  • In this episode of An Authentic Life, I reflect on my recent (second) miscarriage and the wake-up call it has been for me and my life. And yes, I am as tired as I sound.

Coming to terms with your own behaviours is hard, but I truly believe that our bodies are constantly talking to us all the time, so if we aren't mentally able to cultivate awareness of our behaviour in the moment, listening to your body can be the jolt you need to realise that things may need to change.

Of course, as is my brand, I do this gently, with unconditional love, forgiveness and patience, as this is truly the only way that I know really works.

    This episode covers:

Recognising avoidance behaviours (binge eating, binge watching, social media addiction) Cultivating awareness & acceptance of your coping mechanisms without shame My anxiety and why I can't help but isolate myself at times when I probably need to reach out What romanticising my life looks and feels like (a different approach to gratitude and seeing the beauty in the mundane) Healing from miscarriage (nervous system, thyroid, blood sugar regulation/insulin resistance) Giving yourself a safe space to feel your feelings (anger, grief, resentment)

  • If you always blame your lack of self-control for the undoing of your goals, perhaps it's time to instead strive for self-trust. Self-trust focuses on improving your relationship with yourself and having your own back.

Warning, it did get a little teary.

Shame is so last century, friend.

    In this episode, I chat:

The difference between self-control and self-trust Why self-control isn't everything it's cracked up to be My goals for 2022 (financial, business, life and family) Why I aim to be my own biggest cheerleader The role of self-trust in my life and my mindset How to improve your own self-trust Self-trust in childbirth

  • Do you ever look at spiritual people on Instagram and feel completely intimidated / alienated / turned off by the corny, privileged, out-of-touch, holier-than-though energy that they seem to give off?

Or perhaps you see the bad bitch energy, glittery, sexy, witchy, money manifestation babes and feel super intimidated by their confidence?

    Because SAMESIES, honey. SAMESIES.

But here's the thing, spirituality has nothing to do with an aesthetic and everything to do with your relationship with yourself - your higher self, your unconscious self and your intuition.

In today's episode I talk about my spiritual practice, to give you tangible ideas to begin your spiritual path in an authentic, accessible and joyful way. Including:

How I use tarot, oracle and affirmation cards How I work with my inner child with a Spotify playlist of emo music (seriously) What my spiritual practice feels like to me How I discovered what works for me How I fit in my spiritual practise as a full-time mother and business owner

I promise, it doesn't matter who you are, you can find a spiritual practice that feels authentic to you, without the labels, the aesthetic, or the schtick.

  • On the 12th April 2021 - my 34th birthday - when the New Moon was exact, I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks. My baby was due on 31st October.

    This was my first miscarriage and my second pregnancy, and was honestly a really healing experience for me after the traumatic birth of my son. I wanted to share my story for 2 reasons;

Because I don't see many accounts of miscarriage that reflect my own, so I wanted to provide a space for anyone who felt the same without invalidating the experiences of others Because before I had a miscarriage, I really didn't know what to expect would happen. My doctor told me it would be like a heavy period (newsflash: it wasn't). So this is the kind of information I would have been grateful to have my hands on.

I hope that if you choose to listen to it, it helps you in some way, but warning that some may find the content triggering.

This podcast is a very detailed account of my story, so if discussion of blood, cervical mucous or poo is too much, this may not be the episode for you, as I didn't hold anything back.

If you want to chat about this episode, you can get in touch [email protected]

  • As far as I'm concerned, the food you eat should bring you joy, but I also know that not everyone thinks about food the way that I do. So in this episode, I share my simple tips for joyful eating.

  • The last name is no coincidence here, Ally Partridge is my baby sister. I know we don’t look the same, but I reckon we sound pretty similar, what do you think?
Ally is a preschool teacher who has been in the childhood education industry for over 10 years. I feel very blessed because I get to access her knowledge and gentle philosophy whenever I want, and it’s helped my parenting journey so much (even before I got pregnant). So I thought it would be a great idea to interview her and get her to answer your parenting and childhood behaviour questions. And let me tell you, I was not wrong!
Not only is she passionate and knowledgable in this area, Ally has a knack for explaining these well researched philosophies in a way that takes away any fear of judgement you might have. With her bright mermaid hair and great sense of humour (that she obvs got from me, guys) Ally wants parents to develop a relationship with their children’s carers and help us to be ok with our kids feeling all their feelings, and I for one am here for that!
This episode is unique in that it is available on all the podcast platforms as well as on YouTube, so you can listen to it whichever way you like.
    IN THIS EPISODE, WE COVER:

The conversation starter that is Ally’s hair

Ally’s journey to becoming a preschool teacher

How early we should start talking to children about their feelings to help them understand what they are feeling

Smacking and yelling as a disciplinary method - the negative effects on you and your child

Why supporting your child’s development is not about perfection, but striving for respectful relationships that help children become influential as the next generation

Why your children’s carers don’t expect you to know everything as a parent and are there to support you, not judge you

Gentle methods for navigating tantrums and what to do when your kid hurts you

  • ā€˜An Authentic Lifeā€™ is an approachable guide to the imperfect journey of self-empowerment, holistic health and genuine happiness with nutritional medicine practitioner, Miranda Partridge. The aim is to learn more about ourselves, challenge our limiting beliefs and foster unconditional self-love, with curiosity, experimentation, and a dash of dork.

