The Supreme Court is making awful decisions, and we think you should know so you can do whatever you need to do to be prepared for the fire this time. Anthony Kennedy, if you’re reading this, you really f#$d us! Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, if you are reading this, you’re on our prayer list. Anyway, Jamie Foxx managed to be a terrible comedian and host. Dame Dash proved to be the true supreme in confronting Lee Daniels for doing what Monique been told yall Daniels was doing--not paying what he owes. But all is well for Black Women da Gods and may the Nancy Pelosi's and Permit Patties of the world fail.

The #BlackJoyMixtape is BACK and about to be a big sister! We have a new show for you in partnership with Stitcher Premium coming later this summer! Despite all our hard work and being named Essence's #Woke100, white people haven't gained any self-control. They are calling the police unnecessarily, they are on the eve of a potential world war, and they are adamant about keeping Black mamas in cages this Mama's Day. We won't stand for it! We can free Black Mamas in the DMV by going to bit.ly/Dmvbailout

Amber and Jazmine have been doing the absolute most this month. Not only have they been traveling across the country for work and play, but Jazmine woke up early one morning to conquer evil and it wasn't even Easter yet. This week we talk about how differences in Black liberation practices are showing up in the Movement for Black Lives, why Howard University needs to pay what they owe, and how Black women continue to go first and show us what liberation looks in real life! Remember, just because white have lost it, doesn't mean we have to, Black folks.

Your favorite news and politics podcast are warriors whose commentary is deeply rooted with the creatives who are daring enough to remind us that we have the right to be here no matter what. They are trying to convince us otherwise. They are liars.
Alejandra Pablos, our Sor Ale, has been wrongfully detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. She is being held with no bond because the Supreme Court ruled that immigrants who is detained do not have the right to bail. This system is actively working to makes us believe that we nor our immigrant sibling do not deserve dignity. This is a lie. We fight. Learn more about how to support Ale by visiting bit.ly/releaseale -
Your fav news and politics podcast #BlackJoyMixtape went to see Black Panther and got inspired to talk about how our communities have Wakanda potential, but white people are really trying to ruin this for us with gentrification, harvest boxes without actual harvests, and compromising our access to clean water and food. But all is not lost, we still prevailed over triflin exes and saw an ill pre screening of Giants. Make sure you follow along using the hashtag, #BlackJoyMixtape. Last full episode of the year. 2017 was wonderful, absurd, hilarious, and unrelenting. The same can be said about your favorite news and podcast hosts! As Black popular male news hosts crumble, we end by reminding you that we DESERVE more and better options.
This time we have our friend, and one half of Brown x Bruja, Sor Alé powerful interview about her experience with immigration and the criminal justice system -
The Black Joy Mixtape recorded a special report on rape culture on December 2nd. This was prior to the TIME cover release and Amber's latest appearance on Roland Martin. Despite the electric conversations that happened this past week and news of Russell Simmons sexual misconduct, we're still wondering where is the televised State of Hip Hop and Rape Culture round table? We got tired of waiting and released our own. We offer a trigger warning, love, and grace to those who may be sensitive to heavy topics like rape.

Amber and Jazmine recorded this week's show on Election Day in a much better mental space than this time last year! Black women and returning citizens who had their voting rights restored overcame the many complications and let downs of the democratic party to keep voting no on White Supremacy across the country! Jay Z took his Facebook for a spin to speak out against the slavery cartel's treatment of Meek Mill and Donna Brazile showed us that she too is a god.

Your favorite news and politics podcast has to take time to talk about how our rights to our own bodies are being violated through policy and are maintained by the people with the most power are enacting terror on our communities. We demand the end of all sexual violence and coercion. Everyone must stand up against those who misappropriate and abuse their power at every level. We encourage you to support your local strippers especially protest.
-
The High Priestess of Black Joy and Da King of the South celebrate The Black Joy Mixtape turning 1 with a special feature from your favorite witch, Malaya Lynch! We wanted to remain in a celebratory mood so we didn't do headlines and just focused on the politics of love, initimacy and relationships as cuffing season kicks into full swing.

We're only here to cover who we truly care about: Oprah, Beyoncé, and dope Black woman owned comic book stores. Refusing to protect journalists, healthcare, freedom of speech, protest, or anything that upholds our basic human rights are detriments to Black Joy and a waste of this ill studio connect. But as news and politics PODCASTERS, we cover it all. Get you a fav podcast that can do both.

Yo fav news and politics podcast just got back from Werk It Podcast Festival and Let's Talk About Sex Conferences! Our absence didn't help white people gain any self-control to make sure that Puerto Rico gets the aid, resources, and proper infrastructure it deserves. Institutions like the NFL and NBA have refused to perpetuate a culture that celebrates the human right to protest. Instead, they have chosen to embrace a more authoritarian approach that increases punishment, stigma, and coercion in the name of "patriotism."
We at The Black Joy Mixtape vow to protect Black femmes and exhaust their divinity so that we can make a safer world for ourselves and our siblings like Terry Crews. No tired Dove ads nor ESPN suspensions formed against us shall prosper. - Show more
