Denver District Attorney Beth McCann makes a historic trip into the Inner Sanctum of Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge. She’s about to conclude two terms and will be stepping off the public stage, but not without some public expressions, as you will hear.

Beth McCann is a trailblazing figure in Denver's legal landscape. She was sworn in as the city's first female District Attorney on January 10, 2017. Her journey to this historic position reflects groundbreaking achievements and a commitment to public service.

McCann spent her childhood moving frequently due to her father's career as an Army colonel, including stints in Japan and Taiwan. Inspired by feminist role models, she pursued higher education to establish a career. McCann graduated magna cum laude from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.

Former President Trump is now stirring up hate against lawful Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, and he’s telling lies about Aurora, Colorado. McCann assures us that Denver law enforcement will be ready if Trump comes to our neighboring city of Aurora.

Like California AG-Elect Kamala Harris, who was also elected on the first Tuesday of November 2016, Denver DA-Elect Beth McCann felt queasy about our country despite achieving her lifetime pinnacle job. Eight years later, Beth McCann voluntarily surrendered power to her successor, John Walsh (Ep 193), whom she endorsed.

McCann's legal journey began at Georgetown University Law School in 1971, where she was one of only a handful of women in her class. After graduating in 1974, she moved to Denver, becoming only the second female law clerk for Colorado's U.S. District Court Judge Sherman G. Finesilver.

McCann served as a deputy and then Chief Deputy District Attorney in Denver from 1975 to 1982, prosecuting hundreds of cases. In the early 1990s, McCann became Denver's first female Manager of Safety under Mayor Wellington Webb.

For eight years, McCann served as Deputy Attorney General for Civil Litigation and Employment Law for the Colorado Attorney General’s Office. McCann was also a four-term elected state representative for HD 8 in Denver, focusing on criminal justice matters and health care reform.

McCann has long been a strong advocate for women in the legal profession. She is a founding member and former president of the Colorado Women's Bar Association, and she explains why most of her new hires are female prosecutors.

Kamala Harris’s virtues as a fellow big-city prosecutor are extolled. Beth and Kamala have inevitably faced specific difficult everyday top prosecutor experiences. We agree that Tim Walz is a fine man and educator. We talk with Denver DA McCann about character and leadership.

McCann explains her recent decision no charges will be filed in connection with a deadly shooting in July at an apartment near the University of Denver.

    https://www.9news.com/article/news/local/du-apartment-intruder-shot-killed/73-a62f1a45-d7ce-49ed-a055-907d65887ed5

According to Denver Police, a resident returned to their apartment inside One Observatory Park around 1 a.m. on July 21 and was startled by an intruder. The apartment building is on East Evans Avenue, just east of South University Boulevard.

We discuss how Kamala Harris said she’d shoot any intruder into her family home. Beth McCann explains the burden of proof on prosecutors and how she’s made thousands of such decisions.

Show Troubadour Dave Gunders plays hurt, coming off the recovery table from knee replacement surgery and offering his toe-tapping song "Some Days." Some days this week started off bad for NC Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, who had nasty laundry exposed. It could not happen in a better swing state.

The host starts the show by decrying Trump’s blaming of the Jews in case he does not get elected. Is he talking to Craig? It appears so. What’s he going to do about it? Have friends extract retribution? WTF. Kamala continues to be calm and bright. This episode is hopeful.

    Troubadour Dave Gunders - 01:46:36

"Just Try Me" by Dave Gunders - 02:08:13

    Outro - 02:13:51

Following this historic month of political upheaval, the lead columnist for @coloradosun, Mike Littwin, reviews the dramatic developments climaxed by the Chicago DNC. VP Kamala Harris’ acceptance speech was the cherry on top.

Littwin recounts his career from growing up in Norfolk to covering the local ABA Virginia Squires – who practiced at the Norfolk JCC. Point guard Larry Brown and forward Doug Moe were friendly to young Littwin, who labored for the local paper.

