In this episode, Angelo Corsaro (CEO and CTO of ZettaScale) and Gabriele Baldone (Zetta Platform's Architect at ZettaScale) discuss the advantages Zetta brings to vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) communication, in the automotive industry. Traditionally, MQTT has been used for V2X communication, but it presents challenges like scalability and congestion control induced by TCP/IP.
With the Zetta Platform, these problems can be solved effortlessly. The platform offers support for MQTT bridges, allowing seamless communication between Zenoh and MQTT. This means that even if a car loses connectivity, telemetry data can still be collected and stored locally. This flexibility and scalability make Zenoh and Zetta ideal for sharing information among vehicles in close proximity.
As Gabriele Baldoni says in this podcast episode, Zetta is the magic wand that enables the seamless management, deployment, and configuration of Zenoh applications, and not only, across the cloud. It allows the configuration of bridges to MQTT, DDS, and even ROS 2. This versatility makes Zetta a powerful solution for a wide range of applications.

At ZettaScale, we're proud to be part of the open source community. We are the major contributors of Eclipse Zenoh and Eclipse Cyclone DDS and have been part of the Eclipse family since 2018. Angelo Corsaro, our CEO & CTO, talked about this during the first part of today's episode.

Frédéric shares more information on the IoT and Edge groups of the Eclipse Foundation, their values, how to start as a contributor for open source technology, and the promising Eclipse projects for robotics.
He said: "(...) there's a need for precision in what you do with predictable latency. So it's much easier to build solutions like that when all the components are open source. If you have those commercial black boxes, then sometimes is really hard to debug or optimise for your specific case. This is why open source is so important, in particular in robotics."
