  • 73: 2016 Merrymaker review! The epic, the good, the bad, the blessings!

    · #MerryBiz

In episode 73 we take a look back at 2016 and the year that it was! Holey moley… big freaking year!  Take a listen! We have lotsa fun in this episode! Most loved moment of 2016? Carla:  My most loved moment in 2016 probably I’m gonna say our road trip, L.A to San Francisco it was freaking amazing and the best thing ever. Emma: There was just so many epic things that I can’t even think which one but I think it would be all the traveling combined! What was your most favorite travel moment? Carla: Most fav. travel moment would be when we went to Bangkok and we were on a roof top bar looking over the amazing city at all the lights all the stars and just crazy meeting amazing people. Emma: I think both America trips and Bangkok trip and also Melbourne trip, going to the races, going to the Melbourne cup. What about your biggest lesson of 2016? Emma: Biggest lesson would be ‘focus on joy’ like just always focus on adding more joy to your day and your projects and whatever you’re doing because, life is short and you don’t know when it’s gonna end. Like you just don’t know. So it’s like, what‘s the point of getting really stressed out about work, business, relationships when actually you don’t know your time is up? Focus on adding joy and if you find yourself being cranky, being nasty because of just a bad mood like have stuff that can get out of your funk. Be aware of what is creating that funk. Figure out how to make it get better just self-awareness of that, self-awareness of happiness. Favorite Podcast Episode? That we recorded with another person we interviewed… Emma: I think all the ones with Dan Norris because they were live, and also Mark Manson’s podcast. He was so helpful, he has this really good perspective of life stuff and to make it less sucky, he’s really awesome. I would definitely recommend going back in listening to that one. Carla: My favorite podcast episode I’m gonna say yes to both what you said (Mark Manson and Dan Norris) I agree with you. But also Hal Elrod. His episode helped so many people and it helped us as well. Favorite book you read this year? Carla and Emma: Create or Hate by Dan Horris Emma: The art of War  by Steven Pressfield, The Subtle of Not Giving a Fuck Favorite Restaurant/Dinner Moment of 2016? Emma: We’ve had so many dinners this year! Carla: Can I just combine all the bonita bonitas together? Emma: Mexican foods, mexican tacos and the best margaritas! What about overseas dinner? Emma: Phuket, in Melbourne when we went to Facny Hanks! Carla: What about Ojai when we had Pizza with Derek and Marleen under the fairy lights?! What about the Monterey… What about in New York we went to Mexican? Hardest Moment of 2016? Emma: There was a lot of struggles with direction, clarity, we made mistakes or what to focus our energy on, it’s just being a massive year of stepping up and not quite making it. We were stepping up, learning but everything kinda little but BLAH! Carla: The hardest moment to deal with has been the book. Because I thought that with the book we learned our lesson from the last book and then this book happened and I was really excited about it and then it’s just had to so many delays. Emma: You know what’s been the biggest lesson for me? No more books just stick to online. Tune into the episode as we take you way back to January 2016 the 1st of Jan. We go through everything that’s happened in Merrymaker Land. The Plan for 2017… our focus will be.. The Challenge The App doubling down on that The book Partnerships and Collaboration We wanna send out huge love Merry vibes to YOU for tuning in to our podcast this year! We can’t wait to bring you more Merry magic during 2017!

Last week you heard some great insights from Champion Athlete, Jan Frodeno on his quest to take on Kona and what he has had to do to make the transition from short-course to long-course a successful one. Today we get to talk his wife, Olympic Gold Medalist, Commonwealth Medalist and 3x World Champion - Emma Snowsill. Emma has enjoyed an amazing career but has dealt with some serious health issues, that ultimately lead to her retiring from the sport. As a result Emma has learned some hard lessons and had decided to embark on a quest to fully understand health and help educate athletes as to what real health actually means. Emma Talks About: What being a World Champion has taught her. Why she stopped racing. Emma's personal health journey. Learning about true health. Understanding that what we eat underpins performance. Giving back to the sport. Being an ambassador. Educating people on the sport through commentary. What is in store for Emma. This was a fantastic opportunity to sit down and speak candidly with such a remarkable athlete - and person. Emma's positivity is amazing as she prefers to view her health battles as step into a new direction and career, rather than something that holds her back. Emma's story carries the message that as athletes we owe it ourselves to understand what true health really is. You should check Emma out on Instagram and via her Website.

