In this episode, I am joined by Dr. Greg Wells. Greg is a scientist and performance physiologist and has dedicated his career to exploring and researching human limits and making that science understandable and actionable. He served as a tenured Associate Professor of Kinesiology at the University of Toronto and is currently a scientist in Translational Medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children, where his research is focused on improving outcomes in children with chronic diseases via physical activity. As part of his academic life, he published over 60 papers in scientific journals and raised over $1 million for research. He also worked as the Director of Sport Science for the Canadian Sport Centre where he acted as a physiologist for more than 200 international-level athletes.
In this episode, We talk about his newest book, Power House, a book that shows you easy ways to boost your energy, fight inflammation and optimize your health—cell by cell.

It was my distinct honor to host Dr. Lisa Feldman Barrett (@LFeldmanBarrett) for this fascinating discussion on neuroscience, learning, and what we now know about the brain.
Lisa Feldman Barrett, PhD, is among the top one percent most cited scientists in the world for her revolutionary research in psychology and neuroscience. She is a University Distinguished Professor of Psychology at Northeastern University. She also holds appointments at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, where she is Chief Science Officer for the Center for Law, Brain & Behavior.
In addition to the books Seven and a Half Lessons About the Brain and How Emotions are Made, Dr. Barrett has published over 260 peer-reviewed, scientific papers appearing in Science, Nature Neuroscience, and other top journals in psychology and cognitive neuroscience, as well as six academic volumes published by Guilford Press. She has also given a popular TED talk with over 6.5 million views.
Dr. Barrett received a National Institutes of Health Director’s Pioneer Award for her revolutionary research on emotion in the brain. These highly competitive, multimillion dollar awards are given to scientists of exceptional creativity who are expected to transform biomedical and behavioral research. She also received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2019, the APS Mentor Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2018, and the APA Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award in Psychology in 2021.
Among her many accomplishments, Dr. Barrett has testified before Congress, presented her research to the FBI, consulted to the National Cancer Institute, appeared on Through The Wormhole with Morgan Freeman and The Today Show with Maria Shriver, and been a featured guest on public television and podcast and radio programs worldwide. She is also an elected fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences and the Royal Society of Canada.

Dan Abrahams is a sport psychologist working alongside individuals, teams, coaches and organisations globally. He is known for his passion to de-mystify sport psychology and for creating simple to use performance techniques. He is the author of four best-selling sport psychology books and is the founder of both the Dan Abrahams Soccer Academy and The Sport Psych Show podcast. A former professional golfer and PGA qualified, Dan has a First Class Honours degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Sport Psychology. Dr. Stewart Vella is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at UOW, a Movember Foundation Men's Health Partner, and a recent National Heart Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellow.
Dr. Vella is a developmental sport psychologist with specific expertise in the relationships between sport participation and multiple indicators of health during childhood and adolescence. Using large and nationally representative datasets he has linked participation in organised sports during childhood and adolescence with increased levels of physical activity, enhanced social and emotional functioning, enhanced health-related quality of life, personality change, and protection against mental health problems.
He is currently leading a national, multi-institution, multi-component, community-based project to promote mental health, prevent mental health problems, and target early intervention using organised sporting clubs. He has initiated and is actively leading research collaborations with the Australian Sports Commission, Cricket Australia, the Australian Football League (AFL), Football Federation Australia, Basketball Australia, Swimming Australia, Tennis Australia, the Black Dog Institute, the Australian Drug Foundation. Dr Vella has over $2.5 million in competitive grant funding as the lead researcher.
