Mothering the body most certainly includes all of the things we typically think of with reference to necessary self-care. And, truly nurturing mothering of ourselves and others includes listening to the many languages our bodies speak. Listening to our need for movement, nourishment and attention to any symptoms of pain or discomfort. Listening and responding with the care, love and attention you would give to a child.
My guest Megan Pass is a keeper of body wisdom. Her journey into spirituality was through the body, following the breadcrumbs that the Divine laid in front of her. Weaving together a deep knowledge of body anatomy and movement, she approaches the body in the spirit of its innate ability to heal, initiating a deep remembrance of anchoring our soul into physical form.
We are here on Earth as souls having physical experiences and in working with the physical body, Megan teaches that we have the opportunity to alchemize the pieces holding us back from our truest expression without attaching to any of the stories that may get in the way. Increasing our physical capacity in a way that is intentional, opening while stabilizing, learning to feel, and caretake its messages opens our capacity to hold it all, including the soul. She holds this as an avenue to bring all the bodies into a beautiful marriage of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual through embodying all that we are.
Megan is a Priestess Initiate of the 13 Moon Mystery School, Polestar Pilates teacher, spiritual life coach, and physical therapist. . You can find more information about Megan here.

When we’re in a constant state of agitation, we consume, we hoard, we war. We are not our best selves. In taking just a moment to consciously step outside these fear-based patterns, we can begin to shift our trajectory and that of the planet in a more loving direction.

What if we shifted perspective in our relationship with Mother Earth to that of lover, rather than mother? What if we honored and cherished and lavished gifts on her like we would a new mate? What if the relationship was reciprocal rather than one sided? When the dolphins came both in a dream and IRL, I began to pay attention.

As we approach Mother’s Day, can we sit with how we feel about our relationship with our own mother, our relationship with our children and our relationship with how we mother ourselves and address what we’re being shown by our triggers in these relationships? It may be the hardest work we ever do. But it can have the greatest payoff in our lives and in the lives of every single being we encounter for the rest of our lives. Join me for a short episode on this often heated topic.

While I’ve not known her long, Alana Helapitage does seem to truly walk her talk. In our rich and honest conversation, she shared her story of fully loving and then losing a mothering relationship with the daughter of a former partner and how she has bravely faced the prospect of never again seeing this child that she raised as her own.
From experience, Alana recommends that anyone entering a potential step-parent dynamic have conversations as to what you have the capacity and the desire to sustain in a relationship with the child(ren), even more importantly than the focus on the partnership relationship itself. From her perspective, if there is a child in front of her, they are the most important person in the room and in the relationship as a whole.
If only we were all raised with a bit more of this loving kind of attention…
Alana describes herself as an artist, poet and trauma alchemist and in that work she seeks to disrupt the lie that we have to constantly chase better versions of ourself.

My work has been around reclaiming a relationship with the idea of mother and mothering. In the realm of teaching what you need to learn, this is been my primary lesson.
