  • The Power of Authentic Content Creation

In this episode of the Audacious Mamas show, I discuss the importance of authenticity in content creation. In a digital world filled with templated and over-edited content, being genuine and human is what truly connects with audiences.

I share my personal experience with AI tools and belief that while these tools can be helpful, it's the unpolished, human moments that resonate most with viewers.

This episode encourages content creators and business owners to focus on being themselves rather than adhering to rigid templates, as authenticity can be a 'scroll stopper' in a world of artificial perfection.

You're the brand and the voice, not AI.

  • Hey there! In this podcast, Steph talks about the three critical things you need to know about ChatGPT as a business person. The potential issues businesses face when using AI, specifically ChatGPT. We all want to be more productive but we definitely want to be mindful of some of the downside of AI tools.

She points out that ChatGPT might not give you the most up-to-date information because it has yet to be updated since 2021, which could cause problems in the long run. And a LOT of wasted time.

Also, ChatGPT's generated content might lead to copyright issues because the content may not belong to you. Plus, Google filters can spot content generated by ChatGPT and might end up suppressing it. Ugh. All of these things may result in lost income, lost leads, lost time, and may cost us if we have to defend ourselves against copyright challenges.

    So, what's Steph's advice?

She suggests using Content at Scale instead, which creates long-form content in a more human-like voice to avoid these issues altogether.

Another tool that Steph recommends is Descript, which can take spoken language and turn it into transcripts that can be used as a basis for blog posts or articles--anything you want! Using a transcript of human speech and then ChatGPT, you can create content that sounds human (because it is!!) and avoid getting flagged by Google's filters--take that, Google!!

So dive in with AI, it's everywhere and can save you loads of time and brainpower, but research the downside to your output if you're using it for business or selling it as a product.

  • AI Problems People Aren't Talking About and Why You Should Care

Steph has been discussing the use of AI for productivity. Here she focuses on being aware of the potential risks associated with using AI that people aren’t talking about but can have a major impact on your brand. Discussing the limitations of Chat GPT and problems we can run into if we’re not aware. One big one is the fact that data was pulled before 2021, so any new research with a present-day focus isn’t accurate.

As a single parent with a bunch of parenting challenges and more time and caregiving needed, Steph wants to leverage her time and be as efficient as possible. She’s excited to use AI.

Chat GPT is great for generating content quickly, but it’s important to be mindful of its limitations. Google has filters to determine if the content was created by bots, which can lead to suppressed rankings in search engine results. Content generated by superior tools such as Content at Scale is more likely to pass these filters and appear higher in rankings. Also, copyright issues related to AI-generated content have not yet been ironed out, making it important to add a human element to generated content. Taking time to massage content and add a unique voice can help to set our content apart from others who don’t have time or don’t realize how important it is.

When using AI to generate content, it is suggested to comment somewhere in the content, such as at the bottom, that it was generated using AI. It is still unclear what the legal implications of using AI-generated content are, but it is recommended that the more one can have a hand in the content, the more it is theirs. One example of AI-generated content tools is the Mid Journey word-to-art tool, which allows one to type in a word and specify the style and look of the image it generates, such as the type of lighting and lenses used.

AI tools can be used to create art and content to sell online with minimal copyright infringement concerns. Julia McCoy, the founder of Content Hacker, is an example of someone who has shifted her thoughts around using AI tools to create content. She’s now Director of Marketing Content at Scale, an AI company that creates natural and human-like content that passes AI checkers. They also explicitly state that what is generated using their tool belongs to the customer. Content at Scale is a paid tool, with a low-end entry point of $150.

  • Boost Your Productivity and Efficiency Instantly with ChatGPT and Descript

This episode discusses the downside of using Chat GPT and how it can negatively impact SEO. Provides a solution to improve SEO rankings, as well as a mystery tool which may help with the primary problem of Chat GPT. The conversation then shifts to the struggles of being a single parent and a mom with a sick child and how automation and AI can help to manage a business despite the challenging circumstances. Steph acknowledges the mixed feelings towards AI, emphasizing the importance of finding the right tools to make life easier.

