  • Adam is back on the show and we give you the play by play of our Disney trip! It's another long episode, but we tried to give some tips for all of the other non-disney families considering taking their first trip.

    We had a wonderful time and talk about our highlights from each park, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios & Epcot, while visiting with our 6 and 3 year olds. We also talk about what we liked and didn't like about our resort, how we navigated transportation with a double stroller, and which parks we wished we had more time to explore.

    Shoutout to Danielle Williams who helped Leah plan the basic agenda, sign up for Fast Passes, and make dining reservations. Her help and guidance truly made the difference in us enjoying our time. (*not sponsored*)

    If you want Danielle to help you plan your Disney vacation you can find her ON FACEBOOK or email her directly: [email protected]

    ** Due to holiday travel, no show for 12/2 but we will resume the following week one more time before taking time off for Christmas.**

  • Finally, Adam (my hubby) is here on the show! We are here for a sit down to jam on our marriage, our strengths, parenting in light of our favorite tool for personal growth, the Enneagram. Adam is a 5, The Investigator/Observer and Leah is a 3, The Achiever. We think a 5 and a 3 is a powerful combination and we are here to talk about it!

  • Recently I attended a business conference for women and we were prompted to write a letter of encouragement for someone in the room. My stream of consciousness encouragement immediately turned to not quitting even when in the messy middle.

    I think a lot of us feel like we are in the middle of things and feel ready to throw in the towel. This is your pep talk to keep. going. don't. quit.

    Imagine it's just you and me having a pep talk on the phone. "Don't Quit" By John Greenleaf Whittier When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
    When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
    When the funds are low and the debts are high
    And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
    When care is pressing you down a bit,
    Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
    Life is strange with its twists and turns
    As every one of us sometimes learns
    And many a failure comes about
    When he might have won had he stuck it out;
    Don't give up though the pace seems slow—
    You may succeed with another blow.
    Success is failure turned inside out—
    The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
    And you never can tell just how close you are,
    It may be near when it seems so far;
    So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit—
    It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

  • Today I get to introduce you to one of my favorite people, Nicole Dyer. Nicole is the owner and founder of White Birch Food & Juice in Southwest Virginia and represents so many wonderful things. On top of being a young female food entrepreneur in a small southern town, Nicole has a well rounded approach to health, wellness, and how to tune in to what your individual body needs. We talk about juice cleanses, my not so great experience with celery juice, Ayurvedic principles of the different bodies and what it means to simultaneously build something out of passion and do the inner work.

  • This episode is a LONG TIME COMING! I’m calling it Part 3 to MY STORY and if you missed part 1 & 2 check out episodes 19 and 20 from exactly a year ago when I took the time to outline a bit about my past. This conversation is almost sacred to me because I treasure my relationship with my brother and my sister so much. I almost wondered if I should share it here but I think there is value here. I hope for the many of you who have reached out and shared about your own estrangement or isolation from you family that you are encouraged to do the personal work and be open to restoration. And I also hope to inspire you over the next couple months especially with the holidays coming around, that you take time to ask hard and deep questions to your brothers and sisters and take time to process and visit old and wonderful memories. You share a bond that withstands time and space. Here is the conversation I had with my sister, Sarah and my brother Jared!

  • RAW MILK! Part 2

    Got milk? Raw milk that is! Let’s finish up with part 2 of last week's episode. We are picking up right where we left off, Dwayne is going to share about Goshen's Creamery and how it is truly the best compromise for those not able to take part in a herd share or no longer wanting to buy convention dairy. There are lots of angles to this conversation and it is not cut and dry. As consumers we can use our dollars to decide where we want the food industry to go. Your spending habits are powerful. I hope you feel inspired to seek out the farmers in your area and find the ones using innovative and responsible methods!

  • Homebirth! It can be polarizing "Who would actually give birth at home?" "Isn't it dangerous?" "I could never do it all natural!" I used to think all of these thoughts too and then it was me working with a midwife, laboring at home, and pushing my baby out on my bed! I promise it's not as wild as it sounds and to take away some of the stigma here is my tale of when Peter joined our family.

  • Quick, when I say the word "hormonal" what comes to your mind? Probably a mood swing and PMS....am I right? Well hormones are so much more than your period and actually can play a big role in the overall health of your body. Today I'm talking to Natropath Dr. Patti Haebe, a women's hormone expert and we take a 30,000 ft view over how hormones work in the body and a few of the big hitters - Estrogen, Progesterone, Cortisol and more. We even get in to detoxification and talk about the liver and (gasp!) poo. What!?

To be honest, as much as i want to think of myself as a proactive person, I have a ways to go but half the battle is knowing what reactive even means! I hope this breakdown on the way we respond, act, communicate and the types of things we focus on our energy on helps you get closer to your zone of genius.
