's obituary. Dan and Nicole have different views on it, so take a listen and see who you side with. There is a moral to this story: Be careful how you treat people when you are alive, especially if they have any say in what is said about you publicly when you are dead. All of this and so much more on today's episode. Check out our website, stillspinningpodcast.com, to find out how you can become a Spinner, catch up on old episodes and buy some merch. See you next week!

  • Hello everyone and welcome to episode 67 of the Still Spinning Podcast. Can you believe it is SEPTEMBER?! We cannot. We also cannot believe how delicious the new Nicole and Dan's Head Spinning Hot Sauce is! And if you are a Spinner, you have your very own bottle coming in the mail this week. If you are NOT a Spinner but would like to get your hands on a bottle, we have a very limited quantity for sale. Just email [email protected] and express your interest. We kick things off tonight by talking about a poor soul who died at their desk at a big, corporate office, and was not discovered for FOUR DAYS. Talk about a total nightmare. Nicole shares this fear as well as one that involves eating while home alone. Dan also has a place he would hate to die. Lots of chatter about a very serious topic but do not worry, we add the levity it needs. We then move on to talking about a VERY bad child who broke a VERY old artifact in a museum and how the museum is handling it. And how we would handle it. And who we blame. Which is a nice segue into a new warning from the U.S. Surgeon General about how bad parenting is for your health. Duh. And finally, Dan shares a video with us all about a minor league baseball team's new bat DOG and how their first outing on the field went. We also hear about Dan's past as a bat boy and how serious he took this role. Maybe he still does. Either way, this video is hilarious. All of this and so much more on the 67th episode. Check out our website stillspinningpodcast.com for more information on becoming a Spinner, back episodes of the podcast and how you can buy some sweet swag. Thanks for listening/watching!

  • Hello everyone and welcome to episode 66 of the Still Spinning Podcast. Dan has a fun gift he is sending to our Spinners this week so if you are not one of them, now is the time to sign up! Go to our website, stillspinningpodcast.com, to get more details. It is hot all over the US right now, and Nicole's off-topic comment reveals a weird product Dan has in his possession. Tourism is taking a hit all over the world, for many reasons. There was an article published last week that talked about why this is happening and Nicole and Dan chat about tourism, tourists and a lot of the negativity that is happening in the world around it. This leads us into an article Dan found around the 10 "most fun" states and the 10 "least fun" states. Were there any surprises? Tune in to find out. Apple Air Tags are changing the world! One woman used an air tag to track down mail thieves and her plan worked! Two people were arrested. Dan has some insight into air tags and how folks are using them to stop crimes, it is pretty interesting. But also creates some issues. All of this and even more on this week's episode!

  • Welcome to episode 65 of the Still Spinning Podcast. Summer is winding down, and the weather is getting nicer, but Dan and Nicole still seem up in arms about something. First on the list is Grammar Nerd Dan and the use of the 's. Or just the '. It depends on the situation. This story kicks off because of the press, their use of the possessive tense, and the last name, Harris. The chat chimes in and Dan will hear nothing of it. He also shares some other recent arguments he has gotten into online, and both he and Nicole really lean into being old and start blaming the younger generation for pretty much all the world's problems. There is a new term out there for parents: Venmo Mom. This is a person who does not want to volunteer to do any of the things at the kid's school but is happy to Venmo some cash to help. Nicole is all for this, but Dan thinks it is "bad parenting." Tune in to hear the arguments. Wedding season is almost over, but we get another story about new wedding "trends." The story has two. First, there is the idea of the non-invite, where family and friends are sent a card saying they are NOT invited to the wedding. Second, there is texting those who are with their "jobs" for the day, including setting up and tearing down the reception. You know Dan and Nicole have some thoughts on both. Finally, the kids do something right. Generation Z has been using some hilarious and appropriate out-of-office messages. This kicks off a discussion on whether to use an OOO or not. Also, I just realized that Dan probably does not even know Nicole does not put two spaces behind every period in these recaps. You can find out more about us, how to become a Spinner, and some merch by visiting stillspinningpodcast.com. Thanks for checking us out and we will see you next week!

  • Welcome to week 64 of the Still Spinning Podcast. Dan starts this week's episode off with a bang, inserting some video from Nicole's show (that she does with her husband Paul) last week into the intro. Nicole was NOT expecting it and it is a pretty funny video and exchange. The Olympics just ended and Dan did not watch a single moment, something Nicole still finds shocking. But Nicole gives a recap, they discuss why Dan is not a fan and also what new sports we have to look forward to in LA for the next summer games. There is also quite a bit of talk about a certain pole valuter's.... pole. Another event that just ended was the Wisconsin State Fair, Nicole's favorite thing. She recaps the fair's highs and lows, talks about the new circus, and explains how she created a Fair Guide for some people visiting Milwaukee for the first time. In other news, Des Moines has a real backyard chicken problem on their hands. There is a law saying you can have backyard chickens in the city but apparently there are some issues and they want to change the law. Currently you can have THIRTY CHICKENS in your city backyard, can you even imagine?? All of this and so much more on this week's episode. Please remember to subscribe on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram or even X and visit our website (stillspinningpodcast.com) and learn about becoming a Spinner. We will see you next week!