Two years later, the Squires had a new player, Julius Erving, who stood out. When George Gervin joined the Squires, Littwin witnessed the Iceman and Dr. J. play hellacious one-on-one games after practice.

    https://images.app.goo.gl/WjANJtiwQUN6Ffoi6

Littwin went on to significant stints at the Baltimore Sun and LA Times before heading to Denver, where, for decades, he was Denver’s leading news columnist at the late Rocky Mountain News. Littwin’s work still shines twice a week at the Colorado Sun.

Kamala Harris' nomination acceptance speech gets thoroughly reviewed. The Craig Silverman Show salutes Littwin for bravely calling on @potus to step down right after his debate debacle. Littwin kept it up in subsequent columns.

    https://coloradosun.com/2024/06/30/biden-trump-debate-opinion-littwin/

Social media barbs were thrown at Littwin and others advocating for Biden to pass the torch. The show recognizes the critical roles of Ezra Klein, David Axelrod, Tim Miller, NYT, George Clooney, Joe Walsh, Pod Save America, Joe Salazar, and Rob Reiner for joining the patriotic advocacy.

The antisemitism of Donald Trump gets addressed and undressed. Given Trump’s verbal attack on PA Gov. Josh Shapiro and Trump’s claims Jews need their heads examined, Littwin lets loose on the GOP presidential nominee. Host and guest talk as two experienced American Jews.

We have never seen a phenomenon like Kamala Harris and her VP selection, Tim Walz. We go over the Walz speech and the sensation caused when Gus Walz cried with pride in his Dad. Warning: get a handkerchief.

You may want to cry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBrnKM0jo40

The following bold names are subjects of Littwin stories: Jim Murray, David Simon, Dr. J., Larry Brown, Doug Moe, Bill Owens, John Hickenlooper, Michael Bennet, Jason Crow, Joe Neguse, Jack Nicklaus, Bob Beauprez, Hank Brown, RFK JR., and Cory Gardner.

We talk about photojournalist for RMN and NYT, Todd Heisler, who took amazing Kamala pic at the DNC. Littwin traveled the world with Heisler when they worked together. Learn the respect Littwin has for Heisler.

    https://www.mediaite.com/news/just-stunning-iconic-photo-of-kamala-harris-and-great-niece-amara-during-dnc-speech-goes-viral/

Littwin keeps columnizing because he loves his craft and his Colorado Sun audience is enormous. Colorado readers are deprived of most of our old favorites, but not the legendary Littwin, who still enjoys the challenge and profit of churning out world-class columns for us to enjoy.

Littwin’s highly accomplished UT Austin law professor daughter, Angie Littwin, and Littwin's grandsons also have him loving life. Few people like politics and history more than Mike Littwin. We like and feel Kamalamomentum.

Troubadour Dave Gunders loved the Chicago DNC and identified his favorite parts. Kamala Harris was the star, and we hope our 47th President. She made her case on Thursday. "Just Try Me" is the perfect Gunders’ persuasion song for the American electorate.

Political savant Tim Miller is ubiquitous on our screens now. He's a Regis High School graduate and one of the hottest broadcasters in the world. Cable News loves his commentary and he's a major podcast breakout star via The Bulwark.

    https://podcast.thebulwark.com/guests/tim-miller

Tim Miller was the communications director for the Jeb Bush for President campaign in 2016. Donald Trump took down Jeb, and we discuss how the Bush family feels now and if they’ll speak out against Trump. Tim Miller takes on Donald Trump with brilliant commentary and analysis. He was in the belly of the GOP beast.

After the June presidential debate, this podcast and others demanded Biden pass the torch. Other podcasters like Ezra Klein, Pod Save America, and David Axelrod led the national charge. But no podcaster/pundit outdid Tim Miller, who used his massive daily Bulwark platform and persuasive skills to make change happen.

    https://www.thebulwark.com/p/enough-with-the-biden-psychodrama

Tim Miller describes his upbringing and how he barely survived his Regis High years with long commutes on C-470. Jesuit education was a family tradition, and he always attended parochial schools. Miller also made the acquaintance of Colorado Governor Bill Owens, with whom he maintains good relations.