Chat GP and Descript are two tools that can help save time when it comes to creating content. Chat GPT is an AI tool with a natural language foundation that generates robotic text. Both tools can help shave time off of content creation, allowing creators to focus more on relaxing and enjoying their work.

Steph found Julia McCoy's work through a search and was wowed by her content and offerings. Julia is an experienced writer, founder, and SEO expert. She argues that using a chatbot to generate content won't work because it won't pass Google's filters. Steph then introduces Descript, an audio and video editing and transcript creation tool that can be used to create content. It has filters that can save time, such as one that takes out large gaps in audio and video, which is helpful when you're exhausted, out of coffee, or have cognitive issues.

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence tool to help with creating content from transcripts or audio recordings. It can remove filler words, repetitive words, and words that don't make sense—in her test, she asked is to create a series of tweets, quotes from a transcript. It can save a lot of time for those who don't have the capacity to write.

She became the VP of Marketing at Content at Scale, an AI tool that's superior in writing true human-like longform text --the best AI Julia has found. She created a concept called AIO, which is artificial Intelligence Optimization for writers, the AIO process.

My goal is to save you, mamas and women, time. Like, we have all this motivation. We have the gifts, the skills, the knowledge. We want to do these things.

Consider using tools, and leveraging them in a way that will save you time. But don't just rely on the tools. That's why I suggest taking your content in your voice, your interviews, whatever.

And this tool can create fantastic blog posts and things like that with SEO baked in. It's saved her a lot of time. I just saw her video, and it's super impressive.

Whatever the angle you want to pull from the podcast, YouTube Live, whatever it is that you're using as the foundation for Chat GPT, right? Because it's basing it on natural language, it will turn out way better.

  • I've missed you! I love podcasting. I love creating content. And I so love being able to help people and earn a living.

But, reality check, being a mom will interrupt business. Period. And these past two months have been rough. What we've all been through is something I wouldn't wish on anyone. And the amount of time, energy, and focus has been above and beyond anything I could have predicted.

Stuff happens, and we need to be prepared.

So this episode is about what life throws our way and how we as caregivers will likely take a hit when someone gets sick, needs to be hospitalized, or needs a higher level of care from us for some time. We must set up our lives to account for these gaps of complete demand on our time.

Being more strategic with my earnings and creating income streams that aren't dependent on my time allowing for as much flexibility as possible, is now an absolute necessity, as is my daughter's recovery and overall mental wellness as a family.

Related to this, check out the youTube video I created about a simple side gig where you can make $100+/hour with quick zoom calls for for a marketing company that does user studies and pays well. This is something you could do even on the tightest schedule, that's why I'm including it here.

  • Mother's Day - Honoring Moms through loss - celebrating YOU!

Man, it has been a crazy wild last two years, and I was thinking about this episode and how to honor moms and all that moms have been through because I think of all that people have been through, the most significant weight has been put upon mothers and mother figures, caregivers, for sure, over the last two years.

And so some moms are just spent and at their wit's end, and some mothers, through all of this, have learned to figure out more self-care, how to realign themselves, maybe with better jobs or with delegating things around the house so that they can take back their time and not be this wonder woman, super supermom.

And then many of us also have lost parents. I lost my mom 16 years ago. Her mom right after that, so two maternal figures poof!--both were gone. I didn't have my kids until two years later, but that hole was there. Through this pandemic, so many people have lost their parents, their mothers, and loved ones. Or their parents are battling illness now. It's a lot, and it can make this day a big mixed bag of emotions.

I get it. I'm sharing some thoughts about my mother, my grandmother, the sorrow I've felt for my mother never meeting my children, and how I turned that around last year, determined to start a new tradition for Mother's Day. And I have some ideas for turning things around for yourself so life can be sweeter and you can maintain more life in life in spite of inflation, pandemics, and dark news in the world.

  • Avoid Burnout - learn from these Entrepreneurs and tap into intuitive guidance for your business

Entrepreneurship can be a lonely and stressful journey. It's important to avoid burnout by learning from those who've been on the path just ahead of you. Tap into your intuition and let it guide you to success.

