The ALIVE podcast turns 4 today!!! 4 years ago today, on September 18, 2020, I released the very first episode of the podcast with my episode "Come ALIVE with Me" .
Even more significant is the fact that I didn't plan it this way, but the release of this show on the 18th of the month is symbolic of the energy of Chai, or "life" in Hebrew.
What started as a pandemic baby transpired into a true love, but also labour of love to keep my podcast ALIVE (no pun intended!) for 4 years now. There have been countless personal + health challenges, along with the challenge of being a host + managing the podcast for consistent episode releases weekly!
It has taught me the true spirit of resiliency, which is what being ALIVE is about - not always achieving perfection, or sticking to plan - but knowing how to navigate the rough waters of life, of dealing with mental health challenges, or any level of triggering or past traumas.
In this special anniversary episode, I break down each of the last 4 years as this podcast evolved + what I have learned as lessons of resiliency that I am sharing with you today in hopes it helps you on your healing path, and gives you hope in our chaotic world. Let this be your guiding light, your North star, your sacred space to feel SAFE and SEEN, and deeply loved.
And a special thank YOU TO ALL MY LISTENERS FOR KEEPING THIS DREAM ALIVE! It's not easy, but it's ALWAYS WORTH IT!
Come celebrate 4 years with us with the exclusive ALIVE IS MY VIBE collection - click here to check it out!
XOXO,
JessicaSend us a text

Are you a people pleaser, or just hate to be the one to disappoint others so you say YES, when you really mean NO?
If yes, then this episode is for you to help you BREAK FREE from people pleasing tendencies with 6 easy steps I share with you that will literally change your life, and save you from constantly feeling exhausted, depleted, and resentful for not taking care of your needs first!
I also shed light as to WHY you people please from both a trauma informed + highly sensitive perspective with a nervous system response called "fawning" to avoid conflict and perceived dangers.
What actually happens when you aren't honest in your relationships is that the other person is never sure what to expect, and the level of distrust grows over time.
In other words, people pleasing doesn't help anyone in the long run!!! It's simply a defense mechanism to make you + others feel "safe" and avoid the discomfort of living an honest + aligned life.
As Alanis Morissette says (I share in this episode), "just because you can, doesn't mean you should!"Send us a text

If you experience the same challenges, and find traumatic events continue to control you + your emotional state, this episode will bring you much clarity!
Inspired by the athletes of the 2024 Paris Olympics, and one who truly inspired me in the realm of mental health recovery, Noah Lyles, I share the golden lessons learned over my month break from the podcast, and what all these athletes have in common that contribute to their greatness.
It has been scientifically proven that trauma can neurologically alter the brain, which keeps one in a constant state of hypervigilance or "fight or flight", and also may block the brain's ability to form new memories, which triggers vivid memories of the trauma they experienced.
In this episode, I share 4 powerful ways to reprogram your subconscious and conscious mind to recover and heal from past trauma, and instill a deeper knowing within you that your past does not define you, you do!Send us a text

Are you easily picking up on other people’s energy, almost porous? Do you you find it challenging to be around certain people or places, and want to know how to protect and love yourself while in those spaces?
I felt compelled to release this talk from my Insight Timer live as so many of us highly sensitives + empaths struggle with setting and maintaining healthy boundaries in our lives. Especially around this time of year, when family dynamics + people in our aura can be very triggering. This episode (Part 2 of a 2 part series) will help you return home 🤍 to yourself and help you feel more safe and connected to be yourself. To speak up when someone is not respecting your boundaries, and how to show up for yourself when others are constantly demanding your time + energy.
Believe you have ownership of your own experience. Develop a strong sense of self. Decide what type of energy you will bring into the room, event, situation you’re going into.Set an energetic boundary around yourself.Be aware of what your body physically feels like in the moment + your nervous system response.Decide what you will/will not tolerate with a "tolerance tally". Practice this. Affirm to others what you are needing in this moment, and what you will no longer tolerate in your life.
In this solo series, I will discuss how to:Part 2 also dives even deeper with 12 distinct types of boundaries + how to build resilience in relationships and your life by setting an intention to start with choosing just ONE of these today!