Miller saves his most effusive praise for Governor Jared Polis. The two are gay trailblazers in public life and know each other well. Tim Miller, his husband, and their children live in New Orleans for good reasons. Miller returns to Colorado frequently for family, skiing, Red Rocks, and the Denver Nuggets.

Nikola Jokic's status as the best player in the world is undisputed. Nuggets' love runs deep in this show. But harsh disaffection is expressed for the Nuggets’ owner Stan Kroenke who has deprived Denver of seeing our MVP on Comcast for way years now. Tim Miller rips Stan Kroenke.

Also disappointing is the MAGA support by Larry Mizel, a prominent Colorado billionaire who has joined Team Trump along with Miriam Adelson and other rich Jews. Host and guest ponder why prominent Colorado Republicans won’t just say no to Trump. Any Netanyahu-Trump plans should not be trusted.

We trust our show’s Troubadour, Dave Gunders, every week to supply the perfect song. "Louisiana Goodbye" is a poignant tale of a Bayou family that loves their home but cannot escape a hurricane. It is a story of persistence. We reviewed and enjoyed another positive week for Harris-Walz.

We discuss why some people like Kamala Harris become prosecutors while other law graduates are attracted to the defense bar and public defender offices. Lisa Wayne explains why she takes such pride in her PD days and leadership role as a criminal defense attorney.

As a proud mixed-race black woman, Lisa Wayne reacts to the incendiary racial comments by Donald Trump, claiming Kamala Harris disrespects her various heritages and just recently “turned black.” We discuss many ways MAGA threatens the Constitution and the Rule of Law.

The song, "Come Down Miss Lizzie," honors America as a melting pot. Troubadour Dave Gunders discusses the host’s fast road trip voyage to Nebraska and Minnesota. Given the sudden death of Ismail Haniyeh, the host recounts his 12-12-06 Denver radio interview with former President Jimmy Carter, who was promoting his book titled Palestine, Peace, Not Apartheid. The interview devolved, causing 14 members of the Carter Center to resign.

Phil Weiser's journey to becoming the Colorado Attorney General is truly inspiring. He served as a law clerk for Justices Byron R. White and Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the U.S. Supreme Court and later became senior counsel for the Justice Department's Antitrust Division. He then became CU Law Dean.

We delve into the crucial responsibilities of an Attorney General, the state’s chief law enforcement officer, a position of great significance held by Kamala Harris (California) and Josh Shapiro (Pennsylvania). What great training for higher office.

Colorado AG recounts his office’s success in stopping Kroger’s proposed merger with Albertsons. Weiser also discusses governmental solutions to airline travel delays, other consumer rip-offs, and social media targeting teenagers.

The results in the Elijah McClain death prosecutions are reviewed. Phil Weiser discusses the commitment, ethics, and energy necessary to be a good prosecutor. Our jury system and Kamala Harris's career path are praised.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro mentored AG Weiser, and Phil went to see then AG Shapiro for advice before running for the job in Colorado. Weiser is a massive fan of Shapiro, who may be the Dem VP nominee. Governor Shapiro castigates Trump for shit-talking America.

Troubadour Dave Gunders brings us great music and vibes as we celebrate Kamala Harris's elevation to the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. “Set the Tone” is about perseverance and the power of people, especially those with a good attitude. Joe Salazar is a former Colorado House of Representatives member who served three terms in the state legislature. He was vice chair of the House Judiciary and State, Veterans and Military Affairs committees. Salazar was the first member of his family to go to college and law school.

