We’re baaaack! After a month long layoff, the boys are back and catching up on all of the reasons that led to the extended break. As we all know, life can get busy and sometimes it’s hard to do all the things we love.
We chat about what’s going on in life, training, and upcoming races. We’ve got more episodes on the way! Cheers to no more extended layoffs!

This week’s episode gets started with a quick training update from the guys, including a couple of things from the week that Grey had not told coach Kevin about.
The conversation then goes to a recap of their trip to Baltimore for the Believe In The Run HQ launch party. For it being such a short trip, there were a few really good stories (like how Kevin tried to get us robbed and/or murdered) from the trip and memories made. We got to meet some super awesome people, learned a lot, and had a kick ass time.

Joe Ovies, from The OG on 99.9 The Fan in Raleigh, joins the guys for an in person chat! They cover Joe’s somewhat new relationship with running and some fun stories surrounding his path into the sport and the races he’s run.
As with all of our running parent guests, we talk about how Joe balances his daily radio show, various other projects, and training with family life. Joe shares his thoughts on introducing kids to sports, how much to push them, and specialization in any one sport.
Finally, no conversation with Joe is complete without us nerding out over video games and consoles.
This is a long one, perfect for long runs or drives!

After a little break for the week after Memorial Day, the guys catch up on everything that has been going on both as dads and athletes, including Grey surviving a weekend alone with the kids and Kevin reminds us how crazy of a month May was.
The conversation turns to some upcoming events, including a local race named Sir Walter Miler and Grey mentions running on of their Pop Up Miles in the coming weeks...and then it’s back to more parenting talk with a chat about age differences in our kids and what we’re looking forward to as they get a little older.
Finally, both guys have started training programs as they build towards the sprint triathlon in the fall and Kevin for the Patagonian in December. Grey’s swimming has vastly improved and Kevin is well on his way to rebuilding fitness. The show wraps with the guys sharing some of their favorite podcasts to listen to and some notes about upcoming shows.

Kevin’s juice cleanse has come to an end and we get to hear about his experience during the three days, particularly the second and third days. Moving on, Grey learns that his swim breathing technique, or lack thereof, hasn’t exactly been the most efficient thing in the world and proceeds to give Kevin a hard time for it.
After more training updates from Grey, especially the events surrounding his most recent swim session, the guys talk about how they’ve been handling the delicate balance of a super busy family life, professional life, training and hobbies.
Finally, the guys chat about some recent races and the unfortunate passing of 21 Ultra marathoners in China.
***Small editor's note due to a technicality. As of this recording, our producer has only ridden the Velocicoaster (the newest rollercoaster at Islands of Adventure in Universal's Orlando Resort) a total of 23 times. However, at the rate he's going, it won't be long before he surpasses the 147 mark mentioned at the end of the show. :)

On this week's show, the guys power through some fatigue after a busy week of training, birthdays, and parties! After catching up on Grey’s training for the week, the guys delve into some nutrition. Kevin is the driver of the struggle bus, due to being in the middle of a rough three day juice cleanse, and Grey has questions surrounding Kevin’s decision to do so. Also, they chat a little about Kevin’s new bike (more like Grey lusts after it) and various upcoming events.
This one is a little shorter than normal, but we hope you enjoy!

It’s finally happened! Grey has crossed over to the dark side and signed up for his first triathlon. Join in as the guys talk about the chain of events that led to Grey buying a bike and registering for the race, getting fitted for his bike, some humbling moments that have already happened in training and some of the goals that lay ahead. The guys also discuss why that specific race was chosen (surprise, they’re both racing in it!) As an additional bonus, Kevin will be Grey’s coach.
We had a lot of fun with this one and hope you enjoy hearing the “joys” of getting started in the sport of triathlon.

This is a special one. Kevin and Grey are joined by their high school coach and longtime influence, the NC track and cross country coaching legend. As much as the guys try to keep this from being a total walk down memory lane, it’s impossible to avoid. Once we do stay on track, Coach Autry discusses building a program, literally from scratch, and what it takes to go from start up to dominating.
The conversation then transitions to Coach Autry stepping away from the powerhouse that he built to embark on the creation of an AAU program to introduce the sport to kids.
This is a long one, so lace up your shoes, throw in some headphones and enjoy this conversation with someone that played a huge part in our lives.

Thomas Neuberger, co-founder of Big Run Media and Believe in the Run, joins the show this week. Our chat with Thomas begins with him sharing his story of when and why he started running, as well as the mental and physical benefits he’s gained from the sport. We then transition to the creation of Believe in the Run which led to the formation of the marketing arm of the company, Big Run Media.
Grey offers Thomas a softball question about his coolest moment since starting Believe in the Run/Big Run Media, of course asking about his interview with arguably the best runner of all time...which leads to Grey and Kevin “fan girling” hard over the story.
Finally, Thomas shares some words of wisdom for us as we begin this new venture of the podcast and other possible endeavors in the running world.