  • Hello everyone and welcome to episode 63 of the Still Spinning Podcast! A reminder, we will be OFF next week, no regular episode. BUT the Spinners will get some bonus content so now is a good time to sign up.

Southwest Airlines has announced they are doing away with their seating policy, which allows you to pick your own. This kicks us off on a tangent about Southwest, what we love and hate about them, and a cautionary take from Dan about flying Southwest out of Vegas.

The CEO of Chipotle is making news for insisting their "heaping portions" are still there, despite what some of the TikTok posters have been putting on their feeds. He has come out before with some weird ways to up your scoops and we talk about it. Dan also lays out the 2 worst things of going to a Chipotle or Qdoba and that leads Nicole and Dan down a path about parents and children and a large wooden spoon.

And finally, George Lopez walked off stage during his set last week because of hecklers. Dan, as a professional comedian, has some strong opinions on why he did and hecklers in general.

All of this and SO MUCH MORE on this week's episode. Check out our website at Still Spinning Podcast to find out how to become a Spinner and get that sweet bonus content. See you in 2 weeks!

  • Hello everyone and welcome to episode 62 of the Still Spinning Podcast. This week we really focused on topics that take us all away from the heavy news that is dominating the other news sources. We kick things off talking about Dan's new life plan which is to live in an RV half the time and stay at people's houses pet sitting for the rest of the time. We talk about this plan fairly in-depth. Apparently, there is a website you can become a member of that allows you to stay, sometimes for extended periods of time, in someone's house to take care of their pets. In this segment Dan accidentally let it slip that he recently got some new item for his cat but would not share what it was. This comes back later. And it is WORTH IT. No one should be surprised to hear that an influencer had a tragic fall recently while making an Instagram video. This leads us down a path of people being absolutely unaware of their surroundings and living through their phones. Put that damn phone down and watch the actual concert!! Netflix just announced they are getting rid of their basic (most affordable) option. This kicks off a whole discussion on the downfall of cable, streaming services and what our lives have become. And finally, Nicole convinces Dan to tell the story of what he got for the cat and it made her laugh SO DAMN HARD. Worth checking out. Thanks for listening! Visit our website at stillspinningpodcast.com to find out more about us, back episodes, MERCH and most importantly, how YOU can become a Spinner.

  • Hello and welcome to the 61st episode of the Still Spinning Podcast. The weather has been a little nutty here in the Midwest so we kick things off by Dan talking a bit about what has been happening and the inclement weather headed towards both Dan and Nicole as the taping was happening. For those who do not know, Dan loves meteorology and has the Dan Deibert Command Center all fixed up to monitor the weather. It was a rough week for Gen X. We lost Shannan Doherty, Dr. Ruth and Richard Simmons so we discuss the impact a few of those people had on us specifically. Dan goes into his issues with Dr. Ruth and we honor their memory. Can we all agree not to shoot people, even when we do not agree? That is our next topic. We do not get political on this show, that is not something we are interested in doing, but we do need to address the fact no one should be shooting anyone. Now on to the fun stuff! McDonald's Coke/Diet Coke is superior and anyone will tell you that. They have done some scientific studies as to WHY and there are 5 main reasons. Dan thinks he knows 3, is he right?? Tune in to find out what they are, how many Dan knew and all about his addiction to the DC. Finally, Target will no longer be taking your checks! We discuss writing checks in all its glory. All of this and SO MUCH MORE! Thanks so much for checking out our website at stillspinningpodcast.com. See you next week.

  • Welcome to episode 60 of the Still Spinning Podcast. Dan is on-site at a job, so he is out of his normal studio space and very unhappy with his hair.

The first topic we tackle tonight is a positive initiative coming out of California. They are working towards making a financial understanding class mandatory for their high schools. While Dan and Nicole agree this is a fabulous idea, of course SOMETHING about it has to piss us off, it is who we are. First off, Dan cannot believe that California, of all places, is enacting this as they have issues balancing their own budgets. This whole topic goes down a pretty deep rabbit hole that you have to hear to believe.

The EU has a new mandate for cars, and it is not good for anyone. This leads us into a discussion about Google Maps versus Apple Maps, how we are always being tracked, and a bit about how AI will ruin everything. It is a real pick-me-up segment.

At this point we are running long so I (Nicole) let Dan pick the final topic, thinking there is no way he could make a feel good story about meeting your neighbors into something to be mad about. BUT HE DID! He never backs down from a challenge.