Joe Salazar describes his fascinating multi-ethnic background. He's a civil rights attorney and political activist. Salazar has deep family roots in Colorado with his Spanish ancestors arriving in the area in the late 1500s or early 1600s. He also has ties to the Apache tribe.

We discuss the bravery of Colorado Senator Michael Bennet, Representative Jason Crow and Representative Brittany Pettersen in leading the charge to have President Biden withdraw from the nomination.

Should President Biden step down from the presidency, making VP Kamala Harris the incumbent President, and who should be her VP? What are the roles of billionaires like Musk and Zuckerberg in all of this?

Troubadour Dave Gunders brings us his terrific song, titled "Train Keeps Coming," full of symbolism for Amtrack Joe to take the last train home to Delaware and the show contemplates a hiatus if Joe Biden doesn’t leave the race. But we expect Joe to go. And America to continue.

The show begins with the host’s review of POTUS on ABC on Friday night. Many mistakes and misperceptions made in that interview are a blessing in disguise. Kudos to Stephanopoulos, who played it straight down the middle. Let’s think about all the Democrats who can beat Trump decisively. Which is what is needed in 2024.

Judith Berg weighs in once more following the fortieth anniversary of the assassination of her ex-husband, Denver radio talk show legend Alan Berg. Listen to how disturbed Judith was by Peter Boyles and his account of events in the Denver Post. There was much to learn from what Boyles wrote and his omitted facts.

    https://www.denverpost.com/2024/06/16/alan-berg-antisemitism-assassination-denver-shooting-neo-nazi-white-supremacist/

Boyles and Berg were rivals and competitors. There'd be a crossover when they had adjoining slots, and the two grew up in radio together. But Berg was sober in Denver and Boyles in his “nightmare years.” Berg hung out with loyal friends like David Savitz and Al Zinn outside work and he stayed close to Judith. They had dinner his last night.

Recall Episode 101, where Judith Berg explains how Peter Boyles called her a “k*ke” not long after Berg had died. Boyles hates Stephen Singular's fine book, "Talked to Death," which tells the truth about Berg’s life and relationships. This podcast does the same, identifying the late talk show host's true friends.

On Episodes 70 and 78, we had a surplus of greatness, including Harold Dubinski in Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge using colorful Texas language to describe his old boss, attorney Al Zinn and his old pal and frat bro, Alan Berg. We got to hear them on KOA radio. Harold brings the late Alan Berg and Al Zinn back to life.

Henry Gunders is still alive! He was born on June 30, 1924 in Munich, where he was a star athlete. But he was a Jew named Gunderheimer, and soon, many members of his family and he escaped. That’s how he became a military man fighting Nazis in WWII and became our Troubadour's Dad.

”They killed the mockingbird,” Boyles told the media on the day after the shooting. Gone was Boyles’ competitor on AM mornings. Gone was the guy who’d hogged the spotlight on 60 Minutes. According to the Chicago Tribune, Boyles put on quite a show on the witness stand as Denver’s new king of talk radio.

We feature two fine attorneys with long tenures in the Colorado House. Steven Woodrow is a Democrat representing House District 2 in Denver. Rep. Woodrow shows courage by even engaging in this talk about replacing Joe, President Joe Biden.

Our other special panelist is former Colorado State Rep. and longtime civil rights lawyer Joe Salazar. He is now a member of the DNC. Joe Salazar objects to Joe Biden's coronation, citing the debate debacle as Exhibit One.

We discuss the fitness of Joe Biden to continue as the Democratic Party nominee. Or can Dems do much better with Kamala Harris, Gretchen Whitmer, Josh Shapiro, Rafael Warnock or Michelle Obama?

Then, we move on to contemplate the implications of the horrible Supreme Court ruling turning our President into a sovereign, with immunity for official acts, even if they involve murder, rape and theft. Immunity for the most amoral president we’ve ever had? What could go wrong?

