  • As we switch to fortnightly publication, the serious but necessary conversation continues.

In today’s episode of The Pan-African Experience I spoke to Dr Maurice Amutabi about his book; The NGO Factor in Africa: The case of Arrested Development in Kenya. While acknowledging the positive roles of NGOs (Non-Governmental Organisations) in Africa, Dr Amutabi’s research found that NGOs’ activities also undermine development efforts.

Dr Amutabi is a professor of African History at the Technical University of Kenya. He holds a PhD in African History from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, and has written in several journals around the world.

I am grateful and honoured to have Dr Amutabi on the podcast.

  • One of the purposes of this podcast is to bridge the gap between Africa and the diaspora, with regards to exchange of ideas that are geared towards youth empowerment.

I am particularly interested in the education sector across Africa, and how we can centre the curriculum on Afrocentrism.

It gives me great hope to speak to young people across Africa, who are making positive impacts both on the grassroot and national level.

In today’s episode of The Pan-African Experience, I was joined by Mr Leo .E. Tiah to discuss the 5th Annual Education and Youth Leadership Conference in Liberia (AYEAL 2022).

Mr Tiah is a youth advocate and the Executive Director of Youth Network for Positive Change, a grassroot movement in Liberia and the organiser of the AYEAL 2022 Conference.

The conference is a platform that raises youth voices and promotes issues around peace building, gender equality, quality education, good health, good governance, and human rights.

  • The full episode of my discussion with Dr Brian Hooker, and (apparently) our most controversial episode till date, is here.

Our difficult, but  necessary, conversations on The Pan-African Experience Podcast continues  - following all journalism principles and practices.

Eight years after the publication of Dr Brian Hooker, Ph.D., P.E.’s  paper: Measles-mumps-rubella vaccination timing and autism among young  African American boys: a reanalysis of CDC data, and 6 years after the  documentary, Vaxxed, we revisited the claims made by both projects.

Dr  Hooker’s research found that if MMR vaccine is administered to African  American children, specifically the boys, they are three times more  likely to develop autism.

Dr Hooker’s research was performed with  data he obtained from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention  (CDC), through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The CDC disputed this research at the time of its publication.

In this week’s episode of The Pan-African Experience, I had a discussion with Dr Hooker about this research.

The  purpose of this conversation was to find out if Dr Hooker still stands  by his research and whether the CDC has been able to review/re-analyse  their data, to consider the race element, following Dr Hooker’s  research.

The Pan-African Experience Podcast contacted  CDC/affiliates twice for a comment with regards to the claims made in  this episode, but they have chosen not to respond.

I am grateful and honoured to have Dr Hooker on the podcast.

  • Everything you know about most religious practices in Islam is probably false.

The  wearing of burqa or hijab, the growing of beards, the chopping of hands  in Sharia law and the Hajj (Mecca pilgrimage) – these are  misrepresentation and misinterpretation of Islam at best, and blatant  indoctrination at worst.

    Yes, I said it!

Well, Mr Paigham Mustafa said it in our conversation on today’s episode of The Pan-African Experience podcast.

Mr  Mustafa is a British Author and Entrepreneur who has spent more than  three decades researching and studying the Quran.Mustafa has written and  published extensively about Islam from a Quran-centric perspective. He  is the author of The Quran, God’s message to mankind.

I am grateful and honoured to have Mr Mustafa on the podcast.

  • The story about the plight of Africans in Ukraine has continued to  develop since the past few days.

It's encouraging to see broader mainstream media coverage of this issue.

I spoke to Alexander Somto Orah, a Nigerian student in Ukraine. Orah is  one of the people who have been speaking out about the experiences of  Africans in Ukraine.

This conversation was conducted on March 02, 2022 but due to technical  glitches it was not possible to publish it until today.

For ways to support the evacuation efforts for Africans in Ukraine,  please visit Orah’s twitter feed: @nzekiev. Information on Ukraine  evacuation efforts changes in real time so it's better to follow updates  from someone who is on the ground.

  • A review by the NHS Race & Health Observatory reveals extensive ethnic inequalities within NHS services, following its publication on February 14 2022.

Thanks to NHS Race & Health Observatory , Dr Habib Naqvi MBE and others for their involvement in this endeavour. I look forward to a swift implementation of the recommendations.

The  lead author of the report, Dr Dharmi Kapadia, breaks down the findings  and recommendations in this episode of the Pan-African Experience  Podcast.
