In this episode I had the pleasure of talking with Steven Twohig of Mastering Change. He has a unique perspective on psychedelics and the plant medicine Ayahuasca, and is currently focused on psychedelic integration with an emphasis on shadow work.

I'm fascinated by the stories of people who've succumbed to the pressures and suggestions of this toxic world and have fallen down in life, only to get back up, take full responsibility for their comeback, and then go on to use their experience to be of positive influence to others.
Biohacker, author, podcaster and businessman Jay Campbell and I recently met, and I was immediately inspired by his abundant energy, focus and commitment to improving the lives of people in many unique and powerful ways.

In this episode of Battered Souls I had the extraordinary opportunity to speak with activist and survivor Ali Zeck. Ali is one of the most articulate and outspoken advocates for medical sovereignty and truth in our world today. As a survivor of psychological and psychiatric abuse, Ali spent decades being told she had a mental illness, and was on a devastating roller coaster of treatments, psychiatric wards, and psychotropic drugs that almost drove her to take her own life. When she finally found a doctor who told her she did not have a mental illness, it changed everything and empowered her to finally heal herself.
Unfortunately her story is not that uncommon, so now Ali inspires others as a ferocious truth-seeker and truth-teller.

In this episode I talk with ethnobotanist and steward of the ancient Secoya YagΓ© tradition, Jonathon Miller-Weiseberger to talk about the experience of drinking sacred medicinal brew at Ocean Forest EcoLodge in Costa Rica. Jonathon is a good friend of mine, and my teacher of this cultural treasure, and also the author of Rainforest Medicine: Preserving Indigenous Science and Biodiversity in the Upper Amazon.

I've spent a lot of time at Ocean Forest over the last 11 years, and I've witnessed first hand the amazing healing and connection that takes place here. Jonathon shares the medicine tradition (ayahuasca) of the Secoya, a small tribe in the upper Amazon, and we talk in detail about what it's like drink with proper Secoya elders in such a pristine and preserved location on the beach in the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica.

In this episode of Battered Souls, I speak with addiction success coach, Joe DiBianca, who helps people strike the root of their addictions by helping them to deeply understand why they do what they do.
This is a fascinating topic for me, as addiction has been a recurring theme in my life, and certainly one of the main ways in which I have sabotaged my own success and happiness.
Joe's approach is unique in that he looks at how the mind and body create a connection over traumatic events, then guides people to separate their feelings from the events that shaped them. In my experience this is a powerful way to develop emotional awareness, and makes letting go of the stories about feelings much easier, crating space for major change to come in.
Joe has been a professional body builder, and shares his experience in this sport which could have killed him because it values looks over health, and causes athletes to engage in extremely dangerous dieting patterns and dehydration which wreaks havoc on the body.

Meredith Wyness is a professional self-sabotage coach from New Zealand. In episode we talk about the similarities in our personal journey of overcoming drug abuse and self-destructive behavior, and learning to use our trauma and history as a way to heal and help others on their path.
