This past Wednesday, Tony's sister Marlea Hatch taught on what we do when we experience being annoyed. She encouraged us to be aware of the "kindling" we collect as we cross paths with others and just how easily it can ignite when we ignore it.
-
This past Sunday, Phoebe spoke on the HSM Value, We Build Up. She emphasized that we need to be "built up" on a solid foundation if we desire to stand firm. And as Jesus shares in Luke 6, He is the only firm foundation that anyone can build on. Check it out!

As followers of Jesus, we have received the greatest gift we could ever imagine and have joy that cannot be taken from us. Yet, our world is broken and we still experience and witness suffering. So what do we do when we feel sad?
This past Wednesday, June 26th, Brian To spoke on the emotion of sadness. He brought us through Psalm 88, which gives us permission to bring ourselves to God when we are sad. He knows our sadness and is present in it. You have permission to lament to God.
-
On Sunday June 16th, Pastor Tony taught on the HSM value All Are Welcome. Why do we welcome any high schooler into HSM? Because Jesus welcomes all people to Himself! But even more important than us welcoming people into HSM is welcoming others into the Kingdom of God. If we are unwilling to share the Gospel with people, we are unwilling to embody this value.
-
Fullerton Free youth pastor and former ARC Intern, Amy Atienza, joined us as we asked the question, "What do I do when I experience fear?" She encouraged us that there is beauty to our fears because it pushes us to God, but that we also should go to war with our fears. Let us surrender our fears to God over and over again.
-
On Sunday June 9th, HSM Ministry Associate Brody Austin, spoke on our Student Ministry value: We Seek Truth. We unpacked John 8:31-32 and then spent some time diving into resources provided to help us "seek truth". Remember... Truth is discovered, not created. So go out and find it!
-
All summer, HSM is bringing in guest speakers to teach us on "What do I do when I feel _______ ?". On June 5th, Arbor Road Pastor, Megan Marshman kicked us off with teaching on the emotion of anger.

This Summer, we are teaching through our Student Ministry Values. We will look at what Scripture teaches us about that Value and then take time engaging a practice that lives it out.
On Sunday June 2nd, Pastor Tony brought us to John 15:11 to unpack how Jesus is for our joy. Because of Jesus, we have the freedom to worship God with all that we are.
-
On Sunday May 26th, Pastor Phoebe walked HSM through our last "sense" of experiencing God. While Jesus had a physical body and physically touched many, He is no longer physically present. Now, we have the Holy Spirit and embody the "hands and feet" of Jesus as the Church.
-
This whole series is all about experiencing God personally. If God is able to be known, we should be able to sense Him. On Sunday May 12th, Pastor Tony spoke on the idea of SMELLING & TASTING God. While God doesn't have a smell or taste (as far as we know), we still use our noses and tongues to glorify Him.

This Sunday our HSM Intern, Brody, spoke on our 3rd Sexy Lie: My other half is out there. We learned instead that Scripture teaches us that 1) God fully knows us, 2) God fully loves us, & 3) Only God completes us.
-
On Sunday April 21st, Pastor Phoebe taught on the lie, "I'm pure because I'm a virgin." We learned that 1) Virginity is not salvation, 2) Chastity is God's design, & 3) Worship God in temptation.
It's a hard hitting reminder that true purity is not found in what we do, but what Christ has done.
-
This Sunday, Pastor Tony introduced us to the new series Sexy Lies. We are addressing the alluring lies about sex & relationships that we will fall for if we aren’t careful.
The first lie we tackled is "My sexuality is the most important thing about me". Give this a listen to find out what this lie is so convincing and what God has to say in response.
**Our microphone cut out for 2 minutes at the 15:21 mark. The 3 nuggets to take away from the first point are: 1) We are created in God's image, 2) God created Eve as a complement to Eve (and vice versa), & 3) Sex has preset purposes.