The collective chaos feels like a lot, especially for empaths and highly sensitives souls who carry so much.
The collective chaos becomes collective trauma if you're not protective of your energy and where you place your attention. I've personally been feeling this, and wanted to continue the conversation from Ep. 125: We Are All Exhausted Right Now + How to Recover from Burnout (for Empaths) with what helps me RISE ABOVE the chaos.
In this episode, I share the current energy forecast in Leo season, and how to harness the powerful energy of the LEADER (and Lion!) of the Zodiac.
I also share how prayer, the Pivot Year book, and channeling divine messages from the Ancient Stones oracle can be such comfort to reprogram your reality + subconscious mind.Send us a text

The collective energy in the cosmos right now is INTENSE, and empaths and highly sensitives especially feel this.
I wasn't physically able to record last week + release an episode because of this, and dedicated this episode to sharing my experience giving light and reality to our collective exhaustion, and how to recover with compassion, grace, and mad LOVE for yourself.
Burnout is a buzzy word, but really for those who have experienced trauma, especially medical and health trauma, feeling the same symptoms again and again can be an emotionally taxing experience.
How do you hold this, with everything else spinning out of control (or appearing to be?) in our world?
In this episode, I share 6 tips on how to move these moments and recover from exhaustion and cyclical burnout to BREAK THROUGH!

Are you hard on yourself? The harsh inner critic is very common for women caregivers, especially empaths and highly sensitives in the spiritual and recovery communities. What started as resonance in response to a post on Instagram has led to a beautiful connection + kindred spirit with my guest in this episode, Kelly Greene.
She came into my life at a time when I lost faith in the spiritual community, and entrusting so many healers and spaces that simply didn't have the trauma informed approach or empathy to hold all that I was carrying.
Kelly speaks to her path to her work with Prana Reiki after her divorce + loss of her brother to cancer in 2012 to a dream that guided her to a deep love of Reiki healing for recovery.
In our conversation, we touch on how to heal and integrate in layers, allowing for ample rest and space to process your emotions without getting stuck into states of depression or stagnation.
Kelly speaks to the suffering of society's obsession with highs and lows, and how the messy middle is truly a place to become your own healer, and learn how to cultivate wild self compassion and humanity through healing.
Make sure you stay tuned through this 2-part series where Kelly invites us to join her in a distance Reiki session to experience her magic LIVE!

While feelings can be fleeting, the resonance remains and lives inside our bodies, our hearts, and our minds. Trauma is the body’s response to a lived experience that was not processed, causing emotional distress + living inside your own mind!
In this episode, I speak to how to let go and live and find emotional freedom through 6 tangible tips that integrate Yogic wisdom based on Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.
When you can't get outside of your mind, attuning to your body's innate wisdom is central to trauma recovery.
The reason many diseases, illnesses and problems are "rebuilt" into your physical structure is related to mental thought patterns.Thoughts of jealousy, fear, worry and anxiety tear down and destroy your nerves, glands and your bodies ability to rebuild itself with perfect harmony with Nature.
My inspiration for you in this episode is to reprogram the emotional patterns + subconscious reality from running the show!
It's time to let that old story go. If this episode touched you, please rate with a 5 star review + share with someone who needs this message.

Being human can be challenging, especially in light of the global shift over the last 4 years. How can we embrace these changes with grace, and not pressure ourselves to live up to cultural standards that are honestly, unattainable and rooted in the presumption that you, as you are, is "not enough"?
In this episode, my guest, JodiGolda Komitor, unravels the gold laced within what it means to be HUMAN and how to embrace your messy ways as much as you do your Instagram-worthy side?
As a visionary herself, and pioneer of the Kids Yoga Movement, with over 25 years of entrepreneurial and small business experience, it was an honor to host JodiGolda on the podcast and learn from a true leader that embodies leadership with authenticity, truth, and freedom to be one's self unapologetically.
I first found JodiGolda by listening to her episode on the Healing Her podcast about this concept of the "inner winter" and how she moved through this following the sale of her business after abundant success with the Kids Yoga Movement.
Despite what the world sees as success, she stepped away into the spirit of what she calls a "somatic unpacking", developing a relationship with the part that is outside of you, this conversation with your harsh inner critic.
Once again, she is in a stage of following her inner calling by leaving everything that she knew here in the States to explore life in Portugal as a digital nomad, and what this new season is unearthing within her, gathering the gold in both the highs and lows of life!

