How passionate are you about climate change? Have you ever thought of an out of the box idea to attract attention and maybe stick it to a world leader you disprove of?
Our next guest has Ollie Nancarrow the founder of the UK marketplace Born Eco! Hello and welcome to the Sustainable Life Podcast. My name is M and I'm the host of this podcast and the founder of the sustainable life app - an app for Sustainable Living Made Easy!
The Sustainable Life App (free on Apple and Android) connects you with sustainable brands and businesses worldwide. And the purpose of this podcast is to interview various experts and inspiring individuals around the world about topics relating to... sustainability. Like today's guest!
In 2019 us president Donald Trump visited the UK and young Ollie (with the help of his parents) took out his lawnmower and mowed a huge image of a penis and above it wrote "Oi Trump" and on the other side of his lawn mowed a big image of a bear and with that wrote "Climate Change Is Real". Ollie's image went viral and he was featured on Jimmie Kimmel Live. He also upset some noteworthy "people"... and was taken into custody.
I'm not going to say anymore because stories are so much better when heard by the originator. I will however say that for a visual representation of Ollie sharing some key parts of his story, please visit out the sustainable life app instagram or facebook pages where I share some fun podcast video snippets with all of you in our beloved community.
Our instagram and facebook handles are @sustainable life app - so without further adieu, let's get started.

In March 2020 the world shut down because of Covid 19 and the use of PPE ( or personal protective equipment) became essential not just for first responders, but also for the general public. The environmental impact of single use items such as disposable gloves and masks is already showing up in our oceans and landfills. This is especially hard to witness for those of us who work hard to practice a low waste lifestyle. And for businesses owners with eco values/
But… is there a more responsible way that PPE can be disposed of with a minimal negative effect on the environment?
Today’s podcast is a part 2 to our previous one with Green Circle Salons. They have a cool new PPE initiative through which they help salons dispose of PPE products responsibly. You must be wondering… if these salons are “green” then isn’t using single use masks irresponsible? I agree and to be honest most green businesses have figured out how to function without the use of single use PPE but there are still some items that cannot be avoided because of the safety and personal protective risks of Covid!
We’ll go into deeper discussion on this with today’s guests. We’re welcoming back Will Simpson from Green Circle Salons and also sustainable salon owner Rebecca from CasaPRANA in North Carolina, USA.
My name is M and I’m the host of the Sustainable Life Podcast and founder of the Sustainable Life App – and free app on apple and android for Sustainable Living Made Easy! In this episode M interviews Muhannad Malas from Environmental Defence Canada. Did you know most receipts that we get when we make average purchases like going to grocery stores can be toxic? It's true! Listen to this podcast and learn how to protect yourself!
Want an easy solution? Ask businesses in your area to switch to e-receipts! Don't want to have a face-to-face conversation with a business because you're polite? No worries, we've got you! Just tag your favourite businesses to our instagram post and ask them to switch to e-receipts!
Not only are receipts dangerous for our health but they 100% a waste - most city recycling programs don't accept receipts because they are chemically based as opposed to normal paper which usually contains plant-based inks. Fascinating, right?