Joe Salazar is stepping up. And wait till you hear Salazar’s compelling closing argument on behalf of himself, his children and the indigenous people, citing fellow delegate to the DNC, James Zogby. They are rounding up the support of others for Chicago.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/02/us/politics/dnc-process-to-replace-biden.html

The Zogby/Salazar plan would be most entertaining. Our panel show will entertain you and make you think. Thanks to the US Supreme Court, the Trump litigations are on permanent “sorting out Trump’s immunity” claims. But Joe Salazar and Steve Woodrow are excellent guests. Enjoy.

This special fourth-anniversary show, a significant milestone that coincides with the Fourth of July, which arrives on Thursday, is a momentous occasion. Show Troubadour Dave Gunders performs his beautiful ballad, "Fourth of July," and helps analyze the Biden-Trump debate, also known as "The Catastrophe."

Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge is honored to welcome the Palm Beach County DA, Dave Aronberg, aka The Florida Lawman, a distinguished figure in the legal field, to discuss current events including the Biden - Trump debate. Aronberg, a regular on MSNBC and especially on Morning Joe, brings his wealth of knowledge and experience to our show.

The Supreme Court ruling in the Sackler opioid case pleased Aronberg, who fought the drug wars in Florida. We review the other controversial actions of the Supreme Court and discuss the MAGA threats to democracy as Trump may become President again. Here’s Aronberg’s new channel.

Solutions are accessible in emergencies like this. The Democrats have a deep bullpen and swing state governors and ex-DAs Gretchen Whitmer and Josh Shapiro will do. We need to have Trump's opponent enunciate the fascist menace. President Biden should heroically decline the Dem nomination by July 4.

Stevens has authored "It Was All a Lie: How the Republican Party Became Donald Trump" and "The Conspiracy to End America: Five Ways My Old Party Is Driving Democracy to Autocracy." Stevens has a brilliant way of seeing things and he’s seen the collapse of the Republican Party into dangerous Trumpism.

    Intro - 00:25

    Kevin Flynn - 05:21

    Outro - 01:40:21

Special Craig’s Colorado Homefront Show addresses the outbreak of violent fascism in Denver precisely 40 years ago. Alan Berg was gunned down by Bruce Pierce, a felon with an assault weapon who’d come from Idaho to Colorado to assassinate a Jew. Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt, two Rocky Mountain News reporters, wrote a masterpiece on Berg’s killers titled "The Silent Brotherhood: Inside America's Racist Underground."

After starting his young life as a stage actor, Kevin Flynn became an award-winning reporter and social commentator. When he got the big job in Denver at the Rocky Mountain News, Kevin became a top Denver reporter for decades, traveling the country to report on Ward Churchill, Tim McVeigh and the many people involved in plotting Berg’s death.

An East Coast kid from the Lehigh Valley, Kevin takes pride in his Irish-American and German-American lineage, explaining the good working man’s life provided by his father, Joe Flynn and Kevin’s mom, who worked at the Easton Express.

We learn about powerful interactions with Michael Landon, who visited Kevin’s hospitalized brother, Dennis, in 1964. We reminisce about Little Joe from the Cartwright family who lived on Ponderosa. Bonanza was an influential part of the Flynn, Silverman and baby-boomer upbringing.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZC_fCRacm0M

Guest and host share an Emmy for a PBS12 Time Travel production of Colorado Inside Out, set in 1959. Flynn was immaculate as Al Nakkula, while the host did an award-winning job portraying his father, slick Denver real estate lawyer Sheldon Silverman.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=swtrM3rGk_k

The subject turns to the terrible night of June 18, 1984, when Alan Berg was gunned down on his driveway at 1445 Adams Street in Denver. The scene still bears bullet damage visible on the area around the townhouse driveway where Berg was ambushed. We talk about Berg. We try to identify his true friends.

Flynn is in touch with Berg’s former wife, Judith Berg, who was with him that evening at a Jefferson County restaurant and almost got out of the car on Adams Street before a decision was made to take Judith to a different location. The shooting happened when Alan Berg returned alone.