If you’re struggling, or want to know how to support someone and be an ally for mental health 🫶 this message and episode is for you! 💕💕
In this last of a special series to honor Mental Health Awareness month, I share both a somatic + spiritual approach to trauma recovery and suicide prevention.
As something I've been a devout advocate for many years in my trauma informed practice, is knowing how to support someone (and yourself) to avoid isolation + feeling like a "lone wolf" in your struggles to survive, be seen, and fully understood in your asking for help.
To truly feel SAFE when seeking support is challenging in a world that doesn't quite offer the tools and resources for people struggling inside.
I speak to concepts like common humanity, compassion, and honoring those who we have lost in their legacy to be a light for others in their own darkness.
I also pay respects to the life and legacy of Grayson Murray of the PGA tour, who we lost to this struggle.
In his beautiful words,"When you're tired of fighting, let someone fight for you." @graysonmurray
We continue to fight for you, Grayson and all who struggle. This is for YOU.

In continuation of honoring this month's series for Mental Health Awareness Month, this epsiode unlocks another aspect of our own internal struggle with all or nothing thinking and how this plays a role in triggering trauma or emotional disregulation.
I touch on the Tantric framework of polarity + bring to light the the Cosmic Couple, Shiva and Shakti, that exist in all of creation, and within ourselves!
What happens when you lean too heavily into masculine construct of Shiva, or the feminine in Shakti, and say with conviction THIS IS THE WAY (or the only way) is to lose touch with half of its entire existence! If you're already lost, I clarify all this in the episode!
The secret to healing + elevating your consciousness exists in knowing, honoring, and LIVING in both realities, and learning how to "live in the grey".
The Principle of Polarity states that all manifested things have ‘two sides’; ‘two aspects’; ‘two poles; and, ‘everything has its opposite’ with manifold degrees between the two extremes.” – The Kybalion, a text of hermetic wisdom

If you’ve ever been gaslit, or have dealt with this challenging dynamic in your life, this episode is your elixir to a deeply intimate and enlightening conversation on what gaslighting looks like, and how to take your POWER back!
To me gaslighting at its core is a denial of your lived experience, and NO one has a right to have that say over YOU.
With May being mental health awareness month, I felt very passionate to bring this topic to light 💡 as suppression of our lived experience is the source of physical somatic symptoms + many chronic conditions when left unhealed.
Our bodies remember what our brains want to forget.

I'M BACK!!! Just in time for the divine month of May, a window in time that celebrates Mental Health Awareness month, Jewish Heritage Month, and my birthday on May 12th!
Each episode this month will feature the real lived experience of what it feels like to be ALIVE and recover and heal from past trauma, along with my personal wisdom to help you navigate this season of healing fully embodied!
Overthinking is one of these common lived experiences, especially in the psyche of one who has experienced any level of trauma, which we all have been feeling deeply more so in the past 4 years.
In this episode, I will cover:
1. What causes the overthinking mind, and how it shows up subconsciously without you even realizing what's happening!
2. How the connection to past trauma heightens this experience, and why it's actually here to HELP you release this from your physical body.
3. Where you can get started to break the cycle of this conditioning in a trauma informed and somatic approach.
"Overthinking shows up as this quiet voice that never stops anyone but YOU."

Are you the woman that is expected to hold it together, where all of your energy is consumed in the everyday? The type of woman who has wild dreams, but your obligations are overpowering, and those beautiful dreams stay on the backburner of your heart's greatest longings?
If so, this episode is for you! In one of my MOST cherished conversations on the podcast, New York Times bestselling author Lauren Grodstein joins me for an intimate and heartwarming discussion about living as a woman in what is still a Virginia Woolf world, indoctrinated as "women of labor" and the demands of life as the oldest daughter of her family.
In this conversation, we also speak to how womanhood poses challenges as a Jewish woman specifically, in light of the tragic events on and following October 7th, and how her latest book release We Must Not Think of Ourselves was unintentionally a timely message sharing the stories of the Warsaw Ghetto in 1940 and keeping their stories alive.
We are once again living in a time when no choice feels like a good choice, but Lauren does an impressive job depicting this in her novel, and in real life on this podcast.
She truly has a way with words that awakens your senses to truly see + feel as if you are there, and encompassing all emotions.
Be sure to stay tuned till the end, where she graciously also shares with us secrets of the publishing process and how to make writing your book easier - bye bye Writer's Block, hello Paris?
