In late November, more than 1,000 letter carrier activists representing branches across the United States gathered in New Orleans to take part in NALC’s 2023 National Conference. On this week's episode, President Renfroe shares some of the major highlights from the Rap Session. These important announcements and updates included topics such as contract negotiations, crimes against carriers, heat safety, improving representation, legislation and politics, and new initiatives. To allow adequate time to discuss some of these topics in-depth, this recap has been divided into two parts. Be sure to tune in next week for the second half of this discussion! President Brian Renfroe and Assistant to the President for Workers' Compensation Coby Jones discuss how NALC works to ensure that letter carriers who are injured on the job receive the benefits they are entitled to under the law by helping members navigate the claims process and the Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP). NALC members make up nearly a third of all injured federal workers, and it is important to stay informed about what to do if you or your co-workers suffer an injury while working. Check out this week's episode to learn about our structure of representation, the process of reporting an injury and filing a claim and other vitally important information about workers' compensation.
