When Covid19 started in March 2020, my first thought was: "not again..." My mind was immediately going back to 2008, when we lost about 50% of revenue and 70% of our employees.
Luckily I was able to force myself to stay clear and calm for a few minutes. I started to analyse the situation: What is happening now? What options do I have? And what is a crisis anyways?
You want to know what I came up with? Curios to learn what I did different this time as an experienced crises-survivor than in past crises? In this episode I give then answer to those question and tell you what I learned in the past that I could apply this time.

When we have a problem we intuitively look at that problem. I believe this is a mistake and that we have to learn to act counterintuitively.
Einstein once said, that „we cannot solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them“. I believe this contains a very important message: the solution is on a different level than the problem.
I would add: the solution is made of different elements than the problem. Thus the solution is (more than we believe) independent and detached from the problem.
In this episode I give some examples and explain what I mean. I give what effects this should have on our behaviour and what we can immediately start doing in order to work on solutions instead of working on problem.

I have started my first business whilst still in school at the age of 18. Since then - with a little exception - I have always been self-employed resp. been active as an entrepreneur. And I think I have not missed even one mistake.
However, looking at business and entrepreneurship now, there are some skills and things that are just nice to have. Others are mandatory. I believe you can never successfully run a business without those. I call them the four pillars, embedded in the personality of the entrepreneur.
In this episode I define what those pillars are and why the appear crucial to me.

Some months ago I was in London with a group of people. One morning we went to a park and jumped into a cold pond to take a swim. Applying cold to your body along with some breathing exercises is part of the Wim Hof method.
Chris Harrington, who suffered of severe depressions for 10 years, used this method and the key findings of Mo Gawdat, to overcome his depressions. Chris found that the combination of those two helped him more than drungs, meditation and yoga to really change his state.

When my daughter was young, the doctors told us she might never even be able to sit. Driven by ambition and desperation at the same time, I not only tried many therapies school medicine would suggest. I also turned to alternative healing methods (of which I have introduced some in this podcast already)..
I remember a few healers I visited with my daughter. After some of the treatments my daughter has made some great progress and just after a few visits we could tell a difference in behaviour, learning or health.
Annette Mueller is not only a healer. She is probably the most famous healer in Germany, and she even teaches healing skills so that other people are empowered to heal, too.. Thank you for the insights, Annette Müller!

A few years ago I was introduced to "Conductive Education" - a special form of therapy (I thought) for children with disabilities, which was developd by Andras Petö about 70 years ago. We started the programm wiith my daugther and found out that this way of working with her has brought great progress in her every day skills and established a status - together with other therapies - that doctors called "not possible" when she was a few years younger.
In thise episode I talk to Laszlo Szögeczki who is a former primary school teacher and now works as a conductive trainer. Laszlo is also member of the board of the European Conductive Education Association.and author of a book on "Conductive Education".
He explains why conductive eduction is a philosophy rather than a therapy, why it works for everyone and he makes clear that the principles are timeless. And I frankly admit that I learned a lot about Conductive Education even though my daugther has been doing this for almost six years now.
If you are interested in details on Conductive Education, we recommed Laszlo's book "Person-focused Rehabilitation: Exploring the Psychosocial Field of Conductive Education" (https://www.amazon.de/Person-focused-Rehabilitation-Exploring-Psychosocial-Conductive/dp/1521444927)

Sometimes relationships don´t come to a good end. With a child - every parent will confirm this - the whole relationship changes and quite often also makes it harder - even if the child was supposed to be the high-point of the relation. And with handicapped kids it is ever harder: they are a relationship killer, because they confront you with something you neither expected nor got prepared for. And frankly speaking never wished for.
Sam and Brandi Lewis, who have 10 kids from former marriages, came together after seperating from their former spouses. They have experienced that a divorce is not only painful, but also quite oftens damages the self-esteem of the people involved. Plus it is heard to keep dignity after divorce and not to feel shame about it.
In this episode they share their experience, talk about the personal share of the break-up, their learnings and much more.

We all - at least most of us - have doubts and occasionally some anxiety. A different talk are severe panic attacks. It seems they hit you right out of nowhere. And if this is new for you, and if you are not prepared, it is a real scary thing.
Oliver Coqui has experienced all this. He shares his experience and advises what to do, how to prepare and how you can get over it. He also talks about what it taught him and how he changed as a person.

When I was 20 years old I was serving an apprenticeship with a large German company. One of my bosses occasionally sat in his office with me and gave me his perspective on business and did not just - as many others - tell me what to do. He was actually (if on purpose or not) giving me valuable lessons.
What he said about problems and solutions was actually the first time that someone clearly addressed his expectations to me. Before,. I had only guessed what the expectations were. No one has ever clearly pointed this out (or at least I did not understand it).
It did not only leave a long-lasting impression on me, I still think about this quite often: the focus on the solution (and what this means in regards of responsibility).

Some days ago I posted one of my learnings on facebook. I realized that ALL children will leave home someday. And not because they have to, but because they want to. Even kids with handicap want to leave someday.
Our job as parents is to prepare everything and everybody (and that includes us) for this point in time. But what is most important and how do you do this?
Lori Ciaccio is an expert in this field. She addresses this topic in her daily work. In this episode of "The Superdad Entrepreneur"-podcast she gives valuable advice for everybody who struggles with that question.

If you are in pain or have a health problem, what do you do? Do you go to a doctor or take a pill? I suppose this is what people usually do. But how about if you were told that this is actually not needed? That you could heal yourself?
I know it sounds strange in the beginning. But we all know that placebos work and that - if you manage to master your mind and to control your thoughts - at least pain is something you can control. And if you throw in some quantum physics and scientific research from meditation, things get even more miraculous. Because newest data (and Asian monks) show the the mind can be stronger than the body - and actually heal itself.
Mikael Luman has done this with his own body. After a crazy path into self destruction, including drugs and crime, he not only recovered but discovered the secret of self-healing. I am very thankful he shares his experience in this episode of "The Superdad Entrepreneur".