Flynn pays tribute to fellow author, the late Steven Singular, who wrote Talked to Death, a book about Berg, his background and who his true friends were in Denver and Berg’s native Chicago. We learn about what led to his being targeted for assassination by the Jew-hating bigots.

    https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-craig-silverman-show/id1522579679?i=1000541693122

What was the role of Peter Boyles? Was he Berg’s friend? The competitive talk show host invited bigoted con man Rick Elliot to the shared studio to promote Elliott’s publication of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. When Berg arrived, he took on the Jew-hating conspiracists on the air. Here’s Boyles’ version of events.

    https://www.denverpost.com/2024/06/16/alan-berg-antisemitism-assassination-denver-shooting-neo-nazi-white-supremacist/

We discuss the investigation and the federal RICO prosecution of Berg’s murderers in Seattle. Berg’s murder was part of proving a predicate act in the Aryan Brotherhood’s conspiracy of violence throughout America, and especially in the Northwest. We discuss why the host’s boss, Denver DA Norm Early, declined to prosecute in Denver.

Robert Mathews was the ringleader of the fascists who came to Colorado to kill Berg. A charismatic leader, Mathews was incinerated as the feds closed in on his house on 12.8.84 in Whidbey Island, WA. Flynn interviewed Matthews’ family and they explained Robert’s early attraction to Goldwater, John Beirtherism and hating on “Commies and Jews.”

Flynn wrote The Silent Brotherhood with his great friend, the late Gary Gerhardt. Now, their book is being made into a major motion picture called The Order. Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult are the two lead actors with podcasting comedian Marc Maron playing the role of the late Alan Berg.

    https://www.denverpost.com/2023/03/02/jude-law-nicholas-hoult-the-order-silent-brotherhood-kevin-flynn-book-movie/

We contemplate the fate of Berg and his former wife if both got out of the vehicle that horrible night 40 years ago on Adams Street. Alan died alone, but the lessons regarding the dangers of fascist hate will not die until they rob all of us of our voices. There are lessons in this special episode dedicated to the memory of the late Alan Berg.

Delve into the motivations of this emerging Democratic leader, Sean Camacho. The podcast dissects threats to our Rule of Law, the Supreme Court scandals and their far-reaching recent rulings, a topic of immense importance in the current political landscape.

    https://www.camachoforcolorado.com/

The unexpected overturning of Roe v Wade in the Dobbs case and the potential for even more severe cases in the future, particularly if Trump is re-elected, are thoroughly discussed. The fight against fascism is a key focus of the conversation, keeping the audience informed and engaged.

Fighting fascism extends to Trisha Calvarese's return visit. The star of Episode 205 returns to brag about her May 22, 2024, beatdown of Greg Lopez in a debate held on the Dan Caplis Show. Trisha dishes on the race so far, her opponents Lopez and Boebert, and the awful rulings by the Trump Supreme Court.

When the Democrats gain big momentum based on mass MAGA rejection, won’t Trisha make it close in CO CD4? We wonder why Kyle Clark won’t entertain a Calvarese v Boebert (Lopez) debate when the stakes are so high on June 25, 2024, when Colorado will have a new person in Congress to replace Ken Buck.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wjezs0Mdteo

Given the discussion of Caplis with Trisha, hear Caplis proclaiming that President Biden will still drop out. Further, Caplis proclaims the existence of spirits from past relatives and the Deep State that are rigging everything against Trump. What can be done to stop all abortions? Apparently, anything, including propaganda. We analyze.

Show Troubadour Dave Gunders supplies a song about a working man and a love that went way wrong. "Chop Wood Carry Water" tells the story of a man who got radicalized while following his passion. Current events reviewed. Lessons learned get discussed.

