  • Enjoy this magical realism story and cult classic film that we can’t shut up about. They made some questionable changes from page to screen but honestly we like them both for very different reasons. We talk about which of the sisters we saw ourselves as in high school and reveal which of the Owens women we want to be now. Dig into these details with us.

    Episode Drink: Midnight Margaritas

1/2 cup Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice (5 limes)

2 tbsp Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice (1 lemon)

    1 cup Triple Sec

    1 cup White Tequila

    2 cups Ice (8-10 cubes)

    2 wedges lime

    Kosher Salt for rim

Add lime juice, lemon juice, triple sec, tequila, and ice to a blender and process until fully slushed. Use a lime wedge to moisten the rim of two glasses, and dunk each rim into a plate of kosher salt. Pour your margs in, and commence with a circular dance around the nearest table.

  • This story offers so much scope for the imagination! We truly feel we are kindred spirits with Anne (spelled with an E, obviously). And the wrap up of the show left us in the depths of despair. We’ll just have to console ourselves with the absolute multitude of books in this series. Jordan shares her anger at why this ended and Emily reveals why she hates being compared to this main character sometimes.

    Episode Drink: Raspberry Cordial

    Ingredients:

one four liter pail of freshly picked cleaned raspberries 4 cups boiling water 1/2 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice 2 cups granulated sugar 1/2 cup of honey

    Instructions:

In a large non-metallic bowl, crush the raspberries with a potato masher or similar utensil.

Pour 4 cups of boiling water over the crushed berries; stir in the lemon juice. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set aside in a cool, dark place for 24 hours. The next day, pour the crushed berries through a cheesecloth to sieve out the particles. This will take a while as you have to let the liquid slowly seep through the cloth. Place the liquid in a pot and bring to a boil on the stove. Add the honey and stir in.Add in the sugar to taste, but do not add more honey. Honey can override the raspberry taste in this recipe, but adding half a cup will give it a gorgeous depth of taste that plain sugar doesn't. Boil the liquid for another three minutes. Put in Jars. Tuck in a cool place. Will be good all winter

  • A theatrical adaptation of the novel was presented at Seattle's Book-It Repertory Theatre in 2007.[13][14]

The novel has also been adapted for the theater in a version written by Caridad Svich, which was commissioned by Repertorio Espanol in New York City. That adaptation premiered in 2009 and received the HOLA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Playwriting from the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors. Unlike the film and the previous adaptation, this version was written and performed in Spanish and has been staged in Latin American countries such as Chile and Costa Rica.[15] Svich also wrote an English language version of the play which won the 2011 American Theatre Critics Association Primus Prize for its production at Denver Center Theatre Company in 2010.[16]

On May 23, 2018, it was announced that Hulu was developing a television series adaptation of the novel with production company FilmNation Entertainment. Allende is expected to serve as an executive producer on the project.[17] On October 19, 2021, it was announced that Eva Longoria would star in the project.[18]

  • Love makes you do crazy things - like hop in a car and go on a road trip with someone you barely know. But then again, it can also help you realize who you truly are so it balances out. Join us as we dig into who really is a more interesting narrator in this story and gush over how pretty all the vintage clothing is. We also have a laugh at some dude’s expense. It’s fun.

  • Come be a princess with us! Yes, you! All little girls are princesses (age is irrelevant here). We profess our love of magical realism and commend this movie for its beautiful visual storytelling. We also find a few holes in the movie plot that make it tough to fully believe this story - even though we totally believe in the magic. Come relive Jordan’s childhood with us!
