  • In the early morning of March 4th, 2022, 33-year-old Kouri Richins called 911 from her home in Kamas, Utah. She said that she’d come back into the bedroom she shared with her 39-year-old husband Eric to find him cold and unresponsive. First responders arrived, but were unable to revive Eric. The father of three was pronounced dead. His autopsy later revealed that he’d ingested about 5 times the lethal amount of Fentanyl. Nobody could believe that Eric had died from a drug overdose. It didn’t take long for investigators to zero in on Eric’s wife, Kouri. Evidence showed that she’d made significantly poor financial decisions, leaving her in a position that may have led her to commit murder.

  • From the late 1960s to the late 1980s, 12 girls and young women lost their lives at the hands of Fred and Rose West, including their own daughters.  They would come under suspicion in August of 1992 after one of their daughters reported to a friend that her father had sexually abused her.  The couple would be formally arrested in 1994 after a lengthy investigation.  Fred West was charged with twelve counts of murder and Rose with nine, but it’s believed that they could be responsible for many more.  Their horrific crimes paint them as two of the most prolific serial killers in the history of the UK.

How did the pretty, athletic, and driven 18-year-old end up buried in a shallow grave, with one of her best friends holding a shovel?

  • Sandy Maloney was expected in court in February of 1998 for her final hearing in her divorce from husband, John Maloney.  She had spoken with her mother several times the night before and after being concerned for her daughter, Lola promised that she would make the just over two hour drive from Madison, Wisconsin to Green Bay, Wisconsin the next morning to check on her.  When Lola arrived, she found her daughter’s body burned, not only on the sofa, but into it.  After months of investigating, her husband, a local police officer, was accused and convicted of her murder.  However, he has always maintained his innocence and it’s entirely possible that he isn’t responsible for Sandy’s death.

She quickly learned that while she was asleep, Brandon’s brother, Kyle, had left to bring him gas after he’d run out on a desolate road. After several strange phone calls to Kyle, Brandon made a 911 call, begging for help, saying that he was being chased. When Kyle finally arrived, he found Brandon’s truck abandoned, but his brother was nowhere to be found. 10 years later, some questions about Brandon’s sudden disappearance have been answered, but his family is still left wondering, what happened to Brandon that night?

  • On Monday, November 13th, 1961, a crewman aboard an oil tanker spotted something in the water. It was a man in a dinghy, waving frantically to get their attention. They rescued the man, and he told a harrowing story of how he found himself in the small vessel adrift at sea. While some believed him, others had serious doubts about his story, and another rescue days later cast further doubts on his tale. The second rescue was of 11 year old Tere Jo Duperrault, and she told a much different version of the events that left her adrift at sea.

  • In 1996, the Summer Olympics were held in Atlanta, Georgia. On July 27th, thousands had gathered at Centennial Park for a late night concert. The FBI was told that a tip was called into 911 saying that a bomb would go off in the park within 30 minutes. A search ensued, and the bomb was located by security guard Richard Jewell. An evacuation was ordered, but three minutes into it, the bomb detonated. Two people died as a result of the bombing and 111 others were injured. The person responsible wouldn’t be captured until 2003, but before that, Richard Jewell was cast as the hero, then, unjustly the villain in the bombing.

  • In late August of 2013, Ryan Hoy called the Aurora Colorado Police Department for help. He said that his wife, 47-year-old Yun-Mi, and his 18-year-old stepdaughter, Isabella, were locked in the upstairs bathroom. He could hear his wife yelling for help, but wasn’t sure exactly what was going on. Then, he saw blood start to seep underneath the bathroom door and into the hallway. Shortly after, Isabella opened the bathroom door, knife in hand and covered in her mother’s blood, and walked down the stairs and out of the home. What could’ve caused the young girl to commit such a brutal act? Was she suffering from delusions and an untreated mental illness? Or was she simply a master manipulator?

  • In February of 2004, the body of a nude woman was discovered near an agricultural research station for Louisiana State University (LSU). The crime scene was processed and it was discovered that the woman had suffered a deep slash to her neck and there were ligature marks all around her neck. Her body had been positioned in a way so that trauma to her genitals would clearly be seen by anyone who found her. Investigators found signs that she had been dragged to the scene, tire tracks nearby, and 13 empty beer cans. The body was determined to be Donna Johnston, and she was the final victim of Sean Vincent Gillis’ 10 year killing spree.

  • In late 2019, Kay Woodcock called local police and asked them to perform a welfare check on her 7-year-old grandson, JJ Vallow. She hadn’t seen him in almost two months, and couldn’t get in touch with his mother or his older sister. As investigators began to look into where JJ was, they found that his 16-year-old sister, Tylee Ryan, was also missing. Their mother, Lori Vallow, claimed that they were safe and happy, but refused to tell anyone where they were. Detectives continued to dig into the Vallow family and found a sickening story of extreme religion, demons, zombies, and murder. They found suspicious deaths that surrounded Lori, as well as her new husband, Chad Daybell. Unfortunately, no one could find JJ or Tylee. Were they really somewhere safe or had they been victims of Lori and Chad’s bizarre cult-like religion?

TRIGGER WARNINGS: child murder, extreme religion