This special episode is dedicated to the memory of #32, Bill Walton, who was a guest on Episode 151 less than a year ago. Bill passed away on Memorial Day. Rememberances of the Big Redhead are everywhere, including here.

    https://coloradosun.com/author/craig-silverman/

Colorado Sun colleague and ace attorney Mario Nicolais returns to Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge to discuss Walton’s passing and Trump's historic 34 felony convictions in his just-concluded New York criminal trial. Mario once worked for Rudy Guiliani for President and has insights into what happened and why.

Listen and learn similarities between the New York state court trial and the Denver District Court trial in which Mario Nicolais litigated against Trump at the Fourteenth Amendment, Article 3 trial. Given the Alitos’ flag flying and other high court improprieties, the US Supreme Court is in awful shape.

And what about the legal profession now? Where are professional associations condemning Trump and Alito? What about the lawyer broadcasters backing Trump’s cry that jury trials in NYC and Dem-dominated big cities are rigged? What are the consequences of Trump’s behavior and should he be incarcerated?

New York had a righteous prosecution and the defendant's behavior was deplorable. A constitution crisis is here and Craig’s Lawyers’ Lounge gets more salty than normal as the misuse of the word “fascist” gets reviewed.

We shudder as we contemplate Cabinet Secretaries named Davis, Flynn and Patel in a Trump 2.0 scenario. Can our Rule of Law survive? Listen to Mario Nicolais’ vision of horrible election and post-election possibilities.

The show starts with the wise reflections of Show Troubadour Dave Gunders who sings his song epitomizing Bill Walton’s recovery from 36 surgeries and pursuit of the truth. We review how media figures spin the public to our detriment and we play "The Rebound" in memory of Bill Walton.

Boulder DA Michael Dougherty and Ryan Brackley, Esq. - 03:40

    Outro - 56:47

Craigs’ Colorado Corner reconvenes the Centennial State’s best panel show to analyze Donald Trump's trials again. NY v. Trump goes to the jury!! Boulder DA Michael Dougherty and Ryan Brackley are outstanding legal guests. Both served over a dozen years in the Manhattan DA’s Office and rose high. They know Josh Steinglass and Susan Hoffinger.

What about Donald Trump's contempt for the process? Is Trump sleeping? How has Judge Merchan performed? What about Manhattan juries? How do they differ from Denver or Boulder? Michael Dougherty is DA for Colorado’s 20th Judicial District.

    https://bouldercounty.gov/district-attorney/

Ryan Brackley is a native New Yorker who started as a prosecutor in Manhattan, moved to Boulder to be Stan Garnett’s #2 and then to Denver to become #2 under DA Beth McCann. Now, he’s an accomplished criminal defense attorney.

    https://brackleylaw.com/

Michael Dougherty used to run over the Brooklyn Bridge to work for former Manhattan DA Cy Vance. Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg has consulted with Dougherty over important law enforcement matters. That proud, prestigious prosecutorial office has a family feel and New York v Trump may be its biggest case.

    https://www.michaelforboulderda.com/

Is there a threat to the rule of law? How did Judge Mershan and the attorneys perform? What will be the verdict? Was there a fair trial? Are these charges fair? Why did the prosecution not seek to admit Trump's out-of-court statements during the trial, where Trump was offering inconsistent defenses and belittling the process?

How and why is New York law different from Colorado and other jurisdictions? Why does the defense go first in closing arguments? Why read the instructions “after” closing arguments and why can’t the jury possess a copy to the jury room? What’s with all the readback of cold transcripts by court reporters generally ill-prepared for the task?

Why is Juror #1 the foreperson? All these things are so different in Colorado. The parties and lawyers are required to stay at the courthouse. Can there be a worse job than being the person in the waiting room with the defendant? All these things are so different in Colorado.

The panel discussed the jury questions and requests for readbacks on their first day of historic deliberation. Brackley and Dougherty are superb panelists with great experience and perspective to analyze New York v. Trump. Give it a listen. This show will stimulate your mind.
