  • 024 | Before we dove deep into the world of electrification and solar on farms we touched on Denmark's latest annoucement - the first country in the world to tax agri emissions but its not law yet! - will they make it further than anyone else? The UK have had a change in govt, what does it mean for ag and trade? and finally maze maze the amazing maize, well not quite so quickly! there are huge supply chain issues cause all sorts of problems for those growing maize for grain in the North Island.

This week we had the epic Mike Casey from Forest Lodge Orchard and Rewiring Aotearoa co-hosting the pod with us. He is a "nerd" (of his own admission) in the world of electrification, he's blazing the trial right out front showing the rest of us what can be done. He's then very kindly sharing all his knowledge so we can learn and uptake as quickly as possible. This is an exciting conversation that really ignited the flame of opportunity and how farming can be a solution to the country!

We also discuss the NZ rural banking inquiry and AgriZERO's work in reducing methane emissions via practical tools for farmers.

This week we debate Gene Editing, and the fact that NZ has been silent on the topic for over 20 years. Now is the time to have the conversation as we are quickly falling behind the rest of the world and we need to know what our renewed stance is and why? NZ Food strategy anyone?