  • Emma Louise Wyn Jones // Yacht Photographer

    · On the Wind Sailing, by 59 North, Ltd.

#143 is Emma Louise Wyn Jones, a very charming and inspiring 22-year-old sailor and yachting photographer from the UK. I met Emma during the recent Caribbean 600 Race. If you happened to catch that video that the race media posted about Paul & I discussing the weather for the race, it was Emma who shot it. If you didn’t see it yet, check out this episode’s show notes page for the link. I was interested in talking to Emma about how she decided to go into yachting photography, her sailing history in general, and about what it’s like starting from scratch and trying to move up in the sailing world. I get a lot of emails from college students and twenty-somethings looking for advice, so this episode is particularly interesting if you’re one of those people wondering how to get your start. When we left Antigua in early March, Emma had gotten a crew job aboard ‘The Blue Peter’, the classic, 1930s-era 65-foot wooden sloop you might remember me mentioning in the Race Recap podcast that barged in on us at the start. I met the boat’s owner, Mat, who bought me a beer at the bar and apologized for the foul language his crew shouted at us! Anyway, Emma’s on that boat now, and will remain in the Caribbean for the rest of the winter season, doing her thing. In case you’re wondering, Emma has no secret formula for success, just a willingness to work hard and sleep in strange places. What a cool story! The blokes are the business mentors I would never in a million years have access to, especially in the very immature start-up phase of business. They speak and explain business in a way that’s relatable, especially to the regular everyday Aussie. Give me the intellectual “bogan geek” any-day, who actually knows what they’re talking about. When the blokes speak, I listen. There’s a bloke for every business personality type. You’ll find yourself saying “I completely agree with what he’s saying!” after yet another snippet of quality business advice comes out of your speakers. After regular listening, a pattern will emerge with who you relate to the most. Trying to catch up on the previous episodes, the blokes go with me everywhere. In my car while driving, in the wee hours of the morning (5am starts anyone?), in my downtime, on flights, at home on client-filled weekends... everywhere. The BBB podcast is the icing on my “live and breathe your business” cake. And I’m learning about beer. • Mrs Frieda’s Halfway Home Session 4 – Emma’s Birthday

    · The Drunk and The Ugly

It’s late July at the halfway house, which is about the same as any time in the summer, except for the forgotten fact that Emma Vaerbond will soon be thirteen.  Mrs. Frieda’s not really one for ceremony, and Emma’s never been exactly vocal about the special day, especially since her “special friend” always likes to celebrate the occasion in his own way.  This year is no different. Odyn, owed a promise of “playtime” with Emma, has made it happen. He’s whispering in a few ears, setting up a few birthday surprises, and doing his best to make sure Emma never forgets this day. Emma’s friends?  Well, they just happen to be excellent pawns. • 57: Letting Go of Blame After a Breakup with Emma