In this podcast, I share a lot about my own journey toward my most authentic life, as well as my expertise as a nutritional medicine practitioner. But I want to interview people that inspire me, to learn how they embody their authenticity in whatever it is they do. I really believe we need to hear that living the life we love is not without its hardships, but no matter what weā€™ve been through, we can always come out the other side if we put in the work.

Mikki Auld is just so freakin cool.

Sheā€™s clever and creative and lovely and grounded and an absolutely BADASS business owner who has grown her huge, sundrenched, airy & botanical-filled wonderland salon, Mikki Auld Hairdressing in just a few short years from a one-woman show to her ā€˜Girl Gangā€™ team of creative and highly intuitive hairdressers, in West End, Brisbane.

I say it several times in this episode (and episode 4 TBH) Mikkiā€™s Instagram is BEAUTIFUL, but donā€™t let that fool you into the thinking sheā€™s superficial - the woman is anything but. When I say BADASS, I bloody mean it. Mikki works her butt off, not only in her business, but learning all that she can to be an authentic, strong and innovative entrepreneur, constantly learning about her business and herself. Sheā€™s honest, she prioritises her self-care and has a big passion for systems, sustainability and inclusivity in her business. Sheā€™s even opened up her gorgeous space to events supporting local businesses and artists (watch this space!).

There is a lot to learn from Mikki Auld, whether you own a business or not. Sheā€™s been through a lot in her 30 years on this planet, and I canā€™t wait to see what she does next.

IN THIS PODCAST, WE COVER: How growing up in the country helped Mikki learn to pursue her creativity How hairdressing actually found her How her values of sustainability and not perpetuating unhealthy beauty standards helped her create a space for people like her; Mikki Auld Hairdressing How having a trade gave Mikki freedom to move overseas and become more of herself How radiating great energy helped Mikki create her ā€˜Girl Gangā€™ How systems help Mikki create a cohesive atmosphere at Mikki Auld Hairdressing How allowing space for uncomfortable feelings allowed Mikki to grow as a business owner and a human What Mikki has learnt about running a business, and what that has taught her about herself Having a beautiful Instagram with 4 hours a week dedicated to it. ie. Why you donā€™t have to be social on the socials Undercuts and why every woman should shave her head once Creating a strong foundation for your business with self-care and exercise Why doing what feels right for her body changed Mikkiā€™s diet for the better Why vulnerability and talking about your hardships in business are an asset The future of Mikki Auld Hairdressing and Sundown

Have you ever wondered why you get little white spots on your nails?
Why your scars just never seem to heal?
Or maybe you just feel a little embarrassed by your dry, cracked heels?
What if I told you that all of these are symptoms of nutrient deficiencies or underlying conditions?
And that with a few small changes, you may be able to erase them for good?
Today on the podcast we’re discussing what your skin says about you.
Your skin (and your hair and your nails) are usually the last tissues to receive nutrition, so they are often the first place you can notice signs of deficiencies.
Different marks can show us what nutrients you may be lacking, or even give us clues to underlying conditions you may not be aware of.
In this episode I want to share with you some signs and symptoms to be on the lookout for, what they could mean, and how you can correct them using food and nutrition.

When youā€™re looking for a health practitioner, you want someone that you can trust. Someone who is dedicated and passionate, and someone who you can have a connection with. And that is exactly the sort of practitioner that Dr Bron, Osteo is. Her personality is infectious, and you can really tell how much she cares about her patients, when she encourages them to advocate for themselves in their own health journey.

She is also a barrel of laughs. A pom-pom adorned, colourful explosion of woo and campy television obsessions (Kath & Kim, Queer Eye and Schitts Creek, just to mention a few). I introduced myself to Bron because her vivacious personality just jumped out of her Instagram account and demanded I get to know her (in other words I had a huge girl crush/practitioner crush on her - just ask my husband, I only ever crush on the good ones).

Bron works in her tinsellated high-vibes clinic in East Brisbane serving holistic wellness in her areas of passion; womens health and family health.

In this episode, we get to know Bron, her journey to becoming an osteopath and her vivacious energy and personality.

IN THIS PODCAST, WE COVER: Bronā€™s journey from an aspiring lawyer and forensic scientist, to womens health osteopath
How Bron creates an environment within her business to make her clients feel safe, open up and begin their healing journey
Bronā€™s self-care rituals for staying grounded and embracing your feminine
The importance of support and guidance for new Mums (especially those from a corporate environment)
How to choose the right practitioner for you (no matter the modality)

    Paleo. Vegan. Low carb. Low-fat.

What really makes a healthy diet?

In this episode I discuss healthy eating - because obviously as a nutritional medicine practitioner, thatā€™s probably what people want to hear from me the most.

    I want to share with you what I believe are the most important things to really understand about healthy eating;

Why your diet doesnā€™t need to have a name Why our weight is not a measure of our health or our value Why weight loss is not the most important goal when it comes to healthy eating Why listening to the cues your body gives you can empower you to make change within your health and give you strength, energy, vitality and longevity within your health Why you shouldn't ignore your symptoms and food intolerances How practising forgiveness is different to being complacent within your health journey The basic aspects of a healthy diet and the simple steps to creating your intuitive diet around them An example of what my diet looks like and how I use intuitive eating every day