I noticed some of the entrepreneurial women I adore and look up to were sharing some of the same challenges. All followed the same patterns and hit a point of burnout.

While none of these women are mamas yet, they have inspiring success stories and a willingness to be vulnerable and share openly. There's so much to learn from them!

Sadly, this came with a loss of identity, being subsumed into their businesses and following the leaders and coaches with a blueprint to follow—and by being hyper-focused by stats, followers, and views.

They had no time to reflect on what makes them happy and what motivated them to create their businesses. They had the sense that success was solely about building millions and their lives were missing the personal aspects of fulfillment and joy in life that aren't related to income.

They all shared similar ways of recovering. A lot of what they shared that helped had to do with being "true to themselves," listening to their inner voice, intuition, and what their bodies were telling them. Basically being guided by internal cues vs. focusing solely on external forces and voices.

This episode is all about my observations following Sunny Lenarduzzi, Vanessa Lau, and Cathrin Manning. Each has their own story, and if you're not familiar, all have YouTube channels, so I'm linking some key burnout and lessons learned videos they shared.

  • This last week was school vacation week for lots of us in the US. Many of us moms had kids with us full time at home, vacationing, or maybe you got lucky, and they were at a fun day camp. Whatever the case, everyone's schedule is different, and things shift around. Even the best-laid plans can result in challenges and disappointments.

Sometimes, I have these crazy days and weeks where nothing is working, and my mind feels like it's spinning. One of my favorite ways to help myself calm down and relax when this happens, which you might not know about. I'll whip out an Oracle card deck because those always seem to give me the guidance and specific message I need at the moment. Cool!

If you haven't used them or heard of them, Oracle cards are a free-form way to get spiritual guidance or your daily message. I love working with an Oracle Card Deck by Alana Fairchild called Sacred Rebels. It's one of my favorites because it has such beautiful artwork on every card and excellent descriptions, making them easy to understand for anyone at any level.

In this episode, I chose a card with a beautiful message that I think will resonate with busy mamas, and it ties into my next episode about what happens when we push too hard and detach from our intuition.

  • It's International Women's Day 2022, as I post this. I'm thrilled to feature Amy Wong, an incredible Mama who's an executive leadership coach advising leaders, executives, and teams on all things related to growth, transformation, and flow.

Here Amy shares the lightbulb moment after she had her first child and how she's shifted out of the traditional "shoulds" that are the formula for success and learned to tune in and feel her way to what truly lights her up, helps her live on purpose, be happy and truly thrive.

Consider how anxiety, stress, living in survival mode, and being resilient often takes us OUT of our bodies and our natural intuition. We have the best of intentions but it skews and amplifies some of the most negative unhealthy emotions that make us feel stuck.

So many thoughts here about shifting out of that and learning to BE and listening to our natural urge for something more.

And, how that shift can be the biggest gift to regaining our sanity as moms and thriving and finding abundance and joy!

  • Hey, all it's new year's Eve. And I just wanted to send a message to say that I hope you have an amazing 2022!!

    This year was intense.

The last quarter was off the charts energetically. It was both good and bad. And I know many people are saying that it's a little bit like being on a see-saw and apparently that is not likely to change.

So buckle up and get grounded, take time to go within before you hit the ground running this year.

And I just wanted to say, I appreciate you!

Thank you for hanging in there with this podcast. I have, I had hired somebody to help me out to get me to hit the ground running in the fall when the kids went back to school.

Sharing some of the best books I've read this year to keep you motivated!

  • In this interview, I touch on a new research study that found one of the top 3 things people look for when considering a service is, "Do they have a nice website." I know, I wouldn't have thought that was so important!

The second finding was a blog where you share your ideas. In the study, they found it equivalent to being a self-published or a NY Times best-selling author. WOW.

If you happen to be using WordPress and you're considering a membership site, please listen to this. Justine explains why it's essential to think about whether or not it's the right solution for you—it could be costly.

He shares about being an Audacious single Dad of two boys and the flexibility entrepreneurship affords him as their sole caregiver.