    · 00:38:26 · Over it and On with it with Christine Hassler

Today's caller, Emma, is seeking guidance after a breakup. She would like to move forward with building her business but finds herself battling with self-doubt and procrastination. Emma is taking ownership of the issue and has a high-level of self-awareness about it, but she needs to uncover what is holding her back. When we ask ourselves the question "what am I learning from this situation?" instead of "why did it happen to me?" we unlock something which is critical to our growth and healing. When a relationship ends, we are never 100% victims. We need to take 100% responsibility for the 50% which is our part. That said, we must do so without self-judgment or blame. We must accept we did the best we could with what we had at the time, and we now have an opportunity to do better moving forward. In future relationships, Emma has the opportunity to be more intimate. She was playing out the same patterns of withholding and people pleasing in her business, as she did in her marriage. Instead of being vulnerable she felt ashamed of sharing what was really going on in her life. People crave intimacy. Especially those who love us, care about us or want to get to know us. They want to feel like they are getting the real person. It's hard to love someone who is wearing a mask or people pleasing all the time because we never know how they really feel. If you withhold of yourself through people pleasing, perfection or because you don't trust people, it is time to examine that aspect of yourself. Emotional suppression holds energy back. Forgiveness can only begin after we bring acceptance and compassion to our feelings. We are unique but in many ways we are similar. We also have core pains and patterns that hold us back and once we move and shift those, we can move the needle in other parts of our lives. I address core pains and patterns in my Over It and On With It Mastery Course. My personal mastery coaching course, Over It and On With It, is now open for registration until October 20th. The 6-week course includes a 90-minute call every other week, worksheets, guided meditations and more. This course is the best of my spiritual practices and practical tips. Go to ChristineHassler.com/Mastery to register. Allow me to give you the support you need. Consider/Ask Yourself: ? Are you a procrastinator? ? Have you gone through a breakup and blame yourself or the other person? ? Do you relate to being a people pleaser? ? Is intimacy challenging for you? ? Would you like to teach your children something you wish you had learned as a child? Emma's Question: Emma would like strategies on how to move forward after her breakup. Emma's Key Insights and Aha's: ? She feels as if she wasn't enough in her relationship. ? She is a people pleaser. ? She doesn't trust herself. ? She suppresses her emotions. ? She did the best she could with the tools she had at the time. ? She punishes herself for going after what she wants. ? She needs to get eliminate the belief she needs to be perfect to teach forgiveness. How to Get Over It and On With It: ? She needs to welcome the emotional aspect of her feelings. ? She should do forgiveness work around her self-blame. ? She should be compassionate towards herself to move into acceptance. ? She can empower her children with the tools she didn't have. ? She needs to believe she deserves her dreams. ? She should create a meditation course for others to help herself heal. Assignments and Takeaways: ? Write a letter to yourself or another person without sending it. It will help move the energy so it can be healed. ? Take a look at your life and see where you are withholding, not being honest, or people pleasing, and channel the energy to create something fun. ? Empower your children with the tools and knowledge you wish you would have had. Resources: Christine...

Myself and Emma Timmis headed off to run Hadrian’s Wall at the end of August and I wanted to share more of the story with you. · English as a Second Language (ESL) Podcast - Learn

Make your next vacation more active and exciting. Learn different ways to do that on this episode. Slow dialog: 1:26 Explanations: 3:48 Fast dialog: 19:20 Emma: Are you ready? Ricardo: Sure, but why are you dressed like that? I thought we were going to play golf with Kareem and Karen. Emma: I told them we’re going rock climbing instead. Ricardo: I was really looking forward to a game of golf. Emma: You play golf all the time. How often do you get the chance to do other outdoor activities, such as horseback riding and zip-lining. We can do both this afternoon if you’re up for it. Ricardo: I thought the point of this vacation was to rest and recharge. Emma: We do need to recharge, but what we need is excitement, not rest. Maybe Kareem and Karen will want to join us tomorrow. Ricardo: Why? What are we doing tomorrow? Emma: How about a watersport, maybe kayaking, windsurfing, or water skiing? Too bad we can’t go scuba diving, but we can do some snorkeling. Ricardo: I like the idea of spending some time on the water, but whale watching is more my speed. Emma: Don’t you want to feel the wind through your hair and the excitement pumping through your veins? Ricardo: I didn’t know you were such an adrenaline junkie. Emma: Guilty as charged. I’m going to take skydiving lessons next month. Want to join me? Ricardo: I consider skydiving a spectator sport! Script by Dr. Lucy Tse

  • Episode 9 // Emma Slebsager

    · Martiny Podcast
