  • On October 16, 2000, Jerry Micheal Williams left his wife and daughter sleeping in bed while he set out to go duck hunting on Lake Seminole. He would never returned. It was believed that maybe he fell overboard and was eaten by alligators, but could there be more to the story?

  • It's been one heck of a snow season for the Sierra Nevada mountains. In this special episode of Bush & Banter, co-host Jennifer Mabus interviews Ned Tibbits, Founder and Educator of Mountain Education Inc., on how to safely trek through ice and snow. Tibbits has been a wilderness instructor for the last 40 years and was in the first batch of thru-hikers to ever hike the Pacific Crest Trail back in 1974.

Tibbits has worked as an urban and rural paramedic, USFS Wilderness Ranger in the Sierra National Forest, volunteer & professional Ski Patrol in Lake Tahoe, CA, Federal Emergency Manager (FEMA), Sheriff's Department volunteer Search & Rescue in Lake Tahoe, CA, adjunct instructor for an Emergency Medical Technician, and so much more. His accomplishments include thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in 1974 and the Continental Divide Trail in 1980, as well as completing a 5,000 mile bicycle-camping trip in Europe in 1979.

He currently heads Mountain Education Inc. (MEI), which is a completely FREE wilderness school "to teach aspiring hikers what they need to know and do in order to have safe, fun, and personally rewarding outings in our awesome wilderness heritage!" MEI is a non-profit, public charity wilderness school that was founded in 1982.

  • In today's episode of Backpacker Radio presented by The Trek, we are joined by Briana DeSanctis aka Rocky Mountain High. Briana is currently hiking the 6,800 mile American Discovery Trail and upon completing this trail, she will be the first solo woman to ever accomplish this feat. We obviously swan dive deep on everything to do with hiking the ADT, including the specifics of the route, how much of it is on single track vs road, some of the highlight stops along the trail, how she manages resupply and water, what's to love and hate about the trail, and more. Briana is a riot and has no shortage of fun stories from this very wild endeavor. Grab your popcorn, strap in, and enjoy.

We wrap the show with a story about a mom hiking the AT alongside her 15 kids, the triple Crown of people who ought to be on the first rocket to Mars, and we opine if people without inner monologues actually exist.

  • In today's episode of Backpacker Radio presented by The Trek, we are joined by Warren Doyle. Warren is a legend. With 18 traverses of the entire Appalachian Trail accounting for more than 38,000 miles, no one on earth has completed the AT more times than Warren. In addition to his vast knowledge and infatuation with this trail, Warren is a fascinating character, with outspoken beliefs on culture, disobedience, and philosophy. Chaunce and I really enjoyed our chat with Warren and we think you will too.

We wrap the show with a triple crown of things that are better than sex, thru-hiking artists you need to know about, and a few of our most nerve-wracking hitchhikes.

  • In today's episode of Backpacker Radio presented by The Trek, brought to you by Sawyer Products, we are bringing you a certified smorgasbord of backpacking goodness. We kick off the show with a somewhat impromptu interview with Instagram and YouTube sensation, Little Skittle. We learn about the last leg of her triple crown, how she embraced the brutality of the CDT, and of course the requisite fuck, marry, kill of the triple crown trails. We then catch up with Travis Avery of Sawyer Products to geek out on all things related to insect repellants, water filter technology, and how a Chicago Bears running back played a crucial role in Sawyer's early success.

We wrap the show with a series of AT Hiker submissions for "Stupid Thing of the Week", with a very natural slant toward shit stories guaranteed to entertain. As if that weren't enough, Chaunce and I give a rundown on our favorite moments from Trail Days, what adventure plans we have on the docket for this summer, and the typical chaos.

  • Less than a year after the release of CounterClock Season 3, Jeff Pelley is in an Indiana courtroom for the first time in more than a decade. His defense team has one shot at arguing his post-conviction case.

Indiana University law professor Fran Watson claims the now 50-year-old, who is serving four consecutive 40 year sentences, deserves a new trial. Over a period of four days in Saint Joseph County Superior Court, Watson argued that Jeff had an ineffective trial attorney in 2006, prosecutor’s committed Brady violations, Jeff’s right to a speedy trial was violated, original and cold-case investigators fabricated evidence, and there was never-before explored evidence tied to Bob Pelley’s past in Florida that pointed to Jeff’s innocence but was repeatedly ignored by prior prosecutors and investigators.

Delia went back in Indiana to report on the updates in the case and let CounterClock listeners in on what she’s been following since Season 3 released.