He explains how he differentiates his business from other web developers by offering stellar support round the clock. (I can attest to this—his team is fantastic, it's why he's on!)

    In this episode

Justin explains why he started supporting 10X Pro.io, the platform that I'm using, instead of sticking solely with WordPress.

He talks about page load speed, Google SEO plug-in issues that come up with security.

Why you MUST test your site on MOBILE. It's THE most important thing for Google ranking and SEO right now.

How his monthly support service works and the benefits for us small business owners.

Some quick tips in general for your site, including a free site audit that will no longer be free in the near future. Sign up if you're interested!

  • So many of us mamas in business are searching for help to get work done and get our time back. The struggle is real. But HOW do we find a Virtual Assistant or someone to do the work quickly? We need someone who can jump in with little training and a reasonable amount of direction and oversight.

In this episode, I answer the following.

How can I find a qualified VA quickly, in under a week, and have them jump in and hit the ground running? Where do I look for someone for a short-term project like a launch? How can I find someone who's qualified AND affordable? What can I expect the process to be like? Where else can I look if I don't want a VA, I just need a simple project completed quickly like a slide deck, a workbook, a YouTube or podcast edited?

Start looking right away!! Good help is out there and pretty easy to find.

  • There's a hustle, push push push mentality in the air with all entrepreneurs, and it's troublesome for women and moms who are bearing the heavy load of parenting and domestic chores. That's a FACT. This approach can lead to physical and mental burnout and a feeling of never being good enough or getting enough done. I'm calling B.S. on this idea. I encourage you to STOP and RELAX throughout the day to increase your energy, mental state, creativity, optimism and ultimately create a greater sense of success in your life, business, and relationships.

This episode covers the underlying masculine hustle mentality and how I see it negatively impacting mompreneurs and working moms.

    - Given what's happening in our world, issues from past traumas are surfacing, and it's affecting all of us but especially women who are not in the habit of slowing down to identify what's going on internally and figure out how they can recover from setbacks that are emotional, mental, or physical.

    - I discuss giving yourself the time to feel, heal, and deal with what's coming up. Journaling, meditation, taking time out to relax intentionally to calm your nervous system. Walks, yoga, meditation, puzzles, time in nature, baths, swimming, breathing, stretching, napping, massage, whatever works, to soothe and help you feel safe and at ease, aiming for a relaxation response.

    - I share therapeutic approaches that can help where specific Traumas from your childhood or past are coming up as abandonment, abuse, loss of a loved one or miscarriage, car accidents, moves, divorce, job loss, radical changes in life, etc. Some of these therapies are listed below.

    - Being open to the idea that you can hop off the hamster wheel and attend to yourself to create more success vs. pushing to do more. Google this concept to find loads of examples of entrepreneurs who figured this out after burning out and turned their businesses into multi-million dollar success stories.

  • We've been through colossal change collectively this last year. So when I saw the research by EvolveMKD, I knew I needed to share it on the podcast. They found a strong link between communication and mental health in women, and some of it flies in the face of the idea that we are better communicators.

In this episode, I share some of the key findings, the different styles of communication women have and how each type of person is impacted differently in terms of mental health. This aspect of the study is helpful for connecting with your clients via social media, language on sales pages and offers, how we choose to connect in-person, and the potential big wins around live events and retreats.

    Key points from the study:

Of the Americans who reported a change in their mental health, more said it worsened during COVID-19 than in the last 10 years:

Women are more impacted by those around them than men - 69% let other people's emotions affect their own

75% of women said their mental health was negatively affected by COVID-19 compared to 50% of men

90% of women said COVID-19 impacted the way they communicate with others. And 1 in 4 said their relationships deteriorated.

Social media had a more significant negative impact on women than on men--30% vs. 18% of men.

EvolveMKD worked with Dr. La Keita Carter to develop tools for women to check in on their mental health before communicating ('Mental Health Checklist').

Grab the Research Study on Communication by Evolve MKD which includes the Mental Health Checklist

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Does this resonate? Did this study inspire you to reevaluate how you connect and communicate with your audience and clientele? If so, how?
