How do we raise our kids with joy and wonder in uncertain and – let’s face it – increasingly bleak times?
This is the question explored in weekly podcast Brown Baby, hosted by writer (and dad of two) Nikesh Shukla. Inspired by his forthcoming memoir, Brown Baby: A Memoir of Race, Family and Home, each week Nikesh invites fellow parents of brown babies - writers, musicians, chefs, comedians, actors and more - to talk about their parenting journeys and the highs and lows they’ve experienced along the way.
A frank, funny and poignant look at parenting, Brown Baby will spark honest, self-effacing conversation about how we tell our kids about the world. Featuring parenting fails, plus the best (and worst) advice Nikesh and his guests have ever received, this is the comforting, uplifting podcast for anyone who’s ever found themselves searching for answers in a sleep-deprived Google hole.

Joy Gandell is a parent like you and, ever since she had her first child, has experienced the parenting stress every parent feels not knowing what to do and how to get it right. Since no guidebook was given at the birth of her 1st child, she has researched the right way to do things almost every step of the way. As time went on and her children grew and life situations became more complex, the search for answers got more frequent, and the questions deeper and seemingly more pressing. The constant pursuit for answers is a lonely place, so she created this podcast for like-minded parents who feel alone and want to join the quest to crack the parenting code. Since all children are unique, there cannot be one size fits all answers. The emphasis will be on sharing lessons learned, connections made, insights, and asking further questions. Since all parents are busy, this podcast will be seasonal, with short episodes launched weekly. You can find all transcripts and sources mentioned in the episodes at: https://beingwithjoy.buzzsprout.com/ and can reach out to Joy directly at beingwithjoypodcast@gmail.com.

Join me, Taylor Kulik, an occupational therapist and sleep & well-being specialist, as we examine the mainstream narratives that dominate our culture. It's common to enter parenthood without really stopping to reflect on why we are doing the things we are doing. This is a space where we will challenge societal parenting and childhood norms and discuss biological infant sleep without sleep training. We'll also share real journeys of parents who have gone against the grain by practicing responsive and respectful parenting, and by following their intuition.
