  • NewsWest for Sunday 8th December 2019 is the History of Amateur Radio edition and we have some interesting stories on the early days of Amateur Radio in Western Australia, including an account of the first QSO between the USA and VK6 on 160 metres.

There’s news from the Radio Amateur Society of Australia, and Ed DD5LP / VK2JI talks about his exploits with propagation between Europe and Australasia, even in this low portion of the sunspot cycle.

Roy brings us helpline, and I take another look over the Amateur Radio back fence, which has been a bit busy this week.

  • This promotes VK6 Amateur Radio News with NewsWest, theWestern Australian Amateur Radio news programme for Sunday first of December2019. This is the club Focus edition of NewsWest.  In this programme, wegive time to clubs to promote themselves and their activities.

Welcome to December.  In the Church Calendartoday is Advent Sunday, and to oversimplify its meaning, Advent is thecountdown to Christmas.  Last Sunday was the traditional day to make theChristmas pudding. I started preparing the ingredients on Sunday, however, I didn't complete the task until Tuesday. The Christmas pudding is hanging there, waiting to do its thing in a few weeks.

In this week’s club focus, we have news fromseveral clubs for you, including a reminder from Clive about the Radio AmateurOld Timer’s Club broadcast tomorrow, and a note from Chris of the RASA.

We bring you an update on Barry VK6WF/VK2WB’s situation following the total loss of his propertyin recent fires in New South Wales. Dan tells us about a recent experience onten metres.

We’ve got Club Focus theseries from yours truly, and I’m discussing arrangements clubs might care tothink about for the Christmas New Year break and of course, we have Roy’sHelpline.
